    Bavarian Pretzel

I would definitely recommend coming here if you are in the area! They are on open table too so it's super easy to make a reservation. Overall, this place is super cute! They have beer mugs hanging and slowly moving around the bar and a little part of the restaurant. I was pretty entertained watching it go around. Not only is the atmosphere great, but the food is too. This place had the best sausage/bratwurst meal in Cologne (from what I tried). The meat was very flavorful and came with a generous helping of mash potatoes and sauerkraut.

    Great meal

Great meal with schnitzel, crisp duck, fish and beer. A bit longer time waiting for the food but worth it.

Kässpatzen - Cheesy Spatzel - So delicious! Almost like Mac'n Cheese

This place had so much character! I loved the decor inside the restaurant. The servers were dressed in their traditional Bavarian outfits. They even had stein cups in a conveyor belt. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share including the sausage platter. It was more than enough for two. We also ordered some Bavarian pretzels which were delicious! Lastly, we got a the cheesy Spatzel, which I have to say was my absolute favorite dish (especially since I am a Mac and cheese fan). The pasta was so fresh - I loved it! It's a touristy restaurant priced reasonably!

My GF and I came across this gem while walking around the area. We are incredibly happy we stopped by. First off the ambience is SO cute. Something out of Bavarian tunes mixed with a snow cabin feel. Theirs beer glasses rotating in front of the bar which is super awesome! My GF and I weren't that hungry so split the duck with red cabbage and dumplings€18.50! Quite yummy! Of course we got 2 half liter beers for €4.50 Our waitress was SO sweet and helpful in recommending dishes knowing perfectly well we were clueless! Wound definitely come back again for the great service alone!

    Cheers

YES - GO HERE!!!!!! If you are reading this I assume you are a tourist - check this place out! My parents live in Cologne so I know good German food and this is up there. If you are not going to the south of Germany check this place out to get the fix. Plus it's a fun place to check out. They got Bavarian outfits and big stein beer mugs rotating on a conveyor belt through the place - what else do you want ha! The food is good and the atmosphere is casual, fun, and light. The service is also great. Happy I went here to check out the place. Would come back

Amazing place like mountain cabin, wayter in typical german dress, good beer, good foods but the top, in my opinion, is the suggestive and warm atmosphere. Unmissable place in Cologne!!

    Pretzel and chicken nuggets

I've visited this place twice. As I am always scared of tourist traps, the food here is wonderful. Very fresh ingredients and pleasant wait staff. I wish I drank because the mugs traveling over your head begs for liquor. I must come here with drinkers. Don't worry I can put a dent in any place when I order food. First visit wienerschnitzel with a German potato salad, freshly made warm pretzel with butter and sweet mustard, and wieswurst. While everything was traditionally fantastic, I order my weiswurst grilled as opposed to boiled. The wienerschnitzel was moist, crispy, and not greasy. It was perfect!!!!! The potato salad had what My grandma allied. Read and butter pickles. It gave the potato salad a fatty quality without the added calories of mayo. I so wish she was Ali e to taste those pickles. She would have loved them. She used to eat them right out the jar after she made her own. The warm pretzel left me moaning as I consumed the still warm delicacy with both fresh salt free butter and sweet mustard. On my second visit I already had consumed potato soup from Gaffel am Dom, but I could leave without seeing if my first visit was a fluke. I tried my beloved pretzel with the kids chicken nuggets. This time I tried their spicy mustard for my pretzel. It was just the heat I needed with my side of butter for my pretzel. They advertise the nuggets as house made. Yes they are. Actual chunks of breast meat. Again another wonderful meal here. It was not a fluke.

Pleasant surroundings. Good service and good food. Not sure if it is Bavarian or Austrian.

