The worst customer service ever, they are quick to take your money but when your appliance can't be fixed they give you peanuts for it and at the moment I haven't received my check the owe me since November 2019. I have three claims with this company. First 2 claims were December 2021. They denied the repair on both but offer me $200 check for one of the claim and $350 for the other so that I can buy a new appliance. We are in June 2022 and I still have not received any check. Do not waste your time or money with this unprofessional company. I had a claim for my dryer and wrote what the issues were, and they only addressed one issue and then I showed technician what I wrote on claim, and he looked at the dryer again and said I had a cracked drum. I called service plus while I was with the technician, and he explained to them what was wrong with dryer, and they stated that he needs to place a work order. He left and did as they asked. I paid 75.00 for heater element replaced but the loud noise was not fixed. I got a call a few days later by supervisor stating they will not fix drum as dryer is too old (5 yrs. old Samsung that last 10 yrs.) and cost too much. offered me 250.00. I accepted and as of 5/5 2 months later still no payment and they keep saying 8 weeks. They call me at least every week and text to renewal my policy and will subtract the 250.00 from total new policy cost. I will continue with a company that doesn't have better customer service in a timelier manner. They want their 75.00 up front before they will even come out. read more

This Service Plus Home warranty is a scam. I was supposed to get repair or replace my built-in microwave, but they said they were not able to repair. They said we could replace it ourselves and they will reimburse $200.00. I already paid $45 for their tech to come a diagnose it. That was over a year ago. I called them every month. They would talk to me and tell me that it was in que to process the payment but now for over 10 months. They have no idea when they would be able to send the check. I don't have much hope. I guess they may not ever do it. I had warranty taken for 2 properties at the same time and the other one also had similar issues but after many months of wasting time talking to them, I got little money back. I don't have any hope. I don't even want to give 1 star. They don't deserve it. I would give below 0 stars. I suffered. I got depression from them. I started with them with 2 policies for 2 different properties. Cost me over $3500 with the platinum package and they are supposed to cover everything. They used to be called Total Home Protection Warranty, somehow they became Service Plus Home Warranty. I felt there was a game going on but I didn't want to keep that negative idea in my head because I need service from them and I paid my money ahead of time. The first time I called them for a property and I had a problem with the ice maker. Of course, they wouldn't answer any calls, so you have to go online and make a claim. They replied to me after 3 days to decline my claim and say they don't fix ice makers. I was lucky to reach them after a long period of time waiting on the phone, listening to horrible music that makes me lose my mind, and then there is a long period of time with no music no nothing, as if they aren't there. I asked them why they declined my claim and that my policy with them shows in detail that they cover everything. They said they changed their list since I got the policy and the options are so much more limited now. It took forever. I lost count of days and weeks to get me the service. Finally, somebody came to see what the problem was and they said they will change the ice maker. That happened in my condo that was supposed to be for rent. I went 2 days later to check on it and I couldn't open the freezer. I made another claim to tell them I can't open the freezer drawer so I don't know if the ice maker is working. It took weeks to bring someone else to come and they ended up destroying the freezer door because it was the only way to open it. Then, the technician made a claim to Service Plus to pay for the damages that happened on my 27 cubic feet Whirlpool fridge. They declined my claim. After so many phone calls, the last guy who talked to me said "your claim is declined" and hung up in my face. For my second property, I had a problem in the bathroom. It took them weeks to tell me they couldn't find a plumber to come check the problem. They told me to bring my own plumber and when they are at my house, to call them and tell them the problem. The plumber came and told me 2 pipes underground fell apart from each other so they just need to be reconnected. I told the plumber I brought and paid to please call Service Plus, and he said he would not talk to any warranty and tell them what the problem is when he spent his time to figure it out. I called Service Plus and told them my plumber refused to talk to them. I bet they knew that already. They declined my claim. They said if it's over $200, they won't fix the problem. The fix would cost $5,700. They didn't pay a penny for it. I lost my 27 cubic feet refrigerator. I have been looking for a plumber for months to fix the problem. I lost the money I paid this scam, thief, horrible service, company. They are just collecting money. I got fooled big time. I lost thousands of dollars because of them, months of my time wasted waiting and calling and begging them for help as if they are servicing me for free. And this is based on my own experience. You will face all sort of problems in getting your problem fixed. 