Their prices are massively excessive. I contracted them to replace two ceiling fans. I asked the scheduling representative for even a remote cost and was told the service tech gives the estimate when he evaluates the job at the site for service. I was quoted 850 approximately when he arrived. I told him to complete the task. The service tech thought it would take 2.5 to 3 hours. It took 75 minutes to complete the two ceil fans replacement. The service tech did good work and was polite. Upon completion the tech gave me a 10% discount. The final outcome was approximately $750 for 75-90 minutes of work read more

They are way over priced, and push you to pay for additional services. I used Service Today for my vacation house Airbnb property on the Eastern Shore, and unfortunately my experience has been disappointing. The first time I called them, it was for a hot water heater replacement. They quoted me around $5,000 for the job. Thankfully, I decided to shop around, and another local plumber was able to do the exact same replacement for $1,850--a massive difference in price. That should have been my first red flag. About a week later, I had Service Today come back out to replace some air vents. During that visit, the technician told me they found an issue with one of my HVAC systems and insisted it needed a special cleaning device installed right away. The cost? $2,200. Since it was the weekend and I couldn't get another company out there quickly, I reluctantly agreed, but the whole situation felt pressured and urgent in a way that didn't sit right with me. In both cases, I felt like they were deceptive and significantly overcharging for their services. They present issues in a way that makes it seem like you have no choice but to pay a premium immediately. If you use them, know that you'll likely be paying far more than necessary. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes before agreeing to any of their recommendations. read more

Called this plumber on a weekend for a leaking pipe--was charged $1,000 for a simple fix. Then they quoted $10,000 to replace all the pipes. Decided to get a second opinion and was quoted $3,000 for the same job. Price gouging at its finest. Do your homework and always get a second opinion--especially when the numbers feel off. I wouldn't recommend this plumber unless you're comfortable wildly overpaying. read more

Called them on Monday to come out on our service contract and clear the washing machine drain. Sent out a tech who did not have the right tools to do so even though I explained exactly what needed to be done. Said he'd be back between 8 and 9 Tuesday with the right tools. 9 comes no calls, no one comes. Called the main number was told another tech would be out today. Meantime I'm moving my business appointments al client's homes around to accommodate, much to my client's dismay. Moved them all to Wednesday and Thursday. Now at 4 they call and tell me they want to move our service to Wednesday. I cant keep moving my client's in home visits on a daily basis without losing my business and damaging my reputation. We had been using Service Today for all plumbing, electric and HVAC service. The last few times the costs were extremely high. This last was to repair a dripping faucet. The cost was $300!! We were not given an itemized cost but told they do not do that now. Techs were there all of 20 minutes - one service guy and another who was being trained (he just stood around and watched. We had always been shown the cost of parts to be used in the repair. I found the parts for the repair on line cost $20 or less! Calls to the company only resulted in defensive comments. They called my ex-husband to "try to reach me" even though I had provided only my phone number. Bottom line: They wasted my time. Our air conditioning in a guest bedroom has been broken for a month. Service today quoted us a part we needed, we waited two weeks for the part to arrive, and when the technician came out he said it was the totally wrong part. And that there was nothing he could do, "he's just the technician." I asked for a manager to call me three days ago as every agent I talk to says there is nothing they can do. I've called daily and no manager has called me back and the air conditioning remains broken. I've never seen worse customer service that you can't get someone to call you. These people are becoming borderline criminals. I have 5 condos I rent and they serviced two units across the street from each other on consecutive days and claimed they needed $13,000 in repairs. In a De unit, they claimed I needed a new heat pump. Second opinion; the unit is in perfect working condition. Got a second opinion on the MD units and the repairs came to $261. I should report them to the MD Attorney General and will. If you like to be robbed, use these guys. read more

My home heater stopped working. I paid the $49.00 trip/ travel fee, although I learned from the service technician that that he was on another service call just 10 minutes away from my house before he arrived to service my heater. Two minutes after his arrival he assessed my heater issue as a bad motor that needed to be replaced. The technician said that it would cost approximately $1,300.00 to replace the motor, and that since my heater was nearly 10 years old, it might make more sense to replace the heater. He said replacing the heater would likely cost between $5,000 and 7,000. He indicated that prices would likely be going up due to changes in the economy. Long story short, after being without heat for nearly 3 weeks, a friend referred me to someone they knew who replaced the motor for $250.00, the cost of the motor. In the end I was charged $205.00 for a 15 minute service call where the diagnosis of the problem was the only thing that I received. GREED and price-gouging are not pretty, and I resent service technicians appearing so competent, professional and pleasant, while raping customers on the cost to resolve their problem. Updating last year's 5 star to 1 based on TERRIBLE customer service when I called for an updated time and some questions after finding out there would be a delay. Understood the delay, but with having plans outside of the window they gave me, I needed to figure out if they'd be able to get there before I left. Well - that was where it all went downhill. I'm not going to spend my time being over-talked, reprimanded for making plans outside of the window I was given for service to come, and unapologetically offered another appointment in 2 months. I've requested to speak to a manager and was told it would take 24-48 hours, but based on other reviews I saw on Yelp - I'll be surprised if that comes through. I just signed a contract in April - and I'll be looking to cancel that and get a refund. Wouldn't have come to that if Tina had any idea how to speak to customers. AAAAGGGHHHH! This is the third time that immediately following routine service under the HVAC maintenance plan that the heat pumps fail and require hundreds of dollars of repair. After spending $2600 to have air scrubbers installed one unit provided no heat (after tech did maintenance) and one unit in the crawl space spewed toxic burning smell into the house. The tech on call said it was loose wires that contacted each other and burned out. Coincidence that this happened the same day as service after being fine for more than 15 years. If I didn't know better I would think theyt were sabotaging the units to cause you to pay for repairs!! Never use these guys again. read more

