3.5 stars I came with the purpose of finding a similar product to one that I had finished using. One of the staff came around and asked if anyone needed any assistance. There wasn't an exact replica, but she did recommend a couple of products that could be used in place of the one I had. The line to pay was quite long, stretching out halfway through the store, and there were already several cashiers working. A couple more staff joined, and the line moved rather quickly. read more

Even during a pandemic this place is busy. I came on a Saturday afternoon in December (I know my mistake). It was quite busy. I was able to find a beauty consultant to help me with some makeup colour questions. But trying to cash out was a chore. The lineup was long. I was able to get to the express lineup but the bag they gave me was awful. It looked like it'd been mashed up & forgotten in a corner until they needed a bag for me. Yep I got the ancient mashed up bag. It was paper not the glossy cardboard ones they usually give. Wasn't too impressed with that. Next time I want to shop during the holidays I think I'd rather buy online & avoid the long lineups. read more

Yesterday, 31 August 2023, we went shopping to Sephora in Fairview Mall, North York, Ontario. Would like to thank NADINE for excellent service and help she provided us with Tom Ford - "Tobacco Vanilla" and Kilian Paris "Straight to Heaven" perfumes. She was very active, energetic, happy to assist, creative and super professional to get all required information. They decided to delete my last review because somebody on yelp is clearly a sensitive sally - even though I told nothing but the truth. This rating is deserved; the sephora @ fairview SUCKS. The customer service there is non existent. There are greeters that don't want to greet, obviously. They stand at the front bored and lifeless.. honestly just put a scarecrow or something, it'll do the same job. I think I've been greeted once? upon entering. The products are messy and staff in general are a mess. I'm not sure what kind of interview process they have here, but hire some girls to work at a makeup store that can at least blend their eyeshadow and match their foundation to their neck. It's so hard to get service here when you actually need it. You're on your own. I had to exchange a lip balm once that I got as a gift; at that time the sephora policy was that you could return stuff without a receipt- the lid wouldn't come off the lip balm and when asking the cashier, she closed off my request with 'nothing I can do'. The girl behind her just said "you can switch it" and the girl helping me shook her head and refused. There's a huuuuge lack of service and care in this store. It feels like I get better help from the staff in the walmart cosmetic aisle, honestly. read more

I was a little bit weary to come to this Sephora after reading the reviews on yelp. I was actually surprised at how nice everyone in the store was. I came in to exchange some products and purchase some other things. The sales associates were very helpful and friendly. I would give them a 3.7 rating overall. My reason is because the employees at Sephora Yorkdale will offer you samples before you purchase the product. At this location, they push you to purchase the product and return it if it doesn't work. As someone with extremely sensitive skin, I think this will cost Sephora more money in the long run. If I keep buying products that don't work, I envision they go into the trash when I return them. This cycle could be eliminated if I was given a sample, which would allow me to discover the product didn't work without wasting an entire bottle. It would also eliminate unnecessary waste and profit losses on Sephora's budget. read more

Because Fairview is apparently on a shortage supply of gift boxes from Head Office per 2 sales people's mention, they don't readily want to give them to you unless you ask. I bought cologne I had on hold, from them as an XMas gift and when I asked for a gift box, I was told they had none as they've continuously asked HQ for them and they are not sending them to the store. ( Odd, because Bayview Village has plenty and I didn't have to ask when I shopped there last week ). Anyhow, a second sales person said they had them and they were literally sitting in plain view so not sure why the first person didn't know this or pretended not to- I think it's a matter of pick and choose which customers get them. Fast forward, it was the wrong product that was placed on hold and they sold out what I wanted. I found the correct cologne at Shoppers Drug Mart and went to return what I bought at Sephora. Silly me- I should have kept the box because when I returned the cologne, I asked the person if I could keep the box( I'm a regular but will never return to this location) and she says "I don't know as we don't have a lot." (i.e; meaning "no"). She blamed HQ and I'd like to know WHY at Holiday time, HQ will not send them gift boxes??? So, part of me feels like it's my fault and I should've kept it but guess I was too honest but I also feel they have zero customer service skills nor do they act in good faith- like, take it up with Management not the customer. I shouldn't have to pay the price for their supply issues. This isn't the end of the world as it's just a gift box to which I'm going on principle. Just feeling a little conflicted, here. P.S. Sephora at Fairview has terrible customer service. They have no problem overcharging for items (Shoppers carries same products on line cheaper) but when it comes to standing behind those same products they run. They refused to EXCHANGE a NARS blush where the tube malfunctioned but instead I had to deal with "one of the managers" who refused my request as I do not have the receipt. This so-called manager severely lacks customer service skills and hasn't yet figured out who is paying her salary. I will not buy anything from Sephora in the future..I don't need to hear what a 20 something little girl has to say. There is a reason these employees are in makeup sales. read more

