This sweet little store offers a very comprehensive malay menu (77 items!) and some of the best value meals I have encountered in west end. I usually get the crisp and fresh vegetarian spring rolls, and the yummy chef's special of kaffir lime fried chicken. But be sure to also stick around for dessert! (sticky black rice pudding with coconut milk = amazing) And with under $15 a meal what's not to love about Little Malaysia?

My partner and I had been recommended Little Malaysia by a friend months ago when looking for a…read moregood laksa, but unfortunately had only been around West End on Tuesdays - when they're closed. Until now. Was on a nice drive when BAM - hunger struck. What better time than now to try? Got a park close (free on weekends - score) and decided against the specials board. We couldn't resist the temptation of our old friends Singapore noodles and char kuey teow. The place had a few people around, but was easy to grab a seat and sip on our iced teas. Oh, they also have bubble tea too. My partner's Singapore noodles came out within 5 minutes and my char kuey teow wasn't long after. Oh yeah, that hit the spot. Nice smokey flavour, enough spice to taste it but not to be overwhelming, good ratio of noodle to bean sprouts. Just how I like it. The seafood is what usually makes or breaks it for me, and this was not broken. Tasty and well cooked for the meal. My partner says that the Singapore noodles tasted good but weren't the best. I like mine with a lot of lemon and none was provided but that's just my thoughts. So, small, cheap, tasty, fast, friendly service. I'd come back, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

As is normal with Chinese / Malaysian Restaurants there is a very wide range of meals that Im slowly making my way through!! Its priced well and I always walk away very satisified! I normally share a few meals with my friends to mix it up and am never disappointed!!

The restaurant is subdued, relaxed and not too flashy, and serves its meals in the traditional manner (plates to share). The menu is extensive and has some great Chinese and Malaysian options. The staff expect to have to help you with menu choices because some of the menu listings are a little abstract to say the least. "Seafood Supreme in Birds Nest" ($19.50) is such an example. The San Choi Bau ($18.50) is high on my list of recommendations, as is the Braised King Prawns in Champagne Sauce ($17.50). There is a spinning plate in the middle of each round table, which makes sharing easy to manage. I've always enjoyed coming here- it's a neat, tucked away restaurant that is as good as any Chinese Malaysian place that you'll find in the more popular inner suburbs. It's all in the name 'Treasure House'.
