I was waiting to do an update to say all is well on this but sadly it is not. They came out and replaced all the units but the first time I ran them for any length of time (today 3/1/2023) one of the units they replaced started leaking again. I wasn't in the building so I got gallons of water on my upstairs floor. I reached out to Charles (the owner) and sent some videos ... At some point I'm going to have to go with someone else who can actually fix the problem but hopefully they can get out here and do something. read more

5 stars. My A/C was blowing but it wasn't cold. The thermostat was reading 79 and never shutting off. Due to my work schedule I thought the next best time would be Thursday morning and made an appointment online. Within 30 minutes a service coordinator called and said they had same day availability. Within 20 minutes I received a call from David St. Germaine who said he was 5 minutes away and he showed up 5 minutes later. David immediately got to work and diagnosed the issue as a the drain pipe. He showed me what to look for and how to maintain the health of my a/c. He then checked the outside unit and told me what to do to keep that up and then checked the freon. I took down all the notes that I could about next steps and what to do in the future. He was informative and professional. My a/c is set to 75 and it feels colder than ever. And the price was reasonable and fair. He also put together an estimate for a new unit as mine is older and shows a lot of wear and tear due to poor upkeep from previous tenants/owners. Our 14-year-old a/c was having an issue, so we had a large HVAC company out to take a look. The suspected culprit was a leak, but they did not look for the leak on this visit. They added some coolant to the system and gave us an estimate to fix the leak and some quotes to replace the unit entirely. The cost estimate for the repair was enough to make us strongly consider getting a new a/c unit, and it was definitely high enough to make us schedule a second and third opinion. There was a misunderstanding with the second company that came out. They sent a technician rather than someone who could actually give us a bid on a repair or a new unit. From our brief chat, I determined that this company was probably more interested in selling us a new a/c as well. Enter the Service Wizard! I called Service Wizard and they were able to send over a technician right away to give a second opinion. Emilio was wonderful. He pinpointed the location of the leaky coil. He said that the leak was tiny and that the unit was performing well. He set up a game plan to monitor the unit until Spring. After that, he thinks that all we will probably have to do is replace some parts, and provided an estimate that was much lower than the first one. They did not charge us a single penny for the visit. I am grateful for the advice we received from Emilio, and we will definitely have the Wizard back in the Spring to re-evaluate the system. I'm so happy to have found a company with integrity that doesn't act like an a/c unit is made to be disposed of every 10-12 years. I have used Service Wizard twice now.. The 1st time, for a service call to fix my A/C in 2019, after 3 other companies could not. Their technician found the problem within 5-10 minutes and showed me what the deal was and why the others missed it. One of the other companies (with good reviews) from Cedar Park, dragged out the issue for 2-3 months, and cost me 1-2k in incorrect diagnosis, replacing my evap coil & other small parts that were not needed (they were guessing), and leaking out my freon 3 times. I just used Service Wizard for a 2nd time, this week in April 2022. They replaced all of my old ducting, supply plenum, buckets, and vents (everything in the attic), in 1 day. I can't say enough about the guys who did the work... William, Jeff, & James were very professional and did a fine job. They were quick and worked hard. They seemed to pay attention to detail and doing things correctly. They worked with me on where exactly they could put my 2 additional vents, and even sealed up an extra spot with mastic, that I was concerned about, even though they said they usually don't need to. Erik originally came out for the initial site survey, estimate, design. He seemed very knowledgeable and was personable. He listened to what I wanted & advised me on what was and wasn't needed. He looked over the whole system and then redesigned/estimated the new plenum and ducting sizing while onsite. Also, one of the other companies that gave us a quote, told me that they wouldn't replace the register boxes in the attic (they were nasty) because they are probably stuck to the sheetrock with mastic and could possibly require sheetrock repairs afterwards. This is very valid point, but... Erik crawled back up in the attic and simply looked to verify that they were not adhered to the sheetrock and said they would replace them with no problems. What a concept right... actually care enough about the customer/situation to at least try and put