I love Sephora for a variety of reasons - lots of different brands you won't find elsewhere in the drugstores or even in some department stores in Canada; testers of everything - they will even open up a new product if the tester is missing or used up; lots of makeup remover/tissues around; lots of testing sticks (lipstick, foundation sticks - sorry don't know what to call them) so you don't swipe the lipstick directly on your lips; lots of easy to spot staff in their red/black outfits. This location is smaller than others - STC is bigger. Also here for some reason there is a limited supply of makeup remover/tissue stations - they seem to have taken some away so you have to hunt them down. The staff aren't as friendly in this location as others but I haven't had any major issues. They always give out samples of products, including perfume if you ask them as they rather you test it out instead of buying it and returning it and therefore wasting product. This Sephora doesn't have all the brands the other ones carry for some reason (probably because it is smaller) but it's still annoying because I don't want to run around the city to different Sephoras to get what I want. read more

I had a horrible experience here last Saturday, December 4, 2021. Judging from all the other bad reviews here, this is the norm for this location. I went to this Sephora at 10:30 am. I was looking for gifts for friends and family. I usually love Sephora and tend to spend a lot of money when I am shopping at a store. I approached an employee and asked her about a particular product. I had a picture of it on my phone. She squinted at the picture from 5 feet away and said "We don't have it." Then, she walked away! No offer of finding something else suitable and she did not ask if I was looking for anything else. She just... walked away. She could have cared less if I left the store without buying anything, which I did. I also agree with another reviewer about the way the employees look at this location. The employee in question was a mess: greasy, blond-orange hair with 6-inch black roots and very badly applied make-up. Sephora head office never replies to concerns/complaints, but they really need to take a look at this location. Being treated badly seems to be this location's M.O. Probably the best $ 10 I've spent. I have oily skin. Which sucks. When I pose for the camera, it shines. So I came to Sephora to find a solution. I was intimidated with the oversupply of powerful estrogen and womanhood in the room - zebra style shelves and tons of make ups. Beauty industry must be booming. Shy and embarrassed, I approach the sales associate with my dilemma. She paused and contemplated and came up with two possible solutions; a powder or a paper. Because I was, and still am, unwilling to bring a face powder in my briefcase AND a face brush (huh?) ... we settled to this blotting paper. She showed me how it works and recommended other products. That thing sucks oil like crazy. But this review is not at all about their products, it's about the experience and joy of being inside Sephora. Sales associates LOVE and KNOW their products. They're serious in solving your problems and will recommend, without being pushy, for products. What impresses me most was when the sales associate told me to test their products first before I buy because i might be sensitive to it. I bet she's not on commission. Listen Future Shop. I really enjoyed this store and too bad I won't have use for much of their products. For obvious reason - Sephora and gym don't mix. So you girls, now I know why you're addicted to beauty shops. It is not just about the products - it's about the experience of buying them. You're busted. I want to love this location but almost every single time I'm in there the staff is incredibly rude & unprofessional. In the last 4-5 months I've only had one positive, helpful experience. I was in yesterday to look into get a primer & was shocked at how the sales girl acted. While I was talking she just stared at me like a bug on my face, looked so unimpressed that I asked for help, her tone, body language was so shut off. When we walked over to see a product another sales girl came up to the one helping me & they started chatting about random stuff, the sales girl helping me whole tone & body language changed while talking to her coworker in a positive way then went right back to a rude, shut off sales help to me. Seriously...Entrance 3 of Fairview Mall has nearly everything I'm usually looking for when I need a post-work (non-alky) pick-me-up: Forever XXI, Bath & Body, Food, Salon/Spa, & Sephora. This happens to be the Sephora closest to where I work (when I'm in Markham), so it's an easy trek down Leslie/Don Mills & a very easy trek onto the 401 to get home. Nice way to kill time and avoid traffic. Anyway... Sephora. I love everything about it. From the black & white shopping bags to the loads of testers to try. I've been pretty lucky at this location w/ grabbing the VIB giveaways a few days after the deal hits my email inbox, unlike other Sephoras in the GTA. And now that I've said that, please don't all go and rush this location the next time a giveaway is announced... please? read more