1. Handyman no longer works but they still assign such a handyman to fix your problem! So, when you call that person, you hit the wall. And yes, BTW you are responsible for contacting the handyman and fixing an appointment that works for the handyman. 2. Handyman shows up and takes your Service fees that is due on arrival and then never shows up! Your problem still stays and the money is gone. You are responsible to get it corrected spending numerous hours with customer service who is completely clueless of what going on; and has no interest in helping you anyways 3. Handyman shows up and starts saying how the warranty company is bad and would not work for them if they had a better choice. 4. Handyman trying to take an advantage of you. Example - I have this part that you need it replaced but that is my personal property. For your fix, I will have to order one via warranty company and that will take a few weeks. A technician did come out for the appliances, but they canceled the request floor technician for the water heater before sending anyone cleaning out wasn't covered. How would they know? The technician for the appliances although saying they needed replacement, told the company, or at least that's whati was told, that it shouldn't be replaced. My clients had an issue with the pool and water heater. After several calls they were promised a reimbursement for the pool... This was 9 m months ago. In December they were promised reimbursement for a water heater repair. I am currently on hold trying to intervene. 25 minutes now. On my provide calls I was told the "check is sitting right here ready to go out". My client has been told it would be expedited several times. This is ridiculous. Contractor's read this review BEFORE you sign up to do service with this fraudulent company!! We were asked in June of 2017 to do appliance service calls for total Home Protection. We started receiving calls as soon as we had provided our information. We received a lot of calls in the first month. They approve almost none of the repairs for customers. Everything is a fight. BUT, the real problem started when it was time for our bills to be paid. Their contract states that they will pay within 30 days. THEY DO NOT!! We were waiting over 60 days on most invoices and having to call weekly to follow up and ask about payment. At one point we had over 20 invoices we were waiting on payment for. They continued to call us for service. We informed them that we would have to wait to accept any other service calls until they caught up their payments. As of today we are still waiting for 6 invoices to be paid. After listening to my secretary call them about payment I made a call to Keith Tisdale who was the Contractor Relations Representative that had signed us up. When I told him my concerns he started yelling that he put our account on hold and we would not be paid for over 90 days now. We are now filing a court case against them to recover our losses. Total Home Protection Dec 16th for 5 years plus one year for $2,250 plus service call of $45. We just moved in and needed service on New Year Eve on our HVAC system that was not heating a house in NJ in the WINTER. I placed an online ticket. I placed two more tickets and finally a vendor scheduled with me. They came out, took the $45 immediately and looked at the system. After 15 minutes, told me his time was up and that it is now being billed by his company by the hour. He could not determine what was wrong and left. WHAT??? I contacted the Total Home Protection, (THP), which is worse than standing in line with no appointment at DMV, and they called the vendor while I was on hold, the vendor did not want to do business with THP and that is when I asked for a full refund and called a reputable HVAC vendor who fixed the issue for a tune of $413. I explained to Keith from THP that the HVAC system they had come to the house to repair the vendor told me after 15 minutes of service and they cannot diagnose the issue it now is on my dime to pay for him to continue, Keith said that is not correct. The manager Keith from THP called and begged me to give them another shot and promised me he would reimburse me the $413. After 20 minutes of him begging, I said that I would. He also said that he would waive the $45 service call on the next visit. Worse mistake I made. Before hanging up he said if you have any issues going forward please call him. A week later had an electrical issue, again put in a ticket and 4 days later the Electrical vendor called and said, so and so will be there in the afternoon on that day. Whoa I said, I did not know anyone was coming. THP never said they scheduled already with you, we rescheduled for the following day. A young man arrived from the company. Not an Electrician. I told him everything that was going on, walked him around to everything and that is when he said, ok, I have to wait for the electrician Ivan/Igor to arrive. I said you are not the Electrician. I think he should have waited and they both come in at the same time. Or told me he was not the Electrician. The first young man, after testing the outlets said that the GFI's might all need replacing. The Electrician said too many GFI on one-line