I was very excited to try Serenity Spa. Based on the website and the reviews I was geared up for a great experience. Well unfortunately that is not what I encountered. From the moment I walked in red flags started flying, the atmosphere was cool and unwelcoming I felt like I was at a doctors office. No aromatherapy misting, no calming music, I thought about walking out but I was beyond the cancellation period for a refund. The massage started fine but it did t take long to realize my therapist was not very experienced, his flow was all over the place and his techniques were very novice. All of this made it difficult for me to relax and I seriously regretted booking for 90 minutes. Honestly I couldn't wait to get off that table. The icing on the cake was my therapist not the front desk receptionist took my credit card to process as she sat there and watched. I felt uncomfortable and obliged to tip for sub par service. Upon review of my receipt I noticed that April was the name listed for processing the transaction when it was in fact James. I would have put most of this on the survey generated by Serenity Spa however the survey was no longer available to complete less than 8 hours after my service. Kinda makes you wonder if that was also intentional. I would not go back nor would I recommend this place. I feel only a full refund including tip would make this right as this Serenity is not what I need. read more

Even though the wellness industry strives to find their niche, they all must meet the following criteria: 1.) Make you feel as though you've been transported into a calm, serene atmosphere. 2.) Cleanliness and a pleasing flow in the space. 3.) Pleasing aroma, setting the stage for your treatment. 4.) Passionate staff members I would have to say I encountered all of this from the time I stepped into the spa, experienced my massage and said goodbye. I'll add a few suggestions at the end of my review but overall, very pleased! Massage: A few words come to mind after receiving a massage from Hannah: compassion, connection and balance (and you thought I was choosing another word that started with "c"). Many people believe that in order to get a "good" massage it should be somewhat painful...because that's how you know it's working. Wrong!! Other times people want to get "Swedish massages" because it's a buzzy spa word they heard and they want to sound cool. If I could give a recommendation, let the massage therapist do their work. If they are worth their salt, they can read your body like a book. They know your neck is in the shape of a pretzel...let them work it out. No micromanaging necessary but feel free to ask for adjustments in pressure. I appreciate that I gave Hannah free reign because she is worth her salt. She's very good at reading the body and gently working on trouble areas. I don't often get massages and I know that poses a challenge for the massage therapist to find the balance in the bodywork. If they do too much too fast, I'll be sore and hurting...taking away from the relaxation qualities that lure us into the spa in the first place. If she doesn't apply some pressure and work out the tension, I'll feel like I didn't get a full experience. All that to say, great balance-thank you! I always feel the need to talk during massages, even though I tell myself I don't need to do that. Well, I started to chat a little and just felt the need to shush myself. Hannah creates a gentle, relaxing energy and I didn't want to get in my own way. It wasn't awkward, it was nice and luxuriously peaceful. Thanks! Overall, a great experience and I'm thankful they are still taking clients during social distancing. I can't think of the last time I was in a room with another person and it was quiet, there was a sense of connection and I felt truly peaceful. A few recommendations based on my experience in the spa industry as a former manager: 1.) The room I was in was nice, could've used a little more something...decor a plant? I'm not sure but the stone warmer was rather large and stuck out like a sore thumb. I get it, Mother's Day special...have those stones warmed up and ready to go! Make it a little more inconspicuous. 2.) I know we are in uncertain times...don't let that throw you off your game! Give me that recommendation on when to return and share your feedback on what you noticed during the massage. 3.) Hannah did a fabulous job staying physically connected aside from getting more lotion/oil. I think her service would be enhanced by having the lotion already squeezed out of the bottle. One massage therapist I worked with had a little trick where she would put the lotion in this little container that went around her wrist. That way the point of connection is never broken. 4.) Last but not least, I enjoyed the aromas that Hannah picked for me but I would've loved to have a choice too. All good things, all just small suggestions to raise the game...which is already great quality! read more

