We had a great time on their Sunday morning sail. The boat is really cool to be on, and the staff was cheery and made sure everyone had a good time. It was fun to watch them raise the sails. Their naturalist (Taylor was his name I think) gave us an excellent commentary during the tour, and answered all our questions. There were free pastries and muffins on board, and coffee for $5 as well as other beverages. All in all, a great morning and we hope to return for another trip. read more

Our work group had an awesome afternoon with Captain Paul and his crew! We took about two hours and went all around the Bay, past Alcatraz, to the piers, along the coast... all the while the crew pointing out points of interest including other sailing outfits. They were very knowledgable about all. They served a lovely spread with excellent California wines and appetizers and even included homemade clam chowder in a branded mug we could keep. Now I love boats, but I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy the views and beautiful weather of San Francisco. I decided to book a birthday celebration boat cruise for myself and 11 friends. Wow--what a great trip to do! Our boat (Cimba) held 12 total people and I decided to do the 4 hour boat trip. We had gorgeous weather on Sept 23rd. We got to see the golden gate bridge, bay bridge, AT&T park, pier 39, treasure island, and angel island. We brought our own sandwiches on board and drinks. There was one table inside with seating around it to where you can eat at. An ice chest and trash can was already provided on board which was nice and convenient. Our captain Bosco was very nice and knowledgeable. Also shout out to Justin Ketzler for helping me plan the trip and answering my questions promptly. I scheduled the Freda B as a birthday gift for my wife. They canceled it two days before the event. DO NOT count on this company to provide service for a gift. They are not reliable, they stated the reason they canceled was due to weather. The weather on the day they were to sail was 68 degrees and clear! Never again!! read more

WAY TOO MUCH FUN! Is there such a thing? We rented the Freda B sailboat last Saturday afternoon for a friend's 30th birthday and had an absolute blast. From the moment we hit the Pier/dock we knew it would be fun. The deck hand was awaiting us and could tell our crowd would be raucous, so he gave us instructions totally fitting for our group. Our skippers and Captain were amazing, providing just the right amount of "rules" and fun. We had a group of about 40, and were able to bring food and drink aboard for the afternoon on the bay. Despite a blustery day at sea, the Freda B was an awesome spot to hold a 30th birthday. The space was perfect, with rooms downstairs to store food and drinks or get away from the wind if you need to (though it is a bit rougher beneath the deck). If you can get enough people to RSVP in advance, I think the day can be pretty affordable overall. Dress in layers and bring a good attitude and I guarantee you'll have an awesome day on the Bay. I do not think I will ever book anything with this place again, they have such poor customer service. I seriously bought 2 vouchers from living social a year ago and I never got to use it. First, I bought these vouchers in october 5th in 2011. I tried to book a day to go on their sunset sail on a friday because its only on Fridays, but it said they were booked until March or 2012. So that was already a bust. Then, after a few times of trying to book again they were still not available so I just waited and then it was October again.. living social sent me an email saying that the vouchers will be expiring soon. I check back to SF bay adventures again and they were still booked until after my expiration date. So I emailed this lady named Marina I think it was. At first she replied quickly and said she will be more than happy to get me on a cruise, I replied and she ignored my emails. I sent her two more and she then responds.. "what day would I like to go?" And I told her the 12th is fine even though it was expired by then, but she said it was fine. I sent her a few more emails after that and never heard back from her again. Finally, I got tired of going back and forth with this, i didn't really care about getting the money back anymore at this point, it was something I wanted to do for our anniversary and yet another anniversary later, I still didn't get to use it. What a shame. I contacted living social telling them about this problem and they credited me back Money to my account. Thanks to them, I didn't have to bother with SF bay adventures again. Nor will I ever have to or want to. Two moments killed by you guys.. two!!! Hard to count on people working here, I will take my money elsewhere to spend for a good time. And if you guys want to make customers happy, stick to what you're supposed to do.. serve customers! -4 stars for crappy customer service!! read more