forth a little effort before just saying no. That small effort was part of what got them the job. The tech that came out, Dave, I believe, was honest, and I believe did everything he could to get my AC up to par. Unfortunately my issue was not resolved, during the hottest parts of the day my AC will not get to the set temperature of 76, it will go up to 78 -79 and in some of my rooms will actually go to 80. My AC will not not get to 76 until about 8:40 or 9:00 PM, when the temp outside drops. So although Dave was honest, professional, and did all the steps he thought would resolve the issue, it was not...I am in the same place only with less money in my pocket. I saw a lot of good reviews on yelp and I wish I could be one of them! I gave them a five because I really believe Dave did his best, but as many have heard some time your best is not good enough! Javier and Antonio just left awhile ago after installing our third coil into our AC system. They were magnificent. Professional, respectful, and just down right good at what they do. A little back story before I get into the meat of this review. My wife and I built a brand new home in 2013. Along with the home came what we thought was a very reputable main stream HVAC system. Three years after we moved in the coil needed to be replaced. This was done under a class action lawsuit. We paid for labor and the new coil was covered under warranty. Fast forward to now and that replaced coil went out. I called the original installers and they came out to inspect. Sure enough, there was a "small" leak in the coil. The tech said you're probably covered under the ten year warranty. When I checked with the office that was not the case. You see, in order to take advantage of the 10 year warranty (you get five years out of the box) you need to register the unit with the company. At no time (our builder or the HVAC company) did they mention that that is something we needed to do as the consumer. I was floored. Bad product. Bad service, and worst of all a "sucks to be you" attitude from the original HVAC company. Because of all of this, I vowed not to spend another dime with them. Enter Service Wizard. There is a reason they are rated #1 in Yelp. I called their office and the next day we had David, a tech out to inspect. Mind you, this was a no-charge second opinion. He did confirm that there is a leak, but a rather sizable one. He went so far as to ask me a lot of questions about the original install and the re-do of a few years ago. He checked with the manufacturer and found out that yes, we were out of the five year warranty. He then asked, "didn't anyone tell you to register your unit for the additional length of time?" Nope. He proceeded to give me a written quote clearly stating that, in order to achieve a ten year warranty, you do need to register the unit with the manufacturer. The other company told me that they wouldn't be able to replace the coil for two to four weeks. Supply chain, don't cha know! David checked with his office and told me on Friday that his crew could be there the following Monday at 9 am. I said book it. Come Monday morning I received a confirmation text/email that the guys were on their way. They got right down to work. Even wore protective booties on their shoes. Three hours later we were back in business. Javier told me that because the temperature was below 70 degrees they would need to come back when it warms up to make sure we had the proper amount of coolant in the system. No charge, part of this service. He explained that the ambient temperature had everything to do with getting a proper load. Something else Javier did on his own. He installed a fail safe switch that in the event this happens again the system will automatically shut down, and not keep blowing hot air. I know this is a lot to read. But lets face it, we have two seasons here in Austin: Hot & Cold. And if your HVAC isn't working it can be pretty miserable. In today's world it's getting tougher and tougher to find companies that provide top shelf service and that actually care about their customers. These guys are all that and then some. Service Wizards are the best! They're a family run business that installed an AC in the summer and fixed our heater during this seasons chill. The heater wasn't cut and dry. The tech tried one thing and no luck. Came out again that week and tried something else, and that didn't work. He said I have one more idea and came out and it worked. Mind you he could have just replaced the costly motor and be done with it. They're prompt, do what they say at a reasonable cost. After another company came and told me that I had to replace my entire unit (an almost $5k cost), Service Wizard was able to send out someone the next day to give me a 2nd opinion and take a look at my unit. Emilio immediately figured out how to fix the unit to get the compressor working again, and also found a leak that was leading to the low refrigerant. He literally found all of this in about 20 minutes of being there. The other company was there