Seafood and Scallion Pancake
Annabelle L.

A local mom pop Korean restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Upon entry, we were greeted by the owner. The menu were not extensive but it has all the popular common dishes: beef, pork or chicken, rice and japchae which are clear glass noodles. We ordered out usual comfort Korean dishes like beef bulgogi, tofu dish, japchae and fried seafood Pancake. The side dishes, banchan, are complimentary and a hit. Overall, service and food is decent.

My husband and I always enjoy dining at Seoulville. We recently visited on Thursday night around 6pm, before most people in Somerville come out for dinner. We were the first diners to arrive. We were greeted with a friendly hello and promptly seated in the contemporary but softly lit dining room. We ordered hot tea to drink, which hit the spot on a damp windy March evening. FYI, Seoulville is a BYOB restaurant. We enjoyed an appetizer sampler plate of "9 delicacies", various picked vegetables, steamed shrimp, Bulgogi meat and Korean mini pancakes. It was a light and tasty sampler. For dinner my husband had the bulgogi which is served with seasoned vegetables. He opted to add optional seasoned rice and a fried egg. I opted for the bulgogi soup which is the sliced prime rib served in a flavorful mushroom broth (I counted at least 3 different varieties of mushrooms in the broth. The broth also contained sliced jalapeño, carrots, and glass noodles. It is a hearty and filling soup. Both dishes were served piping hot in hot pots. Refills were provided for our hot tea. Although we have visited the restaurant several times over the past few years since it moved to its present location, this is my first review. The food and the service are consistently good.

Mom and pop excellent ambiance service was great everyone was very attentive. Went above and beyond with my children's food. Dessert was great that my kids loved it. Living in NYC and visiting NJ for the day would definitely recommend this restaurant.

5 people and we left hungry

Mediocre across the board. Nothing was terrible, nothing outstanding. The servings are quite small. We ordered wings for $16,they were sticky and cheap. Never again! The bibimbap and bulgogi were fine and were enhanced by the Korean BBQ sauce. I liked the persimmon drink and the burdock tea is warming on a cold day. The prices on the menu do not match what we were charged. For instance, the wings on the menu were $16 but we were charged $17. Other dishes were 2 or 3 dollars above the menu. Rice wasn't included in all dishes. The owner rushed us the whole time even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. We had dishes taken away that still had plenty of food.

japchae and chicken bibimbap

We went to Seoulville for some late night Korean food in Somerville on the weekend. Initially, we thought the restaurant was closed, but upon entering, we realized that the windows were just tinted. We were the only diners during the entirety of our meal despite coming an hour before closing. The entire time, we felt as if we were being rushed by the staff which took away from our experience. Regardless, the food was not bad and I actually enjoyed my japchae. My boyfriend ordered the chicken bibimbap which is hard to find at Korean restaurants and his main comment was the lack of spice. Overall, Seoulville is a solid Korean restaurant in a cute town and I would recommend coming, but well before the closing time.

Dolsot Bibimbap, Jobchae
Punura W.

I was craving some bibimbap, and my girlfriend suggested Seoulville since it has a chicken option unlike most places. We arrived around 9:00 PM and saw that there was no one there; we thought they were closing up even though they close at 10:00 PM. After speaking with them, they said the kitchen closes at 9:30 PM, which was fine by us since we knew what we were going to order. Once seated, we ordered right away and got the chicken bibimbap and jobchae. I liked my bibimbap but felt as though I needed more red sauce on it since I like my spice but didn't want to keep requesting more sauce from my waitress. My girlfriend liked her jobchae as well. Overall, this was a good restaurant to try out and it has a nice atmosphere.

Food: who does not like some stir-fried food? I mean you are not a fan of stir-fried food, do plan a different lunch option! Service: this looks like a family-owned spot. People seem to have a vested interest in customers being taken care of. They also have a lightness and calm in their movements. Not sure if it is the ambiance or the way they move but it was calming. Parking: Somerville has a lot of parking lots. You may have to walk a few minutes but it is also enjoyable to walk the streets of Somerville. Value: the pricing on the menu looked reasonable. The food was also delicious This is all around a great place to go to enjoy delicious food in a welcoming spot.