My boyfriend and I had a great time on a Saturday morning Local-History and Bay-Wildlife Sailing Tour. We got the Groupon deal and had no problems using our vouchers and signing up for our preferred day on their website. We got to the dock early and dressed warmly (it was quite cold as expected). Paid parking is available right next to the dock. The crew was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting Bay Area history and wildlife info that even long-time locals will enjoy. Went out to watch a Giants Game on the Freda B, and had such a great time!!!! The boat was beautiful and the ride was sooo smooth, the crew were all super friendly and took good care of us with beer and snacks! They also had blankets and extra coats in case anyone got cold. We decided to try the Saturday morning (8:15 departure) yesterday just to see what it would be like. At worst we'd get a nice couple of hours on the Bay, but it turned out to be much, much better than that! The captain was very knowledgeable about the history of the back, why some things were built, what happened in the earthquakes of 1906 and 1989, who the big players were (and are) and kept up a steady flow of fascinating information for almost all of the trip. The crew was very friendly and professional, the coffee outstanding, and the breakfast pastries tasty. Add to that an interesting group of fellow adventurers and great weather and you can't go wrong. Woke up early to be certain to be on time for deperture from Sausalito on the schooner Freda B. What a fantastic sail on the bay all along the Sausalito waterfront where we got a marvelous history of many of the homes and restaurants. Sailed out under the Golden Gate Bridge and some of us spotted a whale...I spotted a blow. All 3 sails blowing in the wind on a spectacular sunny day on the bay with friends . What a memory. I went sailing yesterday for the very first time. It was fantastic! The crew was very experienced sailors and extremely friendly beginning with boarding process all the way to the time we left the boat. We set sail out of Sausalito and headed toward SF. There were amazing views of Sausalito, Angel Island, Tiburon, the Golden Gate bridge and of course San Francisco. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect and I was visualizing those little boats that you see tipping over in the water.....No worries there because the Freda B is a large boat and very stable. The ride was very smooth and glided on the water. A few splashes of water over the bow was unexpected but fun! I'm a girlie girl so I worried what I should wear, but really anything you're comfortable in wearing would be fine... Probably flat shoes would be better and layers of clothes because it does get chilly out on the water. The crew offered blankets for those who might be a bit cold. I was fine with a wind breaker over my clothes. The crew was very friendly and made you feel welcomed aboard the boat. They were very professional explaining all the safety procedures and invited the guests to participate if the wanted. A few tooked them up on the steering part, but the crew handled all the lifting of the sails... Looked fun though! I especially like the history part of the boat, where it was made, sailed, and how it made it's way from St. Augustine, Florida to San Francisco. It's a must adventure if you live or are visiting the SF Bay area. I can't wait to go again. read more

We went out to the Giants game Tuesday night and had a great time. The captain and his deckhands were all great guys. Extremely helpful in every possible way. The TV's were set up below deck and above so we could watch the game while sitting in the water right outside the stadium. The fans in the stadium would cheer with us and wave, the entire atmosphere was great. Today I treated my friend Nancy to a "Local History and SF Bay Wildlife Sail" on the Freda B. Nancy is visiting from Southern California. This cruise was SO interesting, and the scenery, amazing. Captain Paul, Tyler (the Naturalist), and the entire crew were the best! I have been on MANY sailing excursions on the bay, and this was the far superior. Very classy, very clean, and extremely safe. I am truly inspired to learn how to sail, it was that fun. I am a native and whenever I feel like getting out on the water (which is very often), I will be returning to the Freda B without question. The wife and I experienced the Sunday morning Eco trip and it was amazing!! A bit chilly but they do tell you to layer up. Easy to find at the marina and a really great learning experience and an even better sailing experience. The staff were all very professional and they made the trip the best you can find in SF! You MUST try this if you love the sea. We watched whales, sea lions, Dolphins and many birds. Learned so much about the bay. I will for sure do the sunset cruise now!! My friend and I had a groupon for the sunset sail a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be a nice way to spend the evening but it was so much more. We sailed on the Fred B, an 80 foot classic schooner. It was absolutely lovely to set sail on the bay by the Golden Gate Bridge as the sun was setting. San Francisco came alive in the darkening night. And we got to see the light show on the Bay Bridge. It became quite chilly once the sun went down but there were blankets and hot drinks and fresh made clam chowder from the Seafood Peddler, a local gem of a fish restaurant in Sausalito. The chowder was hot and delicious. The crew was relaxed and friendly. It felt like they were taking a group of their friends out for an evening sail. I love being on the water and this was special. It was so leisurely to be sailing on a ship with tall sails through the beautiful San Francisco Bay. Time stood still and the two hours felt like a short vacation to another world where all that mattered was an endless stretch of time to absorb all the beauty around us. read more
