I was going…read morein after a number of bad color experiences to get my hair done and she completely corrected everything. I really only have one complaint about my experience at this salon and it has nothing to do with Rachel. I would highly recommend her to anyone and in fact plan to return and get my hair done with her again. She's extremely friendly and very nice and she explains everything thoroughly and in detail. She obviously enjoys her job and is good at it.The complaint I have though has to do with what happened at the end of my visit. The manager took a major attitude with me when I said I couldn't leave a tip right now. I realize that this is bad form and it might make some people angry and react like maybe I deserved the attitude, but look....I had already made it clear that I couldn't afford the additional expense, and no one deserves the kind of attitude I got. Now, some people might think that I shouldn't get my hair done at all if I can't also afford to leave a tip, but this was ultimately unexpected due to a couple things. I didn't go into the situation thinking that would happen. First off, the coupon I had didn't work at the register, and I was really relying on being able to get that discount. I think that might have been because it was a coupon that was for either a salon service or a purchase and I put everything into one so it took the percentage off of my purchase instead of my salon service. Plus, the service ended up costing more than I initially expected. I mentioned to Rachel when she was doing my hair that money was extremely tight to begin with, and that has only been made worse because I have just been diagnosed with a number of major skin allergies and have had to replace pretty much everything in my house from the most basic thing like laundry soap on up to shampoo and body wash. I had to get everything new that didn't have the allergy-causing ingredients in it, and in fact part of my transaction included exchanging lotion that I was allergic to. So I legitimately couldn't afford the tip by the time all was said and done. None of this personal stuff was Rachel's fault, but I also can't change what I am able to do. I felt awful about it, because she really did an amazing job, and getting some random attitude from the manager didn't help me feel the most comfortable with returning. But I want to make it clear that my limitation today in no way reflects on Rachel or the fantastic work she did and I hope she didn't end up thinking that it did or thinking I was unhappy with her work. I tip well when I can afford it and unfortunately things came together today where I couldn't do that. Hopefully by the time my next appointment comes around I will be in a better place with being able to afford additional things and will be able to give her a nice tip then. All this aside, I definitely recommend Rachel if you were looking for a stylist in the area and have had trouble finding someone great. She's really excellent and takes pride in making sure the finished style looks good!

I carried on, thinking I was being too sensitive. By the time I reached the other side of the store, there it was again. And no, I'm not being too sensitive... this is 100% inappropriate, so I decided in that moment to leave. Oh, and remember how no one spoke to me while I was in the store? Well, as I was walking out of the store, and white man walked into the store, and both ladies jumped at the bit to make sure they spoke. Needless and sad to say... I will certainly not be back.
