Listen, these business repair shops are slowly drying up on Long Island. The folks running the…read morerepair shop at The Home Depot is maddening, everyone has a throw away mentality. When I built my house twenty plus years ago, my wife's grandparents moved to Tampa. Grandpa gave me his Craftsman Lawmower that I used until 2017. Point being, the place I took it to for blade sharpening on Rt 112 closed. I brought it to Home Depot and I watched the Key Stone Cops try to repair my lawnmower. Needless to say, I bought a new one.. Enter Eddie's Power Equipt. It's in St James, close to home. When I asked about my lawnmower, the price was a little high. Now that the Rt 112 place closed, lets see how they do with my snow blower. This winter was mild, you can thank me because now I spent money on my snow blower, there will be no more snow for the season. I met with the counter folks, nice bunch of guys. I was quoted a price, they'll change the plug, the oil and make sure she's running right. My baby blower needed a carburetor part. Eddie has my back. I picked up my blower today, part is installed. I started her up and she seems good as new again. Here's the issue: It cost about $250 all said and done. Mr Eddie has brand new units starting at $350. My wife and I looked at each other, does it make sense to just throw things away and keep on getting newer equipment? Eddie's Power Equipt has a lot of nice new outside devices: Snow Blowers, Lawn Mowers, Chain Saws and some other power equipment that I'm sure they sell at this location. They seem like a bunch of knowledgeable folks, I'm glad they're still in business so I give them 5 Yelp stars for both my repair and being a locally owned business that services our community.

The Dewalt shop is next door to it (it must be new since Street View isn't updated yet either). It turned out the saw I'd brought in for a repair was just not properly tightened up and the friendly staff fixed my issue at no charge. It was a truly great experience. The store also has lots of Dewalt merchandise on sale for purchase if you're looking for that.

It was sent to a third party repair company, which are as incompetent and the appliance store. They are Island Wide Appliance in Patchogue. The technician had no clue how to fix the cooktop. I have been dealing with this every day for four weeks. They are not sure what is wrong, yet they keep telling me the parts are back ordered. Still have no resolve. Customer service and the service center have not been helpful at all. Adding insult to injury, they billed me for a double oven I did not purchase. I am not sure what to do next. FYI - I paid over $6,000 plus installation for the paperweight.
