I've used multiple apparel fabrics from here for purses and tote bags. They have many different color and pattern options. The 2 employees I see every time are very nice and offer to move and carry the heavy rolls for you to the cutting counter. They are also available to consult with you on the fabrics best fit to the project you're looking to do. Apparel fabrics $5/yard and upholstery $10/yard. Those are unbeatable prices for both small and large projects. It's definitely worth a stop if you're nearby, even if you're not the target sewing demographic!

For the prices they charge and low-quality / discontinued fabric, this is far from an upscale fabric / upholstery atelier. The customer service is worse than the product and presentation. Upon walking in, no one greeted me, despite the fact that two employees were chatting at the central desk near the door. I found my way to the back area with the upholstery fabric. I wandered around a bit looking at the myriad sample decks. Because there was no information or pricing on anything, I returned and waited for the woman at the central desk to finish her chit-chat before acknowledging me. She apologized for being short-staffed (so probably not a good time to stand around and chat.) Upon arriving back in the upholstery fabric area, I began explaining my project and said I was seeking fabric in the $30-40/yard range. She abruptly cut me off and said sharply, "Don't have it." I explained I was able to find quite a few options online and know they exist in this range elsewhere and she snapped, "Then go online." I continued the conversation forward by describing the overall dimensions of the cushion seating bench and she again cut me off with a sharp-toned "How many yards?" as if I didn't know how to plan a cushion (or add and multiply). I bluntly replied, "Don't be short with me. I've been sewing for 30 years." I never understand why so-called "experts" (sales clerks) feel the need to be defensive and condescending rather than patient and helpful. There are a million questions she SHOULD have asked before this last one: desired quality, use, color, pattern, touch, durability, etc. Once we discussed details a bit more, she said, "All we have in the $30 range is cotton." If you had something in that range, why didn't you say so in the first place . . . other than trying to steer me into a higher price? When she showed me the swatches, I asked for the specific pricing as nothing was labeled. She replied with, "Can you imagine if we had to price everything individually?" At the end of my rope with her, I simply stated, "Yeah, you would actually have to work." I then turned and walked out. Too bad she couldn't have been attentive, pleasant, and helpful. Had she treated me with respect and courtesy, she would have made nice sale and new customer. Instead, she earned the store yet another 1-star rating on Yelp.

Lots of patterns for quilts, bags, and all those notions and things that you did know that you needed. Recently I just attended a vintage sewing machine repair class, limited the number of students, social distanced and everyone was masked for the entirety of the class. I felt very safe. Also, the store is on the second floor. There is an elevator. During this COVID time, there are numbers on the first floor door to grab as they are only letting people in with a number. When the numbers are not hanging, you have to wait for a customer to return their number, then you can grab it and come it. It's a really nice system.

A class to make a wall hanging, for instance, may be only $25. Quilting isn't an inexpensive hobby, either, so I'm sure local quilters can appreciate that. The atmosphere was very friendly, too. Customers were chatting among themselves and with the staff when I visited. The clerk was more than happy to discuss their classes and the store's website with me at length.
