Five family members gathered in Sausalito to bid our final farewells to my brother Lanny. His son (my nephew) and I researched the services available for this need, and we feel very lucky to have found Captain Kirk's. Every detail was handled with utmost care and sensitivity. Our captain, Rowan, was personable and pleasant, and gave us space to say goodbye as we needed. I know Captain Kirk's couldn't control the weather, but if they did, it couldn't have been a better day. Beautiful sunshine, the water was sparkling, and our loved one had the send-off he wanted. Outstanding experience!!! I would give 100 stars if I could. We used them for scattering my dad's ashes (he was a big time sailor) and they were phenomenal. Our captain, Mark and first mate, Ruby, checked in as we sailed out to see if we wanted to try to go under the Golden Gate Bridge as the weather started a bit rough. But we did and it was magical! We hired the company based on Yelp reviews, and were very satisfied with the experience from the first step to the sailing and crew. Sue replied quickly, answered all of our questions and set up the trip. Instructions were easy to follow and Captain Efe and his assistant Zoe kept us on track, expertly guided us through the process of what to expect while onboard, and helped us prepare for the scattering of ashes. Besides the items we brought with us, the 50 foot Bay Wolf had supplies such as hand sanitizer and ginger at the ready. We had a smooth trip out to the Golden Gate Bridge, and found a calm area within site of Kirby Cove to say goodbye to our parents. Had the absolute best time with Captain Efe and Fiona. Took visiting family members sight-seeing and there is no better way to see San Francisco. Got a view of the Golden Gate bridge going underneath, sweeping views of the SF coastline, Angel island, Alcatraz. The sky and waters were beautiful. We ended up with a heap of gorgeous photos. This was my second time with Captain Kirk previous trip was a romantic birthday sail also just wonderful. Captain Efe was knowledgeable, fun to talk to, also so gracious and accommodating. The scheduling and service was also a first-class experience. I actually had to reschedule due to guests falling sick previously. Captain Efe helped us when we left something onboard. I am a little afraid of the water and he sailed the boat so well, even I was relaxed and enjoyed the bay views while we honored my MIL. Captain Kirk's helped me with the ash burial of my mother, which I had faced with trepidation. Sue in the front office was hardworking and kind. The captain of the boat, Rowan, made a difficult experience better. He used his phone and speaker to play the music she had wanted for her funeral. She had also wished to be in the Pacific and have peonies be part of her ceremony. He chose a cove near the Golden Gate Bridge, where the waters of San Francisco Bay mix with those of the Pacific. The currents would take her out to the Pacific, where she hoped to be, recalling her young womanhood in Santa Monica. I didn't want to scatter her ashes--having to lose one more thing of hers, and I also wanted to avoid the risk of the ashes blowing back on us--so I bought a biodegradable container. Rowan offered to set it in the water for me, along with the peonies. I watched it until it sank. Rowan circled the boat long enough to allow me to see it until I was comfortable with leaving. Captain Kirk's Group was fantastic from start to finish. I went into this experience very blind as I had never chartered a boat before and I wanted to surprise my husband for his Birthday. The team was the fastest too respond to me first off. Sue was amazingly helpful with all my booking question and needs. Also, due to an airline outages I was afraid the birthday boy wasn't going to make it, Sue was super understanding and offered to rebook if we needed, luckily we did not and went as scheduled but it made me have more trust in their team that they offered. Captain Efe and Brenden were awesome! They kept everyone safe and made sure we had fun. I believe everyone in our party ended up having a conversation with them while on the boat. They made sure the fun times didn't stop and took us all around the bay and made sure we had the best view for the sunset and the moon rise. Cant thank them enough for an unforgettable trip! We had an incredible time sailing around the SF bay with the Captain Kirk's crew. They were incredibly communicative and easy to book with and our sailing experience was 10/10 for a team building exercise. Celebrating my friend Dave's birthday on the bay. In a 50 foot yacht and a nice three hour tour. It was a little windy and choppy but the boat was handled so well I enjoyed every minute of it. Starting with the communication at the very beginning of the scheduling, Sue was great. Prompand helpful. We went out yesterday with Efe and Ruby. They were a very talented and charming duo who made the experience so nice! There were 12 of us on the boat. We all wore life vests. We brought food and beverages for a picnic on the bay. We went by Alcatraz, around Angel Island, and said hello to Tiburon and Sausalito as we headed to the GG Bridge before heading back. It was a gorgeous day! We saw a porpoise, plenty of cormorants, seagulls, and pelicans, all while enjoying the scenery and conversations. I got a little sick, and they were so quick to help me get past the nausea. We went sailing on the Osprey in June with Captain Efe and Joni with a group of 15 people for a birthday. We all had a fantastic time and the smoothest sail ever. We absolutely loved our crew-Captain Efe was knowledgeable yet laidback and Joni was so genuinely sweet and kind. They both checked in frequently and worked hard to to personalize our sailing trip and experience. Joni was wonderful at making sure that we we had everything we needed-she brought up a cooler with all our drinks for easy access and brought up our food and blankets for everyone. Currently they allow BYO booze(white wine, champagne, beers only) and food, which allowed us to save a ton of money. They also offer catering options too. We live near Mission Bay/Soma and loved being able to leave from Pier 40/South Beach harbor instead of having to go to down to Pier 39/Fisherman's wharf, although there is a docking fee for SF. The website was informative and easy to navigate. Planning the trip was a breeze with Sue, who was extremely responsive and prompt via email and phone. I looked into several sailing/catamaran/boat rental companies in SF and this was the best option in terms of quality, experience, flexibility and pricing. We would definitely love to return and sail with Captain Kirk Sailing again! read more

