The entire place is comfortable, clean, and quiet - just what I want when I'm going on a vacation! The grounds are nice as well, and we had a nice late afternoon walking around the grounds and watching deer from the porch! The breakfasts are great, very delicious and filling, and they even cater to coffee addicts like me by having a keurig out and available all day long. It's a short drive to Ricketts Glen state park from here, and if you are planning a trip out there I HIGHLY recommend staying here. It's the perfect place to relax after a hike in the park! Owners Linda and Bill have created a lovely and calming atmosphere throughout this historic home. Classic and uncluttered, all the rooms are spotlessly clean and appointed with comfortable beds and well chosen simple decor. Certainly not the stereotypical lace, floral wallpapered and wall-to-wall dusty antique kind of B&B. Breakfast is always delicious, as are the frequent evening cookies left on the entry table for guests to enjoy at the end if the day. Will continue to make this our home-away-from-home when visiting our Bucknell student.

After a day of work-related travel, coming back to soft music, a glass of sherry, and chocolates was probably among the nicest travel experiences I've had. If you're curious about the history of the home, the rooms also feature a picture book with facts about the home and pictures of all the guest rooms. I enjoyed reading it over while having a glass of tea from the Keurig in the upstairs hallway. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip through Pennsylvania... and next time I might stay longer!

The wait staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming. While the brunch menu left a bit to be desired, I kept it simple with two eggs and toast. The food itself wasn't the highlight of the experience--instead, it's the setting and ambiance that truly make the Stegmaier special. Every detail has been thoughtfully curated, from the vintage salt holders and silverware to the historic décor. One of the standout touches was the tableside Bloody Mary service, presented on a tray with droppers of truffle oil and hot sauce so you could customize it to your liking. The staff also encouraged us to explore the upper floors, which added to the experience. The grand piano in the entrance, the stunning chandelier lining the staircase, and the beautiful stained-glass windows made the building feel both elegant and full of history. I think dinner is probably where the Stegmaier truly shines. Because of the timing of our visit and the holiday weekend, brunch was our only option, but I imagine the evening atmosphere offers an entirely different experience. Well, where was the crab meat? The pear salad as I've had at other times the pears were so hard. You could hardly cut them with a knife.