Today was my first visit to this business. I was greeted by a very friendly person as soon as I walked in. They gave me a sheet to fill out in regards to medicine and ailments. Nothing extensive, just the basics so my masseuse would know what to do. Than, I met Naomi, my masseuse. She was wonderful-not only knowledgeable about my ailments, but took time to find out my level of comfort for pressure. She took the time to start on my sinuses and gave me a short scalp massage before moving on and finishing the rest of my body. With traveling and my ailments, we decided to try 90 minutes next time to allow her more time on my back. PS-Naomi is really good with trained service animals as well. She was absolutely wonderful and kind about Hank!!!! read more

I come here for my massages. Love the vibe and the incorporated omt-style muscle releases. Only thing, I work all day talking to people. Would prefer silence to be able to fully relax. They're great people and I would love talking to them any other day but during a massage silence is key to relaxation. I have always enjoyed my massages at Serenity. The location I visited the most has closed but I recently visited the Augusta location and it was an amazing experience. My therapist was totally awesome and made me feel special as if it was all about ME! That's what it's supposed to feel like right!? Making the appointment was a professional experience and I loved the fact that the receptionist remembered to call me back the next day after I forgot to call her. I was given a gift certificate for a massage somewhere else but because I knew the services were great I decided to pay for what I wanted here and was not disappointed. Took a chance after recently moving here and chose this place based off reviews. My lower back was in agonizing pain for a couple days and I needed to be seen ASAP! They got me in that afternoon and I was actually pretty shocked. The inside is inviting, clean and well designed. Room and bed was warm and comfortable. Service was great, I had one hour to address some full body misalignment issues and walked out feeling taller and rejuvenated. Will for sure be scheduling regular follow ups. If you are in need of a massage and at all skeptical, stop searching and give these guys a try, I really don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

My husband and I are always searching for a place to get a couples massage, and in the past, always have a hard time with time schedules and therapists on duty. We called Serenity at 10:25am to see what the earliest availability may be, and they said we could be seen at noon. Perfect timing to fit our tight schedules. When we arrived, we were greeted with a smile, and asked to fill out a short client intake form. Shortly after that, we were taken back by our therapists. Sonnie was my therapist, and she was amazing. Her massage sequence was well paced and thorough. I was especially tight in my lower back, and she knew alternative muscles to relax in order to directly affect my focus areas. Marie worked on my husband, and he said she worked out a lot of those crunchie kinks that were bothering him. Overall, we will be back for more relaxation. I go here every week! Both locations are super nice, cozy and professional--very clean, too! Both the deep tissue massage and myofascial sports massages are necessary for anyone who lifts heavy often! Their staff are professional, knowledgeable and polite. If they don't answer the phone, you can expect a call back within 10 minutes. Online booking is a plus, but don't be afraid to call and ask for a sudden opening if you want a massage that day. I moved away from my friends and family so i depend on places that have gift card options for gifts. There were a great selection of gift certificates that i could print/email. I was able to add the tip in the certificate so my friend was able to enjoy her gift with no extra cost. I called to do a walk in and was rudely told I MUST make an appointment, so I did and told the lady I wasn't sure if I could make it, but I would call if I couldn't. It was 8 mins after my appointment time and I get a call from the same rude woman I spoke to the day before. I told her I found somewhere else that could fit me in yesterday so I'll be canceling my appt. She then yells at me and says I owe them $25 for cancelling. Worst experience ever. I had been there before with no issues and even sent my husband there last year for father's day. This place has really gone down hill. read more

I will start this review off by saying that I cannot speak to their actual massages. I never received one. I am 32 weeks pregnant and experiencing all the pain that comes along with being pregnant. My husband suggested getting a massage, which had not crossed my mind. I booked online and the process was very simple. However, on the day of my appointment, I got a call saying that the slot I had picked was not available (then why was it showing available online?). They asked me to come at another time which didn't work for me. To say I was looking forward to this relaxing experience would be an understatement. I'm so disappointed. Also, other than an apology and them trying to reschedule me for another day (I'd have to wait almost another week to get in for another massage), they offered no kind of discount or other remedy for their error.
