For this activity, you're essentially creating a rustic art piece (choose from sign, doormat, or door hangar) with a stencil/graphic of your choosing. Prices differ depending on the the type and size of the piece of you want to do. Probably the most inviting and exciting part of this whole process is choosing your stencil/graphic... and ooooh baby, does TRB got you covered! Love-themed stencils, adventure/travel-themed stencils, religious-themed stencils, ones for pets, ones for every room in the house... you're bound to find something that calls to you! And if not, you can customize your own graphic for an extra fee. I love that TRB's website sorts everything out into categories, so it's a lot easier to spot something you like. Once you reserve your timeslot, choose your sign, size, and graphic, all you need to do is show up. A few gal-pals and I decided to do Sunday Funday at TRB's new location in Katy today and it was an AWESOME experience! We arrived with snacks 'n dranks (emphasis on the dranks) in tow, and found our materials and stencils prepared and ready for us. The staff members were great at walking us through the process and assisting us whenever we needed something. Unlike painting classes where you have to follow a guide, you can move at your own pace here; the staff will always be around if you get stuck. That said, BIG KUDOS to them for being so patient with us even though we kept scurrying off to eat and take shots in between brush strokes (we were being judged so hard by other patrons for this, haha!). After a few hours (mind you, we were a party of 5), our masterpieces were done. Each of us had signs varying in size, alignment, and colors; some of us did gradient/ombre effects; some threw glitter on it... I love how each piece came out completely original and unique! Overall, it was such a rewarding experience. In between the painting and hammering, you truly find your inner creative badass, and in the end, you get to bring home something original and 100% your own. Unlike painting classes where everyone creates the same boring picture that will probably end up collecting dust in someone's closet, this is a place I can totally see myself coming back to again and again to create unique pieces for my home. I'm already planning on bringing my hubby sometime soon so we can create something for our living room! Anyway... there you have it, folks - time to drop the painting brush and pick up the hammer!

The projects and techniques taught here are one of a kind for sure!! Students learn more here than they probably do in their regular art class. The classes have a limit of 12 students so there is a special one on one connection that students can receive. Public school settings usually require the teacher to spread themselves thin with 25+ size classes. They provide a WIDE range of age groups and studios! Michelle our instructor was understanding in these matters and she jugged both the students who were their on time, who were 15 mins into their paintings and my family who were settling in. Michelle got us up to speed within 10 mins of our arrival. The example painting was very intimidating for first timers, but Michelle dissected each section of the example painting with efficiency but realistic tips and tricks. She was super helpful in aiding us with aspects that were to scary to attempt on our own. Their was a 5 minute break were you could sip and snack, but we mostly kept painting because it fun and relaxing. Top 40 hits was playing in the background which allow me to relax even more, and sing lowly the lyrics. Overall we had a blast. Recommendations: wear clothes you can get paint on, you have an apron, but things happen. Have a small bag with you, big hand bags take up space under the table. If you have a Groupon deal, print it before you come. Bring a small sitting pillow, the old backside gets numb when you sit for 2 hours on small plastic stool. Its a unisex restroom, go easy on the liquids. Have a protective cloth and space in your car for transport of your masterpiece after. All in all we had a grand time.

You let Liz know what you want to paint and she sketches the image and provides a color picture of what you are painting to follow. My mom and I did a Brazilian neighborhood and my daughter painted a cartoon character while my son painted a Ninja Turtle. Liz provided the paint, canvas, apron and brushes and was there if you had any questions. It was a fun family activity in an extremely comfortable environment. The entire process took about 2 hours, which was probably longer due to the frequent wine breaks in between. The owners /instructors were very first timer friendly (she did explain very quickly so pay attention). You get to choose from 8 different things to make and they help you through every step. It is a 4 week process though. You come in to throw your piece of work and then you have to go back 2 weeks after to paint and fire your works of art!
