Amazing store with amazing food supplemental medication you can change along with the food to have balanced nutrition

This was my first visit, and it is a very interesting place. I stopped by to look for a couple of health supplements. I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff, and found good selections for what I needed. What a blessing ! After being in bed for a week and visiting the doctor and pharmacist, the doc had a whole list of recommendations and said I could get them all at Mama Jeans just down the street. Since I had felt like death and didn't want to feel like that anymore, and I wasn't contagious ( and wearing a mask) I I zoomed over to pick up some goodies and essentials just what the doctor ordered. Not only did I get the items on the list I found more Simple Mills crackers ( they are heavenly) and Some hard to find siete flavored chips. I wanted to buy Omega 3 supplements while visiting Springfield for the holidays. I decided to stop here and I was so pleased with the selection at Mama Jeans. They had everything I was looking for. I LOVE this market. The produce and other refrigerated and frozen departments are not as big as some health food stores but the huge selection of bulk items sure makes up for it. And, the service is excellent. And, the prices are very reasonable. We drive about 90 miles one way to shop there every few months. Highly recommend this place for healthy foods. read more

Mama Jean's has a good selection of somewhat overpriced healthful food and specialty items. I would frequently purchase my entire week's groceries there when my original intention was to buy just a few items, but since they implemented their 'no bag' policy, it's entirely too inconvenient. Convenience was the only reason I would buy expensive groceries while I was there picking up specialty items anyway. Sometimes there are boxes available to use, and none at other times. On my last visit, they were out of boxes and out of reusable bags for purchase too, so I bundled up my groceries in my arms the best I could and got them to the car but have not been back since. read more

The food was flavorful and had enjoyable textures. However, the prices are just way over inflated. For $8.34 a single sandwich that has no sides and no drink and you don't have a waiter to deliver the food....just not worth the ! The primary draw is the "organic non-gmo" label! read more

I have recently went into the store and this review is not directed to the store just a couple of employees. I asked help from one of the cashiers and he was rude and arrogant. He kept hitting the Apple Pay bottom so I could not confirm. Thank goodness I had my card. I go in the next day and at check out this other lady kept Coughing and kept looking at my dog tags from military. I said you must have allergies she said maybe a cat... whatever! If it wasn't for men and women that serve ...they would not have safe employment. I will never go through there line again! read more

Watch buying bagged lettuce here!!! We assumed it'd be safer than the other stores; not the case. A huge house spider was found when we made a plate of salad out of a bag of lettuce from this store. Literally from bag to plate. We understand y'all aren't responsible for the produce that you receive, but this was bad!!!!!!! We won't be buying any produce from this place again. We'll go to natural grocers. Talk about being afraid to eat your vegetables. Absolutely disgusting. read more

Like a refreshing oasis in a barren dessert, Mama's caught me completely by surprise. She has an enormous selection of organic, natural foods, teas, wines & brews as well as skin care and vitamins. I love the little packets and jars of things I've never seen before. Prickly pear cactus. Bayberry Root Bark. Benzoin gum powder. What? What? I guess I still have a lot to learn. All of the meats are from local farms. However, they are all frozen. So, it looks like this isn't going to become your local butcher. But it might just become your favorite cafe. Mama Jean's got the nicest people working for her, like Audrey, the barista. She's awesome. We had the s'mores frappuccino (chocolate, marshmallow cream, graham cracker crumbs) and the tortoise shell latte (dark chocolate & caramel with organic milk from a local farm). They were both delicious. If you're not into dairy, Mama's got coconut, almond, soy & rice milk alt. We also had a couple of the spa-like smoothies. The seasonal key lime pie and the mama load. Mama Jean's is a boutique market that features organic, natural and local products across many categories, including: groceries, produce, supplements, herbs, spices, beer and wine, and more. One of my favorite parts of the full service deli that offers two fresh, house made, hot soups daily, fresh made smoothies, juices squeezed to order, a salad bar, deli counter and hot sandwiches. Love their homemade hummus and the vegan, tofu "Greta Garbo" Sammie. Eat in or take it out, you will have one of your best meals in town. Wow, Mama Jean's has really stepped up their game! Ok, I've never been in this location, was in-and-out at the one on Sunshine and 65, so the only memories I really have of Mama Jean's were weird, childhood ones of the location on Campbell. That being said, I was totally wowed when my Mom and I stopped in here to grab just a few vegetables. When I saw the cafe, I immediately asked her if she wanted to get a drink while we shop. I ordered a delicious unsweet iced tea (and I got a free refill on my way out!) and my Mom ordered the Honey Latte iced. The girl who took our order was sweet, happy to help, and got our drinks out quickly. I've been living in Buffalo, NY for the last 5 years, which is certainly more ethnically and politically diverse than Springfield, so I've become accustomed to finding certain brands and products at local grocery stores out East that stock specifically for the demographic. I had hoped but didn't place my happiness on being able to find those brands here, but sure enough, Mama Jean's had everything I was looking for and more! I'm so happy! We bought our local vegetables we wanted, I grabbed a cereal I was telling my mom about earlier that day, and even grabbed a joint supplement one of the staff helped me find to improve my half marathon training I'm doing right now. I was thrilled; I had no idea Mama Jean's was this great! I'll be shopping here for all my Springfield trips for sure! read more

Our family comes here quite often. We love MaMa Jean's. This was our first unpleasant experience at MaMa Jean's My two young daughters and I arrived and stood on the marker for next person in line at the deli. There are two registers and an employee was helping a customer at the other register while we waited for someone to help us at the empty register. After waiting in line a few minutes, a few ladies got in line at the other register behind the customer being helped. Then an employee walked up to our register, ignored our presence and called the customers from the other line to the register we were waiting at and helped them. Even the customers were hesitant to go before us, knowing they had not been in line as long as us and we probably should've been helped first. We decided to eat lunch somewhere else. The employee could've asked who was next, or even just said "Hi, I'll be with you in a minute". Or something acknowledging our presence. We will probably go else where for lunch from now on read more

