I like that the train is connected to the airport terminals and will take you to Center Center and then some. That's convenient. I wish the train system's maps and stations were displayed better. The sound system on the trains could be a little louder and decipherable, too. I had to watch the map on my phone to figure out where I was because a map wasn't displayed in the car and I couldn't hear the conductor when he spoke. Keep your ticket or your phone app out. The PHL Philadelphia airport is super efficient and amazing to have SEPTA directly conveniently connected to it from Terminal E. And it's less than 20 minutes on the train to Center City 30th street station where you can get connections to other areas in PA and NJ and NYC Penn Station. And it only costs $8.75 one way. This train comes every 2x an hour at the 7 and 37 min after the hour like 10:07am and 10:37am. The ticket master will come around and stamp it and you have to keep it when you get off to get out at the turnstile. This is probably the easiest public transportation airport and the most economical way to get downtown from the airport w it being under $10 so you can avoid Uber and Lyft and use the money for food like hoagies and cheesesteaks. read more

Pretty dependable. First figure out if you're on the weekend or weekday schedule. Weekdays have trains leaving from Terminal E/F at :07 and :37. As long as it's a weekday (between 5AM and midnight), trains are running every half hour. It's truly the best/fastest/cheapest way to get to Center City (which means, Suburban Station or Jefferson Station, depending on where you choose to disembark). Tips: There's no disadvantage to getting a SEPTAKey (transit card) at the kiosk before getting on the train. It works the same way as a Ventra card (Chicago) and a MetroCard (NYC). You can just pay the ticket person if you forget to pay the fare or don't have time to purchase before the train leaves (you will not get a fine issued, they will just ask you for payment when they walk around) If you are confused about where the train goes, download the Transit app which has the live location of the train. You can generally also tap to pay with your credit card on any of the SEPTA buses/trains. If you purchased a SEPTA card (as above) you can make an online account to store the card. As of the time of writing, you cant make a digital wallet with the card. read more

This is a great train. As a frequent traveler for work and pleasure, I have been on many. This one stands out as a quality line. I will start with the negative. One of my rides was very very late and that put a damper on my day. Otherwise every other part of my travels including 3 rides on the Airport Line were hugely positive. The train is very clean, well kept, and modernized with digital features. There were attendants on each ride, and they ensured all riders were attended to and knew of the routes and each approaching stop. The trains had air conditioning in high summer heat. The ride was smooth even for a traveler prone to motion sickness. The app makes it easy to understand, and the Twitter/X feed showed the line that was late, that it was late :) Overall, a well maintained and run program. read more

Landing at a gate in terminal E via Frontier Air, the SEPTA Airport Train entrance was easy to find. But I guess we'd just missed the prior train because we waited about 45 minutes for the next one to depart. Evidently, this train runs once an hour on weekends but every half hour during the week. The machine to buy our fares wasn't working so we just got on the train & hoped for the best. After asking, the conductor said he'd come around later to collect our money, but he never did. When we arrived at Jefferson St., we were still confused because it looked like the tickets we didn't have were needed to exit the station. But then an attendant let us out as he welcomed us to Philadelphia. This was not the only time we experienced friendly SEPTA employees. The bus drivers were incredibly helpful & friendly also, allowing us to ride for few blocks in spite of not having exact change. This train was a great first experience in Philadelphia, and a safe quick way to get to Center City & Midtown. The cars were clean with plenty of seating. The cost per rider for this one-way train is $6.75; In comparison, our Lyft back Monday morning was about $26. read more

Being a tourist from Houston, I consider this Airport to Center City convenience a 5-star experience. However, it would be better if I had a better information beforehand. There were either too much information or not enough to jump at me. My initial search was like wow. When I landed, the information was overwhelming. SEPTA chat doesn't exist on the website. I was stranded at terminal E. The only info I got was at terminal A. So, I dragged my heavy carry-ons and walked over 2 miles to take the train ride. It's nice to read about the first reviewer said about the ticket price $6.75 was not changed. I got an one-way ticket from the airport. Oh man. The stairway stinks like a toilet. I only learned from making mistakes to create a better experience for my future visits. This is why this review is 5 stars. I look forward to have a better understanding on my next trip. read more

The best way to get to the city from Philadelphia International Airport is SEPTA's Airport train. To here are signs along the terminal as you walk towards baggage and transportation. Do not use the rolling sidewalk/beltway if you plan to get in the train. You can either take the stairs or the elevator down to the platform. The trains leave every half hour. Purchase your ticket from the machine before you get on the train. I do know they used to allow you to pay on the train but I think they want you to use the machine. The train stops at every terminal in the airport and then it leaves heading towards the city. This train stops at Eastwick, University of Penn aka University City, 30th Street Station, Suburban Station, Market East aka Jefferson Station downtown and also Temple University in North Philadelphia and points beyond. Temple University Station is sketchy on the platform but once you get downstairs there is security. Do not throw away the ticket because you need it to scan the exit stall on the way out. I had to wait for an Uber. No seats but it wasn't a long wait. read more

The best way for me to travel to Philadelphia International Airport from Harrisburg is Amtrak ($35) to Septa's Airport Line for $6.75 from 30th Street Station. Weekday service is every 30 minutes and weekends is hourly. Schedules change so check which times the train leaves and arrives. What I discovered on my last trip is that you can stay on the airport line and get off at Jefferson Station (or any others along the route) which is right next to Reading Terminal Market. I love getting food there, so this is perfect when I have time to kill between my flight and train ride home. The train stops at all terminals at the airport, so you can get to your gate with relative ease, except for F, which is a little bit of a walk from E where the line terminates. Great resource for a nice price. Much easier than driving and so convenient! read more