We have had the same problem with our AC for a year. Last year (spring 22) we bought a service agreement and every time we called them with a frozen AC unit they'd replace another part, charge us and it eventually it freezes again. Until we replaced the AC unit (spring 23) at a hefty price and it is still freezing up now (July). They are wretched, they show up but fix nothing and charge, charge and charge some more. The only reason they have two stars is the computer won't let me give them one. read more

I paid for an annual service agreement which was about 70% more than last year. Ok, businesses have had tremendous pricing pressures on labor, equipment and materials so fine. I was told to expect a call between 8 and 9 a.m. today. While on a business call, I got a call from them at 10:16 a.m. and then another at 10:19 a.m. saying that they would have to reschedule. I called back at 10:22 and the person answering tried to keep our appointment but the dispatcher declined so I requested to cancel our contract and get a refund. Who thinks that kind of service represents "Service Today"? It's a shame that the management treats their customers like that since the technicians that serviced us last year were very good. read more

After installation, they were paid by check. 3 months later, they cashed the same check again and told me to wait until the end of the week to get over $10,000 refunded. Worst. Experience. Ever. I have a backed up main drain and essentially paid these guys $89 to drop by, hear the problem, and without looking at anything, tell us that the only treatment they could perform was over $600 and probably wouldn't work anyway. Really not sure why this couldn't have been communicated over the phone when I called them four days ago. Oh, but it gets worse. They then offered to take a look to see if they find anything because they were already there and were charging us the $89 diagnostic fee anyway, so they ran two bathubs and a toilet, resulting in (exactly as we told them would happen) a toilet overflowing a half-inch of water from the drain (complete with hair, gunk, and who knows what fungus) all over my bathroom floor, through the kitchen, and just onto the dining room carpet. They then plunged the toilet repeatedly to no avail, sinply splashing more gunk water all over my floor. They then proceeded to track their gunky wet shoes all across my carpet back out to the truck (even though there was a closer exit on only linoleum through the back) so that they could write up the bill for my house's new hydrotherapy. These guys are essentially useless. I could've plunged my own toilet and drowned my own floor for free. Never going to them again. Ever. read more

Travis White did a great job but when I made the appointment for an electrician, they only told me about paying $49 and then the electrician would quote us when he came. My problem is that they didn't tell us that if he removed anything before even fixing the issue we would have to pay $199. He told us once he found the problem. In order for him to fix the breaker it would cost us $353 for everything. I spoke with the company twice before scheduling and not once did they mention "if the electrician removes anything you will be charged xyz" we had a deductible with our insurance for the home which we were trying to avoid but once he told us the issue and price to fix we figured the insurance was the better option. Well we've ended up paying more than half of what we could've paid. We won't use them again because it seems like they got over on us KNOWINGLY with that 199 that had we known about it, we wouldn't have called them at all. read more

So their semi-annual service is OK. However, we recently had a squeak in the cycle of one of the gas furnaces in our home. The technician came out and spent some time, charging us over $180. It's been making a similar sound in the same part of the cycle. When we called, we were told it would be another service call charge and additional charges if it wasn't related to their work. A couple of sheet metal screws were installed by my husband and it's now running quietly. Seriously - over $180 and it wasn't even taken care of??? Meh. read more

They have unqualified technicians they send out to the field and base their repair approaches on their unskilled assessment of the issues. Their rates are very high which wouldn't be as big an issue if they sent out qualified personnel. There are several qualified businesses available in the area. We called a couple of weeks ago to schedule the installation of a Casablanca fan. When the electrician finally appeared today he told us that the office had only scheduled one hour; had not scheduled enough time to install the fan, which would take two hours, so he would need to return another time. Then he told us the installation would cost $714. for two hours of work. We were shocked and called the office, who told us that the electrician set the price. We asked the electrician about the price and were told that the price was set from a grid that he was given by "corporate". Each side tried to pin the blame for the price on the other party. Needless to say, the whole thing made us wonder about their honesty. We asked the electrician to leave; we were not about to pay that kind of money for only the labor, since we had already purchased the fan and all the required accessories. The final nail on the coffin was that the $714 was the "preferred" rate because we had used this company in the past. Another mortal would have been charged $840. Our message is to find another electrician. read more
