I've come to this location for at least 15 years. I've renewed driver's licenses, health cards,…read morevehicle permits, etc. The agents are always courteous. Prior to the pandemic, wait times were 1 to 1.5 hours. There was an online chart giving typical wait times throughout the week. Very useful. During pandemic times, most common services require an appointment but a few don't have appointments. When you arrive, there is a pre-screening person at the front. Because of appointments, there are far fewer people in the waiting area. You still get a ticket to wait but wait times are now 5 to 15 mins only! The waiting seats have signs to block off seats to ensure physical distancing. There are screens showing the called ticket numbers showing you which agent booth to go to. There are 43 booths. Certain booths are assigned certain functions. They accept debit and credit cards for payment. There is no free WiFi but part of the waiting area has access to the free TD Bank WiFi. Mobile internet is also available even though the office is in the basement. There are no customer washrooms but you can use the mall washrooms.

This Service Canada location is by Scarborough Town Centre. There used to be more parking next…read moredoor. However, due to much development in the area, the parking lot is smaller than I recall when I was last here ten years ago. I parked on the street. It was Green P parking. I was lucky that I paid for an additional session through the app because I was here for nearly four hours. The maximum parking session is three hours. I recommend not coming here on a Monday. It seems like everyone was here when I was. This location offers a number of services that I am probably unaware of. I can't and won't rattle them off. I do know that for Canadians, it has these services: - Apprenticeship grants - Benefits finder - Canadian dental Care plan - Job bank - Labour market information - Passport application - Social Insurance Number application I was here to get my passport reviewed. It was confusing entering the building to figure out where to go. For this business listing, all services that Service Canada does, minus passports, is on the left when you walk through the main entrance. Signage is non-existent. You want the lineup that is shorter of the two. For passport applications, you need to line up where the longer lineup twists and turns on the right. Again, signage was so poor that I asked a security person where I should go for passports. He was great pointing me in the right direction. I don't think that I'd be using any other service here but applying for a passport. In the past, you'd go up to the second floor. These days, it's seems to be triage on the main floor before you get a number and head upstairs to the second floor to complete the final part of the application process. Payment is upstairs for passports. Debit and credit cards are accepted. Certified cheques and money orders are accepted. You can't do personal cheques or cash to pay. (120)

On the 3rd business day, my cellphone did not ring but a voice message was left saying they couldn't contact me and would try again tomorrow. The same scenario repeated itself on the 4th business day but this time the message was to complete a new request if I still required service. Well, I decided to go to the Service Canada office located next to the Scarborough Town Centre on Friday. Since I didn't have an appointment, I was instructed by Security to a wait line along with a dozen people (standing) ahead of me. Sixty-five minutes later, I was sitting in front of a government agent. The service agent was prompt, courteous and friendly. My request document was completed in under 10 minutes.

With my appointment slot I got to check in upon arrival and then waited about 10 minutes to be seen. Everyone that helped me was friendly, quick, and knowledgeable. Generally, I hate going to service Ontario for anything whether it's to renew my license, deal with…read morecar stuff or anything really that requires me to go in person and not able to do online. During covid, this location is appointment only which is great. Book online. Do NOT come without an appointment, you'll waste your time waiting in line and being sent away which happened to a few people in front of us. Do NOT come super early, they'll keep pushing you back to allow for the earlier appointments - again, happened to a bunch of people. Come on time, they will move you up in the line if there are people with later appointments than you. Located in the mall, there's security at the front of the mall asking what you're coming in for, he'll then direct you to the right person. You'll head to service Ontario where there's a line outside and someone managing the line. Our appointment was for 11 but we didn't get in until 11:15am. However, once we got in, we immediately got down to business and got everything we needed done - and I had like 3 different items too. The lady was polite, efficient but no nonsense - which I appreciated! She helped us with everything we needed, everything was organized and explained well. 15 minutes later, we're done everything, I'm happy and walking out for lunch. Sure I didn't exactly get the time I booked but given how quickly I was in and out during covid, I'm not going to complain. Will definitely try to book this location in the future for any other service Ontario things - here's hoping it won't be for another 10 years though!

I came to this Service Canada for a passport renewal. I made an appointment ahead of time online,…read morealmost two months in advance. Even then, it was really hard to find the perfect time slot so definitely check often and early if you want to make an appointment. There was a lot of signage on the outside of this location. One of the signs instructed those with an appointment to skip any line and go directly to the welcome desk. I read this twice before heading in. There was a line of about 8 parties of folks waiting to be seen on one side of the stanchions. It was mortifying to be the one person on the other side walking right past the line. I actually walked back outside to check the sign again before doing so. I'm really glad I followed the instructions though because once the Service Canada member was done assisting the current guest, they immediately asked me if I had an appointment to ease my insecurities. At check-in, I confirmed the details of my appointment. I was then sent to the waiting area where I was told I'd hear my name called. There isn't a speaker or number system there so you really have to listen since the reps are behind plexiglass. I only waited 10 minutes past my allotted appointment time to be seen. The rep that helped me was friendly and polite. Pretty day and night from some horror stories I had at DMVs in the US!

Agent started asking questions-put me on hold-got back-vertify address-told me a address that I was at over 12 years ago-moved twice---I received slips and made out income tax at this address -for over 7 years---?????-he updated the address and said I will receive slip in the next 5 to 10 days---I pay income tax every year------This Agent was better than the other 2---I will be waiting for the slip I do not understand receiving all my slips-paying income tax at this address-and they have address from over 12 years---I am asking for a slip to do taxes and send them money-Also said I would get the slip through my account-NO never made that change--------They need better agents-also that you can understand you David/Joanne Mantini

It's conveniently located in this little mall, which is right off Highway 7 and Martin Grove, so it has plenty of parking, which is sometimes difficult with government offices. You can make an appointment ahead of time for most services, which I've done. When you go into the mall, it's close to the Tim Hortons (across from the Home Hardware.) It looks like your typical, drab office, complete with handwritten and paper printout signage everywhere. When you come in and you have an appointment, you approach the desk where it says to check in for appointments. Otherwise, you have your usual, snaking line towards the counters for non-appointment visits. Both times, I've had very friendly, competent staff serve me. I like that they are diligent, and check what time your appointment is before serving you. They don't take any nonsense because they are running on a very tight schedule, but they are professional and not rude about it. Both times recently, they've been very efficient, even though one appointment was for a not very routine service. They have a supervisor on hand as well who helps keep things running smoothly and assists with reassigning wherever needed to keep everything going. So why not 5 stars? The venue really is tight and drab, and even with the generally very good service, it doesn't help when people lie about their appointment times. I also find the online appointment signup very un-user friendly, and I find you have to book like a week ahead. Still, a very good Service Ontario office overall. I'm not too mad that it's replacing the ones I've gone to previously.