Sephora is a glamorous cosmetic store that carries high-end makeup products, beauty tools etc. They have a few locations around the city but I'm not too crazy about this particular location as its small and almost always crowded when I'm there. Also, I've never been able to catch the attention of any worker there to help me when needed. I do like how everything is neatly organized, all the products I want in stock and that they always have tidy testers available. This Sephora is a good place to go if you know what you want so you can buy it and leave. If you're looking for help, or want to get your face done, you may not have that chance as it's usually rowdy and crowded. read more

This is currently my favourite Sephora location. Maybe it was a lucky day, but the sales associate and managers here are a spectacular bunch. I came here to look for a discontinued perfume for my brother's fiance. After having a bad experience at the Eaton Centre Sephora, I was beyond impressed by the level of customer service at sephora fairview. Wow! Not only did they bend over backwards to make sure I left the store happy and satisfied but BOTH the managers took the time to come over and apologize for something that was beyond their control. Not once did any of the SA's or managers lose patience or look like they wanted me out of their hair. This really makes up for my experiences at the other locations. Eaton's should learn a thing or two about customer service from the ladies here. Keep up the good work fairview! read more

I love Sephora - but I'm not too hot about this location. It's quite small and doesn't carry as wide a selection of brands as other locations (they didn't used to have Bobbi Brown!) and if you're into nail stations like the one at Eaton Centre, you're out of luck. Also no samples :( Sometimes I find that they have stocking issues... once I went to look for a Clinique sunscreen and they were completely sold out. I ended up purchasing it at Sears at the opposite end of the mall. The very same situation almost happened recently with a Livingproof hair product but they were able to dig out the last one. I've taken to simply ordering online if I'm too lazy to go in person :$ The only reason I do come here all the time is because I live super close to Fairview Mall so it's really convenient if I happened to be in the mall and just want to browse around Sephora or if I'm looking for staple products or cult favourites (hardly ever out of stock). Personally I also find that the store associates are really nice and not as pushy as in other locations. This isn't the best Sephora out there. I find that the one in Newmarket is the nicest for some reason... and Eaton Center has the most professional employees. I've gotten some ridiculous advice here. Something along the lines of tinted moisturizer for oily skin...ARE YOU DRUNK!?!?!? Just a tip, if you park on the upper level lot and go through the entrance there you will get straight to the store! No need to walk around :) Check out the Bath & Body Works right next door....and get some of them triple moisture creams. read more

I asked someone to help me find an item. I showed her the item on my phone. She took a look the picture and then at a distance 20 ft away she looked at the shelf and said "we don't sell that, only online." After I left the store, I checked online and it stated that this store has the item. I went back to seek help fr someone else and actually walked to the shelf, opened a drawer to look for it. She didn't think the store carried it either, but I found it in the drawer. It is such a disappointment every single time I go into the store. There is often more than enough workers on the floor, but majority are not helpful, knowledgeable about the products or just looks annoyed that they need to help me. I wish this item was available online so that I don't have to come into the store to seek assistance. Maybe if the shelf was stocked I wouldn't have to endure terrible customer service. I was lucky that I didn't leave the mall yet, otherwise I would have to waste time and effort to come back another day. read more

I went in for a cooler match for foundation. I was matched to 2Y08 on the machine by a sales girl but when given samples I was given colours that were much deeper like Y435 and Y445 (Makeupforever Water blend) where the woman highly recommended Y445 on my skin. I tried it on my hand and it looked like I had a deep sun burn, I have a yellow undertones in my skin. I ended up just choosing a really light yellowy shade (CLINIQUE Superbalanced Silk Makeup- Saharaa ) which was a completely different from what was recommended!! Why is the question? Why give me much darker makeup recommendations if it clearly doesn't match my skin and on the color iq? The makeup woman had a weird attitude and kept pushing me towards darker colors, which didn't match my hand, which is a different color than my face! read more

The stock is good. The staff is friendly. They are very nice and will help you find what you are looking for as well as will give you samples if you ask for. Generally this place is not too busy so they have many items in stock and many rewards items too which are sometimes unavailable at busy locations read more

