Maybe a giant sign too since I would never found this place if I did not find it on Yelp. They provide painless walk-ins to see the animals. I love Cari, a brown sweet pit bull. I hope she finds a forever home. The staff were nice and accommodating as well. Thanks Berkeley Animal Care Services.

Heartbreaking Lack of Transparency:…read more My wife and I found a gentle, adoptable young German Shepherd during a storm in the Berkeley Hills. We brought him to the shelter to be scanned for a chip, told them multiple times we cared about him, and even emailed to say we would foster him so he wouldn't be euthanized. For several days, he appeared only on the "lost dog" page, then suddenly disappeared. He was never listed for adoption. When we called, we were told he was "being evaluated." Only after pushing did it become clear euthanasia was on the table. The next day, with a confirmed foster ready to pick him up immediately, we called again -- and learned he was already being euthanized at that very moment. We begged them to stop, but it was too late. This was a healthy, loving, adoptable dog with people ready to help. What was missing was clear communication, transparency, and a chance to intervene. The staff I spoke to were polite, but the system urgently needs: - Clear timelines and notice before euthanasia - Public listing of adoptable and at-risk dogs - A functioning foster program I hope no one else goes through this. Berkeley can and should do better. PS: Attaching the picture of Max. We loved him dearly.

We had a couple of conversations to clarify what was going on. I wasn't ready to execute the best but more costly option to fix the issue, so he recommended an extender. I couldn't get it to work, so he ended up coming to check it out and get it working. Julian is friendly and easy to work with, and I will hire him for future electrical work.

The long and short is it crashed halfway through an OS update and hasn't worked since. Julian contacted me after a Yelp query - I figured I'd retry and was ready to ship this thing somewhere for repair (again, I tried everything before with no luck). After I explained what was happening, he said, "We'll get you up and running, Tony, don't worry". He heard me out and sent me step-by-step triage and recovery instructions, which worked perfectly. He called about an hour later to check on me, and I was beyond happy he resolved the issue; I didn't have to leave my crib, and it was done within an hour (after letting it sit for years). Everything worked perfectly. I have my computer and electronics handyman for all future work. See my review distribution. I'm very fair and will call out less-than-desirable service. Likewise, when someone earns solid recognition for professionalism and providing the service advertised - they should get a shoutout. Julian, you rock!

I was a student who attended this program & worked here. Do NOT bring your children here. I…read moreattended this program from kindergarten to fourth grade & all I learned was to fear adults. I was severely bullied by students & even when my parents told staff nothing was done. The bullying doesn't only come from children but from teachers too. Staff will pick & choose who's their favorite which leads to unfair/unequal treatment. I received comments from teachers throughout the years that made me never want to confide in adults. As a worker I noticed that favoritism towards certain students was still a thing. My younger sibling was also in this program around 2018 but my family had to pull him out because of how BAD he was getting bullied & ATTACKED. One thing you should know is that if ur related to the staff, they will always protect you, even if ur the agresor. My brother was being bullied by this one kid who I witnessed harassing other students. This harassment ranged from verbal to physical. When my family brought this up to the director she informed them that he has some problems so they couldn't do anything. No discipline No suspension much less a expulsion. In any other school this student would've faced disciplinary action or even been expelled. Come to find out he's related to some workers at the program so OF COURSE they won't kick him out. I only point this out because i've noticed this pattern, if your related to any staff you can cause as much havoc as you want! I grew up with this program so it holds a spot in my heart...but it doesn't take away that the staff here are no where near professional. Unfortunately the years of bullying did have a great impact on my mental health and I'm still recovering from the experiences I went through with this program. . Every time I pass it instead of remembering any good memories, I remember being being belittled & bullied. This is 1 experience in a mix of a million but I promise my experience is not unique. I was the unlucky child who has no family at this program so I was always cared for less. That's how I saw it then & how I saw it now. edit: I will say there are/were some good teachers who genuinely care about the students.