trips it. He also said the toaster and the coffee pot cannot be plugged in at the same time. Really?? I asked him if he was ready to see the other issues and said, this was the only thing he was scheduled for. The young man called the called his company and he was wrong they were schedule for it all. He determined 3 of the 4 issues were fine. Since they could be replicated. The GFI's are still tripping in the 4 areas. I called to speak to Keithagain, since he told me if I have any problems to speak to him directly and he of course could not be reached. Tommy who is equal to Keith answered. I insisted that I wanted to speak to Keith as he knew all the background. Bottom line I wanted to cancel. Tommy after me explaining everything to him at the end said Keith will want to speak with me. Great I said, I will not change my mind. Keith called and cancelled my account, I asked him about the $413 from January and he said that the refund of the warranty would cover it and it would be a wash. Well, NO it did not cover the $413 HVAC charge and it was not returned in full. It would have been, if they said what they said was true, and honored the CONTRACT we entered into together. In my opinion, run away from TOTAL HOME PROTECTION. Do not commit to anything with them. Not sure if they use vendors that cannot make its own their own or just poor preforming vendors, but they are not honorable and are very dishonest company. Extremely disappointed end user. This is a sham. Highway robbery. I put in a claim in October 2018 and the technician told me it was not covered due to water damage. He told me if I paid him $100. I paid and 2 days later it was not working again. We decided to just buy a new refrigerator. In February 2019 our dishwasher was not working properly. The same technician came out and after fiddling around for a half hour said he could not fix it. He put a claim for us for replacement. 3 days later I called and was told my reimbursement for a new dishwasher would be $100. The least expensive dishwasher we could find was at least $300 plus for delivery and installation. I figure the $450 premium plus $60 service hardly comes close to a replacement unit cost. This is a total scam. Please stay away. They make you believe that they are very upfront about the coverage, and like to sell that you can cancel anytime. However, when things do fail: 1) They find some flimsy reason to deny the claim. I had a water heater failure and they said they won't cover it when it fails because according to them the reason the water heater failed was because the inner tank somehow leaked, and because they don't cover tanks they are not going to bother about it. The technician that came down to replace the tank was also quiet shocked at hearing their explanation. But, for some reason, after the technician challenged them they were willing to send me a "goodwill" check for half the amount due, although they were trying to rip me off completely. 2) Also, if you try to cancel with them; they are going to try to find all the flimsy reasons to rip you off. I signed up for 5 years at a cost of $1500 and wanted to cancel the contract in the first year itself, after seeing their horrible performance. However, although their contract talks about refunding "pro-rata". They are now going to interpret that they are free to now charge you a monthly $100 rate, plus a $50 per year = $250 cancellation fee, to qualify you for less than $200 of refund. This company should not be called ServicePlus. Better name is ServiceMinus! This company will try everything possible to say your issue is not covered or they can not find a technician in your area. Recent issue: My contract says they cover plumbing leaks. I put in a request for service and after numerous calls they email me 5 days later that they can not find a technician and they preauthorized $200 for the repair and I would have to find a plumber. If I find the amount is going to be over $200. I was to get the plumber on the phone while he was diagnosing the problem. Obviously it was over $200 as I plumbers in this area charge far more than that. The plumber spoke to ServicePlus and gave the diagnosis and said he could fix it right then for $427. ServicePlus resolution mgr said to hold on while he gets approval. Then hung up on us. They had the plumbers number and mine and after waiting over a half hour and no response the plumber charged me a $69. service call and left without repairing the leak. Now a week later I still have a leak and called and after lengthy hold was once again put thru to the resolution department. Spoke to Diontray whom was quite rude and tells me my leak was not covered but they would pay me $140. anyway to get the leak fixed. I asked that he tell me where on my contract does it say a inside leak is not covered or that there is a dollar limit on a repair. He could not tell me. I ended that call and called back and asked for a manager whom not only could not tell me where on my contract is says I wasn't covered for a leak. They calculate the value of your appliance using a formula they will not share with hyou and then tell you you will get a check for $200 to replace your $1,500 appliance. The system worked perfectly until it failed due to a freon leak which is a mechanical failure that no amount of maintenance would prevent yet they are LYING and calling it a maintenance issue to get out of paying.