A superb korean restaurant in the heart of Somerville. Simple and cleanly adorned restaurant is a great so of you are looking for just a snack or a meal, so many great options. We ordered the Seoulville K.F.C, Cheesy Spicy Chicken Special, Burdock Tea, Tong Samgyupsal Special. The Seoulville KFC fried chicken was tasty but be prepared for smaller sized chicken pieces. The cheesy spicy chicken special was our first time having cheese in our dish. After seeing it in so many Korean drama, we were eager to give it a try and it did not disappoint. It went so well with the spicy chicken and even better with the Tteokbokki. The oven baked pork belly was my favorite dish. Crispy on the outside yet juicy and tender on the inside left you wanting more and more. Staff are friendly and helpful. The pricing is slightly higher than other Korean restaurants but we'll worth in the end.

Staff were super attentive and accommodating - we appreciate the great service on a holiday! Ambiance felt modern and more futuristic - black, sleek counters and tables with K-Pop playing on all the TVs. Food was easy to order with the iPad and came out within a reasonable amount of time post ordering. Food selection was solid - we ended up just getting the hotpot option so we shared all the dishes that came out and put them in our individual pots. Flavors were solid and quality was fine. It was a typical AYCE experience so we left full, but we had a good time. Thanks, KPOT!

I love Ramen so of course I had to try ramen noodles in the Szechuan Spicy hot pot with garlic cloves. We used the grill to cook our onions, peppers and more garlic cloves with garlic shrimp, beef bulgogi, short ribs, steak and I tried the beef tongue. I couldn't remember how my grandmother made it but putting it directly on the grill wasn't it... lol! I will try again after looking up a few recipes! The staff there is awesome and very helpful. I went with a friend who K-Pots frequently so she was mainly fixing ours and showing me the ropes and adding my choices on request; basically showing me what and how to prepare. We chose the dinner option during lunch hours to get premium meats. Our server was always coming to make sure we were ok and I wish I could remember her name now. So sorry! I have to say I enjoyed the entire experience; ambience of the lighting, music, table setup, staff, and there was an anime event they were preparing for! It is definitely an experience to be had and I will be going back real soon!

Couldn't decide so we ordered a few apps (KFC chicken, edamame and scallion pancake) all of which were delicious. Decided to get bao buns and fried rice. Note: ordered chicken and shrimp but should have specified we wanted one dish with both meats - instead we got 2 bowls - which just means more for lunch tomorrow! Staff stayed calm when the lights flickered a few times and just said "hopefully the chefs are almost done with your meals because we don't have a generator"). Had to dodge a few broken trees on 94 on the way home but all in all a great meal! Also it's BYOB but really didn't miss the wine - Yuzu ade was refreshing on this 90+ degree day.

I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

The meat quality was actually on par with some à la carte Korean BBQ spots I've been to. The banchan was solid, sauces were good, and the servers were attentive and helped cook without rushing you. Ventilation was also really good, which matters at places like this. Also loved that they were playing 2000s to 2010s K-pop, which is a vibe. Overall I really enjoyed it and would recommend. I've come here a few times over the years, and I have repeatedly had problems. I typically ask for the meat on the side, and there's about a 50/50 chance it comes on top. They also messed up my order several times, and there's a chance they refuse to replace it (even if the receipt item doesn't match with what they gave me). I do not blame the cashiers or workers for this because I've ordered with several of them and had the exact same issues. This is a management-level problem. Most recently, they charged me for something I didn't order and said they were unable to do a partial refund. I told them that I didn't order the item and didn't want it, and they told me that a refund wasn't possible, so they gave me the item and a bonus soda. I can understand making a mistake every once in a while, but this is excessive. I won't be coming back to eat here again, and I can't recommend this place to anyone.
