I camped here last weekend with my hubby and some of his distant relatives. They are all serious campers with nice campers/RVs that have all the creature comforts. Hubby & I are basic campers... as in we have a tent with an air mattress, lol!
There were definitely some pros and cons to this campground. First, it is a pretty large site and has a lot of neat features. They have plenty of trails, beach for swimmers on the lake, boat launch, marina, visitor center/amphitheater, and easy access garbage bins for clean up when you leave.
As far as the actual camping, the spaces are broken down into several different sections. We were in Meadow Camp which was made up of sites 43-86.
The Meadow camp had a central playground as well as bathroom/shower facilities. The bathroom/showers were clean and stocked with plenty of TP. But a little more user friendly layout would have been nice. The womens side had 3 toilets, 2 showers, 2 sinks with mirrors. The mens side apparently had 2 showers, 2 sinks, 2 urinals, and 1 toilet.
The actual campsites were nice & roomy. Plenty of room on level pad for parking RV or Camper & plus room for parking your car or truck. Electrical hookup is available. Then, a second smaller level area with firepit (including grate) and 2 picnic tables.
You can have 1 Camper/Rv and 1 tent per site generally. (However, other options may exist for group sites.) The standard sites were a little too close together for our taste. We like to have a little more privacy than this cul-de-sac offered. The first night we arrived was a Thursday night & we were thrilled that there were plenty of empty spaces around us. Unfortunately they were all filled up by Fri PM.
The campground is supposed to have quiet hours at night, but unfortunately there were a group of loud & obnoxious campers who were blasting music & partying well after 10 pm one night. I think someone complained to the rangers because the next night they were conspicuously quiet.
Overall, this is a very good facility, but would have been 5 stars with a little more privacy/separation between campsites and better bathroom/shower facilities (more mirrors, counterspace, benches, etc).
If you want to go during Peak Season, be sure to make a reservation because this place is very popular & fills up. When my hubby made our reservation, we literally booked the last available site for the weekend.
Sites range from $24-36 per night. read more
