This place is pretty big and very clean. There is plenty of parking in the parking lot. The staff was nice and very informative. They made sure that we understood the rules and safety for the gun range. I went with a group of 7. Someone from our party had a membership which was helpful to receive a discount. They have different discounts throughout the week. On Wednesdays, it's ladies night and you get a discount for the range fee and a free gun rental. read more

This was my 1st time at a range. When you walk in every is very helpful. If you never been there you must sign a waiver that is kept on file. I did they inform them I have shot a gun before but never. They will put you through a safety test to see if you know how to unload a clip and pull it back to show the chamber is empty. The people in there are very knowledgeable and helpful. The lane and gun rentals are good prices. Wednesday is ladies night and prices are half that off and 1 free rental. They also offer classes which I recommend people should take if they never shot a gun. read more

When the man finally opened the door, I jokingly said, "we're all so hot out here We were tak a vote if we would shoot you". ... It was a joke. He said " this is a gun range and we don't take that kind of joke, GET OUT go over and give your name and we will send you a refund." I was stunned but complied thinking 'six hours with a jerk like him??? I don't think so.'. Why would a company employ someone that has such a big chip on their shoulder? Helpful and friendly staff. Ranges are well lit, ventilated and clean. The area is large and spacious, with a lounge area separating the store and gun range. Nice place good people working there I signed for 6months membership however I couldn't go and I got email from Amy burchfield telling me not even in the nice way : (( You signed up for the 6-month agreement. Which means you are responsible for payment for the term you agreed upon, and we are entitled to cover our costs if you fail to meet your agreement. That's where collections come in. You have only paid 1 month of the 6-month agreement. You are currently 2 months behind on your payments and have until the end of this month to pay your outstanding balance, or the membership will be turned over to collections. )) Which is not saying that at all when you sign so be aware of this and don't sign up for a membership! As a former pacifist and realizing that being nice gets you absolutely nowhere , I decided to step up my game and learn the finer points of load , cock and shoot. They also have simulators with an instructor with a glock and CO2 Cartriges so you can get a feel for real life scenarios without the smell or expense of gun powder . We did that 7 times and it was good experience for those not used to being around guns.I am not originally from Texas so didn't grow up around them however you need to be hyperaware living here. HOWEVER like any country girl born and raised in a small town of less than 400 people, i know how to shoot a gun. i took my friend and husband to Athena because my friend has just gone through a rough breakup and i thought "hell, what better way to let off some steam" shoutout to Daniel !! My friends and I decided to try out a shooting range during our trip to Houston and we are so glad we chose this one. From the moment we walked in, everyone was not only polite but also genuinely welcoming. Seth was with us the entire day. He listened to what we wanted to try, gave great suggestions, and also taught our class. He made the learning experience both fun and focused on safety, walking us through the steps thoroughly in the classroom before heading out to the lanes. Once in the lanes, he stayed with us for a couple of rounds to make sure we felt comfortable, safe, and confident. He really helped us relax and enjoy the experience. Thank you to everyone at Athena and especially to Seth for making it such a memorable day. My First time here. I was so excited to come to this location. Everyone raves about it. Unfortunately i didn't have a good experience. The staff was nice upon entering. But it went down hill from there. My friend had booked two lanes for two of us. It was a slow night by the way. There was a miscommunication with the staff in the front with the staff in the back by the range. When I arrived my friend was already in the lane shooting. I told the gentleman this information and he said ok you have the lane right next to him and told me to go to the back towards the range and the next person would help me get set up. There was only a few people shooting so when I went to set up I ended up talking to my friend before I set up. I went to the lane next to him and the guy came over and yelled at me telling me I had to stay in the same lane as my friend. Even though there was literally 3 people shooting in there and we had two lanes reserved he didn't know that. It rubbed me the wrong way and it felt like he wanted power over a woman. Like a womanizer or very degrading. I told the manager when I left but they didn't seem to care. If you're a woman.... I would rethink about coming here! Which is strange for me to feel this way since they have special classes for women. read more

