Beautiful scenery and homes along the trail and not to mention you're surrounded by water and the sound of the stream will keep you going. I did see a few people out riding bikes as well. I'm a biker myself, but didn't think that the trail was large enough for large groups on bikes. But then again, are most trails ever?? If you're in the area please do plan to check it out and go for a stroll. Parking is limited, but also available down the street.

They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.

The annual July 4th event is the biggest in the area and is great for families. The park also features a farmer's market one day a week, and other events featuring food trucks and vendors. There is ample parking, picnic tables and a historic town hall. One event that is fun for the kids is the painted rock hunt. People have painted rocks and have scattered them throughout the area kids can pick them up as they see them, take pictures of them, and hide them for others to find. This is a great park!

I absolutely love the West Columbia Riverwalk. I've been coming here for years, sometimes to run,…read moresometimes to take a leisurely stroll, walk my dog, clear my head, converse with friends, etc. No matter what time of year you go, it's absolutely beautiful, but I think it's at its peak during the spring months, such as March and April. While you obviously get a great view of the Congaree River, there's also an abundance of flora and fauna for you to look at, and it's fun to try and spot the turtles perched up on the rocks on a sunny day. There's also a lot of really cool pieces of artwork painted onto the bridge-beams surrounding the river, as well as an assortment of picnic tables and viewing benches for you to sit down and relax. All-in-all, I love the Riverwalk, and I'll be coming back for years to come.

Finlay Park offers a GREAT playground with slides, rope ladders, climbing limbs, splash pad, and turf slide. Plenty of room to relax or log a few steps. There is a beautiful water fountain, grotto and pond where they offer sailboat rentals . There is also 2 miles of sidewalk and pathways for walking or taking advantage of the roller skate rentals they offer. Not to mention pickleball courts, ping pong, soccer goals, and fitness court. A round of applause to the City of Columbia for this amazing recreational and public space.

The kids had an absolute blast sliding down the big grass hill, honestly, that alone kept them entertained for a while! The playground area was great for them to run around and burn off energy, and everything felt pretty open and relaxed. This is the jewel of the Hollywood Rose Hill Neighborhood. The gardens are maintained by…read moreneighborhood volunteers (including USC students who help during The Big Event every year). We have many neighborhood generated improvements through the years by partnering with the city and getting grant funding, such as putting up shade sails over the playground and more tables around the park perimeter. It is a great place for neighborhood events, for reading a book, playing games on the lawn, having a picnic, doing outdoor yoga, walking through with or without a dog. This is not a dog park, so dogs need to stay on a leash at all times, as they do throughout the city except in your own yard and at designated dog parks. We are getting a new water fountain and there are two faucets in the park. The pavillion is covered and has 2 picnic tables. There is also an Historic Columbia sign telling about the history of the park and the HRH neighborhood. We love our park and think you will too.
