No, I wasn't perfect, but the treatment I got from the associate pastors and the pastor's wife was just deplorable. This experience turned me off from going to any church and Christianity as a whole for a very long time. Why the 4 star rating you ask? They have a Spanish ministry and a Young Life ministry that literally turned the lives of some close friend's kids around. My friends ended up getting active in the Young Life program and it transformed their family, so for that I am grateful. This also reminded me that Christians are not perfect and make mistakes. This church didn't sit well with me, but that doesn't mean it isn't perfect for you. Try it before making any decisions, but don't expect to see me there!

Pastor Tommy is a great teacher, and Pastor Mark is ok. He's a little too sugar-coated and cookie-cutter for me -- I want more out of a sermon than rainbows and unicorns, which he seems to deliver. But Pastor Tommy gives it to you straight, which being a believer my whole life, is more what I'm looking for. This really is a great church. Our family of six is happy here. :)

Not easy. Through it all they have been a very welcoming group of like-minded people. Services are always interesting and novel, to me at least. There are a lot of musicians in the congregation and sometimes a brass section will show up for example. Or woodwind or a larger choir. I've been attending their meditation group and drum circle and enjoy them both. I am not much of a joiner, but I have found a home here.

About the same time, I was invited to join the choir and I started to see the incredible love of these members. These people became my family when I had none and they have genuinely cared for and supported me, despite a job that kept me away from weekly choir rehearsals. Through the choir, Sunday school and worship services, I have been encouraged and strengthened in my relationship with Christ in a unique and powerful way. Pastor Jeff genuinely cares for his congregation and getting to know each personally. He speaks challenging and humble sermons and speaks truth weekly. The music ministry is diverse and engaging, from traditional chancel choir to children's choirs to handbells to the contemporary worship band that leads the 11:10 am contemporary service. Music director James Roberts is educated and knowledgeable in music, not just church music ministry, and the organist, Keith Ross, is absolutely spectacular and really makes that organ sing. This coming October my fiance and I will get the pleasure of being wed in this beautiful sanctuary, but more importantly, in this beautiful church. It is a sad day indeed to be moving out of the city and away from this Christ-like community.

I have seen people taking wedding pictures in front of this church too. St. Paul's has been offering it's services since 1905, so it is one of Houston's oldest churches.

Whoever the security guard is that was on duty Thursday, Oct 29th at 6:30 pm was EXTREMELY…read moreoffensive to me and my family at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. My husband and I were standing next to one of the entrances with our 2 year old baby and we saw him sitting on his phone keeping an eye on us for about 20 minutes as we took some family pictures w our own phones. For some reason he suddenly walked aggressively towards us and then instead of talking to us politely and explaining the situation, he immediately threatened to call the COPS on us, simply for a family picture, even though we had already been there for a while and he was aware. He yelled at us and called me a "trick a** ho*" right in front of my husband and child and yelled innuendos at us as we walked away. I am still in shock that this incident happened at what is supposed to be a place of faith and kindness.