inspecting my unit for over an hour, even the service manager came out...and they still couldn't figure it out (and their conclusion was just to replace the entire unit). This will be the third time that we have used Service Wizard and I continue to be impressed with the prompt communication and quality of the technicians. Our Air Conditioning unit when out on day 8 of the 100 degree streak in early June. Of course it was a Sunday. I got on line to schedule a service and was very surprised to find an open slot in their calendar for Monday afternoon. Monday morning I received a call from Service Wizard. Expecting the worse on the scheduling and a likely push out I was absolutely floored when the question was asked if I would be OK if the technician came in the morning rather than in the afternoon. OK - so I'm thinking that this is a joke - a service technician calling to see if she/he can come earlier to fix an Air Conditioning unit when it is 100 degrees out. Of course I said yes. Long story short. The technician, Richard Hamshire arrived soon after the call took a 5 minute look at the unit, identified the issue, and had us up and running in less than 30 minutes. Because we had used them for a system maintenance this year the charge only included the cost of the repair with the service charge being waived. A win for sure. While the technician showed up on time, not much else to say. To start, the tech immediately wanted to add refrigerant before evaluating the capacitor, air coil or any other components which had problems. Then he explained the weather was not hot enough for him to diagnose the AC issues. So if you knew the weather would be a problem based on any weather report, why wouldn't you at least suggest postponing the appointment to a hotter day before you showed up? Thank you. ------ I had you guys come in to refill refrigerant into my ductless system (we knew there was a leak and it had been one year since our last refill). Technician said there was about a pound left and refilled one more pound (didn't check with a thermometer after refilling to ensure cooling). To our luck, cool weather struck Austin and we didn't need the AC until this week. Wasn't cooling. Called back and had you guys come in and recheck after just 3 weeks of a refill. Refrigerant down a half to 1 pound bringing us back to where we were originally. How? "Leak must have gotten big. I will need to charge you again for refilling." Okay so if that was the case, why wouldn't you diagnose that the first go around 3 weeks ago? When I reminded him, he hadn't checked with a thermometer/gauge the last time, he questioned my observation. Didn't check the second time either. We have multiple rental properties. If something goes wrong with our personal HVAC system, we can usually "wait it out" a few days for resolution, but tenants won't stand for that. We've learned over the years that we can count on Service Wizard to get someone out pronto (frequently same day, worst case, the following day) and resolve the issue. There's no such thing as cheap HVAC service, but we've always found these guys prices to be well below "outrageous". One exception, their pricing for R-22 refrigerant is $155/lb, when the current "retail" price is under $25/lb. Of course, the average homeowner doesn't have access to direct R-22 purchase, so is left at their mercy. I understand the concept of markup on materials and supplies when service people provide, but a 600% markup is a bit excessive. Sadly, there seems to be some tacit collusion amongst most all the HVAC service companies to stick it to the consumers on refrigerant pricing "because they can", but it doesn't remove the bad taste in my mouth for the practice read more

Absolutely 5 Stars. Our AC went out and they got it working the same day at minimal cost. It stopped working again, and it turned out to be a simple fix that I could have done on my own (reset the heater/blower) however I didn't even know that was a thing so the tech showed me (in case power goes out again). No charge for the second visit. He treated it as a "follow up" to the first one. Took all of like 10 min! I've used two of the biggest and best known companies in Austin to install and maintain the system and all new ducts (one company did the system install and they were just OK, so we used a diff company for the ducts and it was a disappointment). Service Wizard has only done this one fix so I can't compare them on these services, however I WILL be calling them when I need a new system installed (hopefully not too soon!). read more

Professional, fair pricing, made good on their labor warranty (we had issues shortly after installation and they sent a tech for free who verified that the issue was with the homes wiring, not the the AC install). They replaced our AC during a major renovation in which I lost track of who had to be paid still. Everything has been working wonderfully but wanted to get the system checked out during this heat as we felt one unit may be struggling. We scheduled a service call with Shane.
