This is an excellent studio with a well established martial arts program and highly trained instructors. My boys have been with Seven Spears, with Stephanie Spears as the lead instructor and owner, since the beginning (6+ years) and have grown so much as people and with their martial arts capabilities. My older son went through the program, taking the leadership class, volunteering and has obtained his first and second degree black belts. Now he instructs as well and with all of his leadership training he has become a great instructor as well. My younger son struggled during covid but was welcomed back a year later and has worked his way back to blue belt. I love that the classes include more than one instructor and also higher level student helpers- this really helps push the kids along quickly and with great technique. From our few sessions there, I can tell there are no egos and everyone is more than willing to introduce themselves (shoutout to Ashley!) Our son has been attending the Tiny Tigers class for the past several months and has really enjoyed it! It's been great for him to expend some energy twice a week. Stephanie and staff have been very welcoming and incorporate important values like respect, hard work, and discipline into the lessons. Our son also loves Ninja Night, which is a monthly opportunity for parents to drop off their kids for a few hours (for a very reasonable fee I might add) so they can have pizza and play games with their friends. Found a hardcore muy Thai studio in poway! Whoo hoo. I don't necessarily like to fight but I love learning technique, the workout and learning thiS as a skill. And kicking, punching people and bags? Who doesn't like that? I was watching stephanie's class. She is an amazing teacher and owner of the studio. I like the muy Thai class mon thru thurs 7-8p as it works with my work schedule. The class has all ages but mostly adults. The instructors and students here are really cool and welcoming. I took Mr. Marco's class. We did across the floor drillS and bagwork. I learned some new moves I haven't done before in 2 years on and off training. This studio requires you to come at least twice a week. For the reason to keep you in good shape, for discipline and so you can improve. Cost: around $110 a month for unlimited classes. Currently there is no punch card available. Amenities: it's smaller than some places but I i never feel crowded. Love the soft padded floor. There are 6 or 7 punch bags. read more

It's been great for her to burn a little energy during the week and she's really loving the karate! Stephanie and staff have been so welcoming and help really teach the kids about moral values. We have been members of 7 Spears since Oct of 2021. My son initially started Jiujitsu before he turned 5 years old in 2018 at a prior location with Coach Rod. He was one that needed a TON of patience in the beginning and these coaches are here for it! Thanks to the pandemic we had to stop his training and I thought all was lost as transition was an issue for him. BUT when they opened back up with 7 Spears it turned out to be the best combo since my son discovered Muay Thai as well! We still don't go every day as he's the type that needs to be have multiple extra-curricular activities to burn off energy BUT he definitely enjoys it. He is now 9 and still enjoys training. It's encouraged my 6 year old to start BJJ also. He now claims he wants to start Muay Thai as well! read more

First time trying BJJ and fell in love after my first week. Professor Rodrigo and his assistant were super attentive and made sure to teach me basic skills safely without making me stand out as the only newbie! All the members are super supportive, respectful and friendly. I felt comfortable immediately and enjoy the challenge of learning new skills, which was why I decided to join. We love Seven Spears! My 7 year old son started in December and has already made a lot of progress and learned so much. There's a great mix of high expectations and pushing the kids to be their best while still being encouraging and having fun. Stripes and belts aren't just given out, they have to be earned, but each kid is given the support he/she needs to succeed. My son had to step away from class for several weeks because of a (unrelated) broken arm, and the instructors were great working with him to get him back to full strength without re-injuring himself. Because of the stay-at-home order in recent months, we've switched to their online classes, which have exceeded my expectations. Seven Spears has really taken advantage of the strengths of the online platform and put effort into making it a good experience for the kids even though they can't physically go to class. I originally thought it would be another setback for my son (right after getting back into classes after the broken arm!), but he has grown so much in his skills and his focus in the past 2 months. read more

Mr. Angelo and Ms. Stephanie are amazing! My son entered the tiny tigers at 4 years old and was in need of additional structure and focus (especially in these pandemic times). My 7 and 9 year old kids have been practicing Tang Soo Do at Seven Spears for 2 months now, and it's been wonderful. All three teachers are helpful with high expectations of the students' progress and behavior.