Seems silly to write a review about an established makeup chain, but I have always had good experiences at this particular location. First of all, I find that this location seems to be sold out of things less often than others. This is an overall problem with the Sephoras in this city - they sell out of things and don't restock often enough. One of Sephora's policies is that if you are, at any time, unhappy or unsatisfied with a product, you can return or exchange it. I bought a cream eyeliner from this Sephora several months ago and used about half of it before it decided to dry out (even though I had been keeping the lid on it). I took it back actually because I was hoping there might be some cream or something I could add, that would make it creamy again. No need! They offered to give me a new one, or exchange mine. I chose exchange and they gave me a new brand that they said was excellent AND said they would mention the problem to the sales rep that was coming in for that brand next week. Not that I expect big things to come from that per say, but I'm happy they didn't just blow it off! My only problem with Sephora (all of them) is that you need to make an appointment in advance to get makeup put on and you are required to spend a certain amount of money, while every other makeup seller does this service for free and accommodates walk-ins. I just hear people asking about it a lot and I had a party to go to one night and was downtown and wanted someone to help me touch up my makeup (without doing it myself using samples in the store) and they were very reluctant to help. WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD AT A SEPHORA. Im so angry that i was treated this way. I asked for help trying to find a lip balm, lady showed me one and i asked for a sample and the worker gave attitude and said "why? When you like it?" I mean how would i know if i really like it if i tried one product and tried it once. She then gave me the stinkiest facial expression. She was very reluctant and stingy just because I asked for a sample? Then i went to the register to buy some lash glue and asked if they accepted U.S dollars. Guy said yes but had to call a manager to do it. Lady next to him said "We're gonna have to call a manager to take U.S dollars since you know we are canadian." OK. HOW RUDE. Ive been using U.S dollars shopping all day but this was the only encounter ive had in such a rude way. I would have been totally okay with using card but her rudeness ticked me off, all because U.S dollars would have made their job a little harder. read more

Pros: Had my makeup done here for an event and I was super nervous because of the reviews on yelp. However, I went through with it and it looked AMAZING. I got complements alllll night long. I definitely recommend getting your makeup done here (but I'm not too sure if I just had an amazing makeup artist though). Most of the sales people are very helpful and kind. Cons: Sell less products (Bobbi Brown correctors, Nars loose powders, etc.) than the Scarborough Town Centre location. read more

The manner in which the employees including the managers treat customers is appalling especially if you are returning a product. I say this because on more than one occasion I've experienced this at this location. The cashier that I dealt with did not want to scan the receipt instead I had to stand there and read out the order number for her. When that was not enough coincidently they could not find my products on my account even though it was clearly visible when I checked my account and when i I called head office they too were able to confirm the products on my profile. Not to mention I had the receipts. This is a tactic they use not to take the product back in store and then you are forced to ship the products out. This was a harrowing and humiliating ordeal that I went through for 2 hours at this location. The manager Anna did absolutely nothing to correct the issue. Another manager loudly stated "the products are not hers" in front of other customers which to me implied that I stole the products. I have never been treated like this any where before regardless of where I shop. Sephora happens to be one of my favourite places to unwind but because of this experience I will NEVER go back there. Being a Rouge member for all these years meant nothing. At the end of the day I appreciate Sephora's return policy it gives a customer the confidence to try the products and if it does not work you can return it within 30 days with the receipt which I did... not to mention some of the products were unused because I found my right shade. The employees should abide by the company's policy and above all improve customer service. To be honest I believe race had a lot to do with the way I was treated because the manager mentioned the large amount of points I have in a manner in which I was not supposed to have this much. The staff isn't welcoming to every kind of person. If you look like a wealthy woman,they will treat you very kindly and ask if you need help. If you are anything else(male,teenager,average spending) then they won't great you at the door. They won't offer to help you. Horrible. I called in to make my appointment for eyebrow waxing and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. When she came back she said the eyebrow person was booked all week. I was fine with that, but once I asked when her next available appointment would be she huffed as if she were annoyed and said she "had to go allllll the way back to get the appointment book". Why the hell isn't the appointment book right by the phone anyways? Poor customer service overall and I do not recommend this hell hole. Only reason why I go there now is for my eyebrows. read more

After some time I did find someone to help me however I it looked to me like the tester products were nasty dirty especially the Tarte brand.
