Me and my family are probably some of this location's best customers, however I can assure you we will NOT be back after a terrible encounter with them.
If you are of a visible minority, expect to be followed around the store and accused of stealing their products. We purchase their products consistently, and if the staff knew how to do their job correctly, they would know we are some of their best customers.
This past Sunday, we walked in and not even a minute in the store did one of their bright staff members rush to us and demand that my cousin carry around their little basket. After politely declining, the staff member said "No I would PREFER you carry this around!" Not even seconds later did she whisper in her little mic and have security TAIL us through the store and refuse to leave us alone. An older male security guard proceeded to stand next to me in an empty aisle and watch me. It wasn't until I requested him to get me an actual staff member who can help me with the products and not just stand there did he finally leave my side.
The previous staff member then proceeded to whisper to the rest of the staff at cash and gesture towards myself, my sister and my cousin. After purchasing our products we approached staff and made them aware that we were not stealing and they were wrong to accuse us. Of course, the girl denied ever thinking we did and did not apologize.
To immediately target three girls of a visible minority that have JUST entered their store not only a minute after is clearly an act of racism and ignorance.
It's a shame what took place at this Sephora location. To be such consistent customers of a store and then treated so poorly by racist and judgemental staff members who arnt even aware of who their best customers are is disheartening.
To the staff at the Mic Mac Mall Sephora location- Congratulations, you just lost 3 of your best customers. read more
