I'd like to think of myself as quite an outgoing and friendly kind of girl, but when it comes to the hairdressers I really hate making idle chit chat. It's so banal and dull that I sometimes make things up to keep the conversation alive. "I'm moving to New York next week.... I'm in training for the marathon at the moment... I'm getting married next month". This is why I cannot go back to the same hairdressers more than once. So when I needed my locks tamed last week Serenity on Clifton Triangle was next on my hit list. I didn't need to pre-book as they'd had a cancellation which was ideal. The girls were sweet and friendly and bought me endless cups of tea. The stylist really understood what I was after, even though she made one too many references to 'whoever did your hair last time,' before rolling her eyes. At £40 for a cut and style I was very happy to pay as I was chuffed to bits with my new do. Very relaxing atmosphere, plenty of magazines to avoid the awkward banter - lovely. read more

Right on the triangle this salon offers a lot more than meets the eye. When you walk in you are struck by how confined and noisy it is - being next to a main road. However, I was greeted warmly by the receptionist who led me upstairs. It is such a contrast from the pokey minimalist front room with whitewashed walls. I walked into what felt like a Parisian boudoir, lots of ambiance, chandeliers and luxury. You knew you were in for a treat. I had a head and shoulder massage while my girlfriend had a facial. My girlfriend said that the facial left her refreshed and revitalised. My massage was amazing, I left feeling relaxed and energised and my masseuse put me at my ease but did not try and talk or make inane chit chat, I could just lie there and unwind. Do not judge this salon by it's appearance, go there and enjoy. read more

I hate to write a bad review since I own a small business myself but in his case I have to. I wanted to treat my daughter for her Birthday. We had "manicure" all the young woman did was file our nails and put polish on. The polish choices were very limited and both my daughters and mine started chipping the next day. We also had waxing and I now have a rash on my chin from the wax and I get waxed every 2 weeks for the past 10 years so it has to be their wax The young woman was very nice but it was very disappointing and it cost £60 read more

Avoid disaster... My appointment at Serenity was less than satisfactory on many fronts. I had to change the date (2 weeks in advance); the person making the change didn't move all of my requested treatments, so I couldn't have the facial I was looking forward to. The interior will take you back to you poverty stricken student flat days, not in a good way. And finally the actual treatment was poor. My eyebrow wax involved the removal of skin, which left me scarred. read more

Awful customer service. My girlfriend went for a massage I bought her as a present but the shop was closed on day she scheduled to come. I was given a lot of excuses for why she was not told her appointment was cancelled including "we wrote your number down wrong" (how/why? and your fault.) and "we emailed you in the morning before the appointment which was ample warning" (an email she didn't receive in her inbox or junk folder, when challenged on this I asked them to forward the email they'd sent as proof they had which they said they would... Never did.) Due to this short fall of customer service I asked for some form of compensation as my girlfriend had wasted her day off, perhaps a free upgrade on a treatement... "No". Well could you at least pay her back for the money she spent on parking outside the salon on the day to which the manager replied "No, we're a small business and can't afford to". I asked her to think about it and call me back, which she didn't. When my girlfriend phoned up and asked to speak to her she could hear the manager in the background saying "I don't want to speak to her, tell her I'm not here" Easily the worst customer service I've ever had... I've been there a few times now, and although most of the treatments I've had have been successful, I was greeted by a friendly face and friendly chat, one experience will mean that I never return there. I had booked in for a bikini and leg wax, my normal treatment. I've never had a problem before but the girl that carried out the treatment was inexperienced. She'd hadn't done many bikini waxes before, which she readily admitted to, so didn't seem to know what she was doing. It took double the normal amount of time I've had there previously or anywhere else and due to her not knowing what she was doing, she had to repeatedly wax the same area. I've never had that happen before, so was stunned when later on I noticed that the area was badly bruised, the bruising lasted for 2 weeks. I was left embarrassed and upset as I am a regular swimmer and had planned to have a lovely weekend with my boyfriend. So, be careful who you book the treatment with. This happened earlier in the year so hopefully that girl has been fired/trained now but make sure you book with an experienced person. read more
