Some of the items looked slightly less than clean but in overall probably okay since I didn't smell anything the second I walked in like some other second-hand shops. I would recommend requesting an itemized receipt, and examining it closely, especially if you were supposed to get a discount. I just looked at my receipt and it's just the total amount on my debit card but is not itemized. I'm pretty sure I did not get the advertised discount one at least one item, even though I reminded the clerk. She admitted to forgetting it and seemed to be making adjustments but I was distracted and after I left the store I realized I was overcharged. Easily a misunderstanding but given the only other review seemed to question the integrity of the operation a watchful eye seems appropriate.

My last consignment had over 40 items (Jag, Dansko, Gap, Cut Loose). When I checked several months later, she said she had no record of them. They must, she said, have not sold and been sent to a charity. Or, alternatively, they had not been put out yet. I walked over, picked up a pair of the Danskos off the shelf and brought them to her. She got quite angry and said, OK I'll give you what's in your account (a few dollars) and we'll terminate our relationship. That's fine, but even at consignment rates, she probably owed me a couple of hundred dollars. She is a bad businesswoman and dishonest to boot. Eastsound should give her that boot.

But thankfully, the store had several clearance racks and shelves outside of the front of the store. I found extremely reasonably priced and very adorable shirts to bring home. But when I stopped in Joe Fridays Shirt Company, yes it could scream 'tourist trap', but I wanted to get a souvenir for myself and my son. We usually love hoodies and T shirts from places visited. The counter person was a standout, very welcoming and willing to answer any questions. I ended up scoring on items that were marked down for the season. Nice quality T shirts that also came with baseball caps. Whoever that saleswoman was, sincere gratitude for being a positive, friendly ambassador representing your business and community in Friday Harbor.

Most of the items are either made local or sweatshop free in the USA. This is the kind of quality I want to spend money on and is generally a deciding factor when I make any purchase. I also wanted to speak about the simplicity of the decor and layout of the shop. Great merchandising as it really draws the eye in.