The large restaurant can easily accommodate many patrons. Large roomy tables are perfect for those who don't want to feel claustrophobic. The menu is vast and in English (Angels singing). Best of all.. They had fois gras with a side scoop of sorbet... Strange but it worked! And the not so great.... The wait for the menu was 10 min. The wait to order was 15. The whole ordeal took over 2 hours. This was a bit long when you've got two young kids dining with you. The worst part? They charge 9€ for a bottle of Evian water. A bit steep in my opinion. They also have breakfast buffet here in the morning. Not the best but not so bad either. There are a variety of cheeses, breads, and meats. There's an omelette station, too. Monday guy was great but Sunday guy was a joke. I asked for an omelette...and then I returned a few minutes later... Had to repeat what I wanted and he said 10 min. 10 min later he said "10 minutes. " I go back 10 min later and he asked what I ordered! So I repeated it and he said "ahhhh it's right here" as he started throwing the ingredients in my omelette to one he was already cooking! And.... It was still wrong!

During the booking my partner advised that I am allergic to shell fish and fish and also that I would like my entire meats medium to well done. The Hyatt regency is really nice to stay in, the restaurant is located above the lobby with large windows looking out to the Rhine and the cologne Dom, when we arrived everything went very well. There was no menu as they cooked only one type of meal due to the volume of guests which in my mind was not a great service, I feel that eating in a 5 star hotel and restaurant one should at least get a menu, plus the wines were also laid out to according to what you ate. Anyway, after two hours of waiting and a group of very hungry customers, greetings from the kitchen arrived and what do you know I got shell fish, I didn't really make a fuss and just handed it to a friend, then the starter arrived and what do you know it was fish, I told the waitress that due to the booking agreement it was made clear I couldn't eat fish of course she said that this wasn't made clear and there was no alternative they could offer, I asked about salad and she said they didn't have any. The soup course arrived and woohoo it was fish soup and so the argument started and I am sitting there thinking I paid 150 Euros for a meal which I cant even eat and I thought what a farse! Anyway, she changed it after a long winded argument for something which was so bland in taste, dirty water had more appeal. After another 2 hours waiting the main course arrived and I was served, under cooked duck which was red in the inside and slightly frozen, it was very clear that this was done as an extra for me as everyone at the table were eating fish. I complained and asked for the manager and my reply was there wasn't a manager on service, then I asked for the chef who refused to come out and see me, then I replied if he wont come out then I will go in, finally a manager arrived and said it was normal for duck to be that red and I said what about the frozen part, anyway, he just snapped the plate from me and walked off saying nothing, I just looked shocked at the rest of my family whom thought it must be a prank been played. No, no prank 30 minutes past and he came from the kitchen with a new plate of food, cod and fried pototoes and I looked at him with shock and said I cant eat fish, he looked at me really nasty and started to fight with me and I just said lets forget about it, if its too much trouble to throw the duck back in the pan then lets forget about the dinner all together, he walked off and he never came back. Woohoo dessert arrived, I was so hungry I could eat a horse unfortunately there was no meat to be dished up, well not for me anyway, I though no way could they kill a dessert and boy was I wrong, they were so many tastes crashing against one another that it was just a major car crash, strawberry and cherry sorbet with curry ice cream, with a tiny piece of mint cake to very sour berries to coffee cream. No one at the table could eat the dessert it was that bad! Afterwards I had it, I spent 150 Euros excluding the drinks for a meal I couldn't even eat and I didn't care if they threw me out I wanted my money back and after 1 hour of a fuelled argument in the down stairs lobby I got my money back and then having the nerve to state please do come again. The food here is car crash gone bad, taste over lap each other and it just doesn't fit. In my personal experience I would avoid this restaurant like a bad rash!

My son had trouble choosing between the two French toast options, so he ordered the mini versions of both. He preferred the cookie dough flavor (rated it 4.5/5) but also really liked the vanilla sky (4/5). I went with a cold brew, the vegan Nordic-style eggs Benedict, and a Princess Peach mimosa -- everything was flavorful and well-prepared. My husband ordered the Mexican-style eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. He mentioned that the ingredients tasted fresh and the dish was great, though he could've done without the peppercorn garnish. Honestly, the most difficult part for me was picking just one thing from the menu -- so many tempting choices! Big bonus for how vegetarian- and vegan-friendly the place is. Be prepared to wait a while for your food, as the staff is clearly working hard and juggling a lot. Probably not the best spot if you're in a rush, but great for a long and relaxing breakfast/brunch. If I had one critique, it's that the prices felt a bit high for the portion sizes. Still, I'd definitely come back.