First off I came to Houston on vacation.To enjoy myself and have a great experience.Athena Club was on my bucket list.As I walked in it was definitely not as welcoming to began with.The level of racism that me and my friends received was insane.The profiling they did on a group of black women when all we wanted to do was enjoy our time at the gun range.The guy who was at the counter where you rent the fire arms was very rude.He did not want to help us with anything he told us we could NOT take a class to teach us how to use the firearms And if we could not load them up we can't shoot here at the range.How do you expect someone to do something they haven't ever tried ? it was a very bad experience we definitely felt profiled.I'm just bringing light to the situation.Also I Don't recommend for anyone to come here.ESPECIALLY NOT ANYONE OF COLOR.This experience is by far the worse.I didn't think racism still exist but it sure does out here.I could not believe it.I won't be coming back out here for sure. read more

While I can't say I've been to many gun clubs, I do like Athena. Parking is plentiful, the staff is approachable, the club is luxurious and the prices are on point. If you Like them on Facebook, they advertise special days where you can rent certain types of guns and get special discounts. So I have to say I was glad that I waited to write my review. Lets go back to the beginning of the pandemic. I had been ahead of things and had stocked up with supplies and thought that I had managed to get my (first gun) online. Needless to say I was fuming when my gun ended up getting sold to someone else. The store was pretty good about communicating and promptly refunded my purchase. I did end up getting another gun which I am happy about having and of course - what a great place to use for practice. They have a nice indoor range - its a good place to practice your marksmanship. If you don't have a gun and are interested you can always practice with one to get a feel for it. And last but not least the staff has been consistently helpful and friendly - I would recommend visiting here. read more

So it had been over a decade since I had been to a gun range and I was literally sweating bullets!Thankfully, I got some of the best customer service I've had in Houston in a long time. I was greeted at the front desk by a friendly and smiling face. Then assisted with seectiin of a rental gun and put through a cursory test of gun parts. They put me in the range closest to the desk and kept a close eye on me the whole time as they could tell I was nervous. A couple of times the staff came in to give me pointers and tips on how to shoot. I really appreciated them going above and beyond to try to make me as comfortable as possible. He explained everything in detail and was very patient with me. We went through several drills that helped me get rid of my bad habits and improve my accuracy. This is the first time that I have rated a business 3 times going from a 2 to a 3 and now a 4. My reason for the upgrade is that I have visited this range almost 50 times now and have realized many positive experiences. Without repeating the previous reviews, I believe this is the largest and nicest indoor shooting facility in Houston. It offers a large pro shop, on site gunsmith, indoor simulator training, on staff instructors and a large selection of gun rentals available. The private parking lot is also large enough to meet all needs and the location is convenient on the I-10 Katy Freeway and the Beltway. An attractive feature to me is 1/2 price Tuesday's for License to Carry Holders. They also offer 1/2 price on Monday's for age 55 and older and 1/2 price Wednesday's for women. Another attractive feature for me is that Athena allows shooters to draw from the holster after the individual has been certified by one of their instructors that the presentation is done correctly and safely. Staff have been friendly, helpful and courteous. Weekends can be very busy here so that's another reason I prefer to come on weekdays. I am glad Houston has a facility like this. read more

A few weeks ago, I went in on a Saturday. It was a two hour wait for a lane. During that time I was informed of the option of reservations for lanes. No charge was ever mentioned. Yesterday, I went in to make a reservation for today. I paid, and was told to check in and provide my receipt when I arrived. I checked in at the front desk and directed to then check in to desk at the right. It was then I was informed I had to pay an additional fee for the lane. The previous fee was for my reservation. So in all, to shoot at Athena, I was in $54.12. Prior to finding out about my lane fee, I purchased trijicon HD XR sights, for a pistol. The day before, when reserving my spot, I spoke to one of the gunsmiths who was very cordial, told me to drop it off and that he would take care of it. "Maybe 10 minutes." While checking out for the sights, one of the sales representatives asked a different gunsmith, I believe the head gunsmith, if he could install them, in front me. His response, "ugh, I guess so." So I spent a a $147 for the sights, and then another another $21 for the install. I could have gone anywhere else, purchased them there and had them installed for free. As I've done previously. But considering the times, covid, unemployment rates..."support small business." Today, I spent roughly $220 at Athena, and left with a very bitter experience. Very disappointed with the customer service today. read more