Having come to the world of organic stores via my obsession with Whole Foods while living in Austin my expectations for similar stores is quite high. I can happily say... that on most occasions Mama Jean's not only meets but often exceeds my expectations. The selection is phenomenal for a store in this area and the staff is so incredibly nice that its amazing. the bulk section is pretty much my favorite place in town. (the vegetable pepper... just try it, I promise) my only wish ( and this isnt their fault by any means) is that there was a larger selection of vegan baked goods. *sigh* its not enough to detract from my adoration! read more

Love this place! I just moved to MO from San Diego and the closest Trader Joe's is over an hour away so this is a great substitute! They have everything from regular grocery items (perishable food, canned and frozen food), to toiletries, deli items and drinks. There are plenty of locations around and some are bigger than others so beware of that. My only complaint is I wish there was one in Fair Grove/Marshfield where we live . read more

Whenever I'm in town, I always stop by. Since I'm on a special diet, I always find specialty items that fit my dietary needs, especially dairy-free and gluten-free foods. On top of that, this place holds brands that I've never heard of and expand my palette and options. I usually find something new to try. The store is well organized and well stocked. This place is great! Yeah, they have all the regular health food store stuff, prices are a bit higher, but not much - and they have a discount card they'll give you, so the "higher prices" aren't. The fresh food they prepare is outstanding. I hate bleu cheese dressing - but I always take a free sample - and wow this stuff was good, I bought some! Soups are some of the best in town, and they have fresh olives for less than the nearby grocery store. The bulk section is outstanding. Herbs, spices, and teas - at prices that are amazing! The spices are 1st quality, but you can buy as much or as little as you need, and the prices are way less than Wal Mart for most of them. The teas easily compare to fine teas you'd have to mail order to get in Springfield - at prices that compare to Wal Mart! Also, they have fresh catnip. I have an alley cat that ignores catnip - tried the cheap stuff, premium stuff, mail order stuff - then I spent a mere .75 for a sack of the fresh stuff and wow she's hooked on it. The organic produce is outstanding - some of it is a bit pricey, but it is organic, but a lot of it is larger than the regular store's stuff (like the green onions) or sold by the pound (like the lettuce). As far as I know, this is the ONLY place in town to get multiple varieties of garlic (seasonal when available). The potato selection is also varied and good. They no longer carry The Coffee Ethic coffee which was a big reason why I would shop there, I could get local coffee and oat milk along with other items all in one stop. Now I will have to go elsewhere for my coffee needs. read more

This is the BEST Mama Jeans location in Springfield. The larger stores may have more square footage, but the shelves are just more bare. So it's deceiving. I drove across town to visit the Sunshine store I'd heard so much about, and was disappointed. It doesn't hold a candle to the one on Republic. This location has full shelves and the same selection. I love the organic ginger and turmeric root. I love the locally sourced beef and chicken and bison. And the local eggs! I'm not lucky enough to know anyone who has chickens and who doesn't love the vibrant, orange yolks of a happy, free-range farm chicken?! read more

This is a great place to find organic and healthy foods in the Springfield area. The prices on some items are steep, but you can find great deals on bulk goods like cereal, nuts, dried fruit, crystallized ginger, beans, flour, etc. Mama Jeans also does cooking classes, which I haven't checked out but have heard good things about. You can also find a variety of natural teas, organic HBA products, and prepared deserts as well. Definitely something to check out if you're into the organic/green craze that's shaping the way American consumers shop! read more

Probably my favorite place to purchase groceries and eat lunch in Springfield. Quality food, quality ingredients, quality people. The employees made an effort to learn my name and are so friendly. I haven't even been there yet and I already love this place! I am coming to Springfield next week for a family reunion and needed to scope out a place to get some vegan foods and other groceries. I found MJNM on-line and called to see what all they offered. I spoke with Judy on the phone who was delightfully friendly and informative! It sounds like MaMa Jean's will have everything I need and more, and is located quite near our hotel. Score! I will have to update this review once I have actually visited the store, lol, but I am already sold on their customer service, inventory, and location. My vegan food was cheap and enjoyable perfectly filling and was nicely presented the only reason it doesn't have the fifth star is because the bread was slightly off. But over all great experience would recommend!!! read more

I wish I could say I'm a total health food nut, I'm not. But this place is helping me get there. They are in my opinion by far the best place for all your fresh herbs, local and organic produce, coffees, teas, home remedies and anything else healthy related. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Lots of healthy organic stuff here. Lots of staff and all very helpful and friendly. They have a paleo pizza crust that is amazing. I try to stay low carb and it's made with almond flour, I load it up at home and I'm happy happy. They also make Panini's and smoothies in the deli. read more

I love the bulk section -- popcorn for my air-popper can be so expensive at other stores, or even out of stock! -- and I get a big bag of sunflower seeds then refill the jar again and again. The several varieties of salt are great if you're experimenting with scrubs or bath salts as you can get just a teaspoon or so of each and figure out which will work best for your purposes. I also like that they have many different types of vegetable, fruit, and nut oils. Someone mentioned the "discount card" -- the one I am familiar with has a 2.5% rate: $5.00 off after you buy $200 worth of merchandise. Not enough to bring the prices in line with non-health-food type places as they implied, but still a nice little bonus. If there is another card, LMK so I can pick it up! read more
