I have always been charmed with the owners here. Always…read moreready with a smile and with their cute kids running around the shop, this is a very enjoyable place to eat. This sweet little store offers a very comprehensive malay menu (77 items!) and some of the best value meals I have encountered in west end. I usually get the crisp and fresh vegetarian spring rolls, and the yummy chef's special of kaffir lime fried chicken. But be sure to also stick around for dessert! (sticky black rice pudding with coconut milk = amazing) And with under $15 a meal what's not to love about Little Malaysia?

My partner and I had been recommended Little Malaysia by a friend months ago when looking for a…read moregood laksa, but unfortunately had only been around West End on Tuesdays - when they're closed. Until now. Was on a nice drive when BAM - hunger struck. What better time than now to try? Got a park close (free on weekends - score) and decided against the specials board. We couldn't resist the temptation of our old friends Singapore noodles and char kuey teow. The place had a few people around, but was easy to grab a seat and sip on our iced teas. Oh, they also have bubble tea too. My partner's Singapore noodles came out within 5 minutes and my char kuey teow wasn't long after. Oh yeah, that hit the spot. Nice smokey flavour, enough spice to taste it but not to be overwhelming, good ratio of noodle to bean sprouts. Just how I like it. The seafood is what usually makes or breaks it for me, and this was not broken. Tasty and well cooked for the meal. My partner says that the Singapore noodles tasted good but weren't the best. I like mine with a lot of lemon and none was provided but that's just my thoughts. So, small, cheap, tasty, fast, friendly service. I'd come back, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Best Malaysian hawker food in Brisbane! We revisited this…read morerestaurant for Sunday lunch so that we could try the assam laksa which they only make on weekends. It was magnificent - a spicy, fishy, sour, fragrant soup topped with pineapple, cucumber & red onion. We also had some roti canai, belacan green beans and succulent fried chicken wings - which were all amazing. The flavours were so authentic and the prices are almost Malaysian too. 5 February 2017 Rating 4 This tiny cafe/restaurant serves authentic and good value Malaysian food. We shared a seafood laksa, fried noodles, assam fish with rice and the chicken wings and it was all delicious!! We'll be back to try some more dishes soon!!

Let's start off with the positives, the Roti Canai was beautiful…read more The Roti was fresh, flakey, hot and melt in your mouth consistency, paired with a moreish beef curry sauce (no meat). The perfect starter to our meal. For the main, the beef Ho Fun was steaming hot with great texture, and had the perfect meat/veg/noodle ratio. The sliced beef was tender, and the vegetables added a nice fresh crunch to the dish. (Spring onion, bean sprouts) Jen asked the waitress for a recommendation who answered that the "Chefs special fried rice" was very popular and the most ordered fried rice dish. Naturally she ordered this, though, after placing our order, we sat waiting for what seemed an eternity between, my main (Ho fun) coming out, and the fried rice main. When it came out, it was hot, had a larger than average portion size, which compensated for it's absolute lack of anything good. This was made very apparent by the utter and pure disappointment in Jen's facial expression upon tasting this "Chefs special fried rice". Which was essentially a brown coloured steaming heap of MANURE, for $14. It tasteless with the absence of seasoning. We had our fingers crossed, for a moment of redemption when Jen pushed her spoon through the yolk of the fried egg which topped the dish, hoping for a runny flow of orange gold....but instead was met with a dry, chalky over cooked rubbery puck. The type of yolk that sticks in your throat. Abysmal. After two mouthfuls, the disappointment was too much for Jen, she battled with the idea of taking it home in a container, or to approach the staff to query whether something was missing. She was met with a defensive front of house, who proceeded to take the dish to the Chef which we could hear yelling "that's how it's supposed to taste". We were met with no compensation while the meal was dumped in the bin right in front of us. TLDR; SHITTY FRIED RICE, but get the Roti :) - Mike.
