There is a paved path all around the park for a nice hike or run, Three baseball fields, basketball and tennis courts, a small playground and water pad for the littles, there's ample green space, and a wooded area that features a Forked Aster Trail. The robins were really having a "field day" recently in the spring, and I spotted a few migrating birds, if you're a birder. Not a bad park on the St. Francis/Cudahy border.

Hales Corners Park is a very nice, large park with plenty of amenities for families and…read moreneighborhood fun. On the north end of the park, there's a large play structure with swings, another swingset with a sand play area, a children's splash pad water feature and restrooms. The restrooms, in particular, are very helpful for families with younger kids, or visitors who are picnicking. The south end of the park includes a parking lot, the Hales Corners swimming pool, a rock climbing structure, and a baseball diamond. The south end also features tennis courts, a veteran's memorial and the park is adjacent to the Hales Corners Public library and the Ben Hunt cabin. The park stretches out over a large field space extending to the west, and crosses a small stream to another parking area and a large open hill often used for sledding. In the winter, the Park is home to the Allison Dudek ice skating rink. This summer the Hales Corners Park was host to the Sprecher beer garden, and the park is also home to Hales Corners' 4th of July festivities and fireworks, and Hales Corners National Night Out. Overall, it's a great park!

I don't think I've seen an overflowing garbage can (except during a concert once in a while) and litter is rarely spotted. The Friends of Humboldt Park plant and maintain a pollinator flower bed, a special bonus in our neighborhood park. My schedule hasn't allowed me to catch any of the Tuesday night concerts yet this season, but I went multiple times last year and enjoyed the variety of acts. The playground is small (compared to South Shore, for example) but in good condition with a nice variety of equipment, some especially nice for smaller kiddoes.

Bathroom located right off the parking- was nice and clean for a park bathroom. The river was a great route! We did just under 2.5 miles. Saw lots of turtles and a family of ducks.

When we arrived make up/hair/outfits ready to go on Sat the park was closed for a private event! Now we looked it up and this private event was being advertised but not in such a way that gave ANY impression that the park would be otherwise shutdown!! They should have posted additional signs to note that the park would be closed. We couldn't even get tickets to the event day of since we would have happily paid the small fee but it was a ticket only with the one walk up time being still an hour plus away from the time it was and it seem like not a true guarantee for tickets. The only reason for any stars for this experience is to combine it with the visit from the week prior to when we actually got to get into the park - the trails are nice and there are so many great area for photos!

The paths are soft and there are some nice water features like small ponds. It is an urban educational park affiliated with Milwaukee Rex Department and Milwaukee Public Schools so there are educational signs with facts about nature everywhere. For families, there is a playground, too. My husband and I attended a special Holiday Lights event the Sunday before Christmas. It was geared toward families but we had fun walking the path and enjoying the lights. Very fun and only $4 each! Hot chocolate and s'mores at the end helped warm us back up. This was a great inexpensive and quick holiday outing on a Sunday night.

We like grabbing carryout dinner nearby, bringing it up the big stairs, and hopefully get a bench. We've seen a few picnickers up here, but not many- this park is aptly adored by those in the know, without being as popular as it deserves to be. There are some kid playground areas, a basketball hoop (it deserves a few more of those, honestly), there's a great walking loop, running up the stairs, and wildlife (we heard and saw a redtailed hawk recently), and lots of green space! I think the bottom of the hill to the north deserves a bandshell, as the slope up the hill would make a perfect "Chill on the Hill 2" space for music and neighborhood gatherings. Just when you think you've seen MKE at its finest along comes another breathtaking spot to view the place from. The latest spot has one the most spectacular views I've experienced to date. You can see all of downtown and even as far out as Lake Michigan when it's clear. The place is Kilbourn Park! Reading fellow Yelpers reviews I am floored that this was once a closed off area and you couldn't even get around up top to experience it. Either way it is what it is now a beautiful park for all to enjoy! It is what I would call the edge of Riverwest proper. If you look back to the North you will see the tallest site in Riverwest, Our Lady Divine Providence church, with its stunning green roof standing there all alone in all its glory. Love walking through this city and taking all the sites in!

Cudahy Nature Preserve: This 42-acre forested area located near Milwaukee Mitchell International…read moreAirport was designated a State Natural Area in 2002. It's one of three such areas in Milwaukee County. I was unable to find an explanation, but it's odd that the preserve is in the city of Oak Creek and not the city of Cudahy. The area is comprised of a small parking lot, shelter, and two distinct woodlands separated by a stream. I included a picture of the map to help illustrate, but a single trail with two loops goes through each section of the forest. According to the information provided by the state online, the north section is a dry-mesic forest dominated by red oak, white oak, black cherry, and shagbark hickory trees. The south woods are moister and supports an old-growth forest containing sugar maple, American beech, red oak, white ash, and ironwood trees. It was a nice enough trail, but my first visit was in July and not only were the mosquitos bad (especially in the south woods), but I was continuously bombarded by flies like a piece of dog poop. Sorry for the crude analogy, but it's pretty accurate. I'll need to visit again in the fall when the colors are in full swing and the bugs are long dead. As I mentioned earlier, there is a tiny parking lot, but it currently has no parking spaces painted on the ground. I was not a fan of the narrow and blind turn into and out of the lot connecting it to College Avenue either. The Nature Preserve itself is nice, but this is a below average lot that needs some care. Overall, this is a short trail that those looking for somewhere new to explore might enjoy. Personally, I recommend driving five minutes further east to either Grant or Warnimont Parks on the shore of Lake Michigan.

Underused County forest preserve with parking for only 4 vehicles right near the airport. There's…read morea covered gazebo area with room for a small party but I'm not sure they ever do that. A very pleasant forest hike, one circuit is only 7 minutes, the other about 40 minutes at a leisurely pace, so if you take both you can have around a 45-50 minute pleasant easy hike. Insect repellent is a must, but the foliage is dense enough that sunblock isn't actually necessary. Trail can be muddy if it rains overnight.
