They started out as a "hole-in-the-wall" frame shop over on Grand Avenue. Then they moved to their two-story space over on Monroe Avenue a few blocks north of the old Grand Rapids Press. Now they have two sites. I love that they have continued to grow. Their success is well deserved. They support artists in a big way. They help you with your presentation, ie., framing, installation, giclee printing, etc., and they have the perfect gallery space to showcase great work. Their quality of work is always top notch. When you leave your work in their hands, you know it will be handled with great care and an immense attention to detail. I've never felt fully confident with picking out frames on my own for my work, but the staff at LaFontsee Galleries has never let me down. Our combined work is still on my walls from over the years all the way to the 1990s when I moved to Grand Rapids and they opened their first frame shop. This summer, I needed to have several canvases stretched on bars for my ArtPrize entry. Linda LaFontsee and her staff performed an excellent job and helped to make my artwork a success. Since then, I've purchased cases of packaging tape, mountains of packing peanuts, and some special order double-corrugated boxes. I'm a previous customer of U-Line and Victory Packaging, and being new to the Grand Rapids area, I was looking for someone local and that could handle smaller orders. Seal-Tec is great because they're a smaller business that will cater to smaller businesses like myself, but have the capacity to also cater to very large businesses, too. They've got a lot of different boxes and packing/sealing materials in stock, but can also special order anything without a problem. They're very competitive on the pricing. The best part is just dealing with very honest and pleasant people. Working with some of the larger packaging supply dealers/vendors became tiresome with their will-call fees and price hikes. Seal-Tec doesn't charge any fees to pick up your orders. They're just good people to deal with. I highly recommend them for your boxes and packing material needs. They've got you covered.

I saw tons of fun gifts and products, including clothes, jewelry, accessories, home goods, coffee, Polish pottery, books, tea, cards, art, etc. I love that it gives the opportunity for these small businesses to have a space to sell things even if they don't have their own storefront. I'm not sure how often the vendors rotate, but it's always fun to stop in and check things out. I especially love the Public Thread bags and accessories, the Polish pottery, and all the interesting art. There are signs everywhere letting you know that if you break something, you buy it, so be careful. I have purchased gifts here for myself and others and hope it sticks around for a long time!