Beautiful day spent on the bay with Captain Efe and Ruby. Nice people and helpful with my aging mom. We did the Friday afternoon 3 hour trip which was the perfect amount of time. It was sunny and in 60s but jackets and coats still necessary. It gets chilly and windy. Boat had 2 big steps that are bolted to the dock so you can step over the edge onto the seating area and then down which is a big step. Keep that in mind for anyone with mobility issues. They did offer help which was nice. We started out in Sausalito, out past the Golden Gate, back around along San Francisco to Pier 39, got a good but not super close view of Bay bridge, close up of Alcatraz and Belvedere then back to Sausalito. read more

Captain Kirk's SF Sailing easily receives 5 stars. Booking is easy ~ Sue is the nicest and makes the booking process as seamless as possible. The day that my group and I sailed, there was already a smaller party booking at a different location. In order to accommodate our party, they arranged an upgrade for the smaller party and at our location earlier in the day (bless the other group for being flexible!). From the beginning of the trip where we met up at the Pier until the very end when we departed the Osprey boat, Captain Kirk and his crew were super friendly and fun! Safety is also Captain Kirk's number one priority, so we all felt comfortable under his hands. As for the actual boating portion, it was amazing! The SF Bay was warm when we first boarded, but as we approached the Golden Gate Bridge, the windier it was. Luckily, we did catch some wind and were able to sail, with some of our group even taking the helm and driving the sailboat at times. We brought drinks and snacks for our 3 hour trip, and the foods were beautifully plated and served by the crew! What a wonderful surprise. Overall, it was a lovely trip with even more fantastic service. If I were in need of a private boat in the future, I would not hesitate to choose Captain Kirk's San Francisco Sailing. read more

Pretty epic! The most perfect way to ring in a new decade amongst great friends. I was looking to check off another item on my "bucket list" and sailing on the Bay on the Bay Wolf was one of them. Contacting Captain Kirk to learn more about the experiences they offer was straightforward and easy. I immediately secured and locked in a date roughly three months prior to the event. I highly recommend booking as far in advance as possible. Pre-event communication was great with email updates with all the necessary what to expect and need to know information. We brought our own small snacks and canned beverages on board that worked great. No need to bring a ton of stuff with you, plus it makes it easier on the crew to store things under the deck. Our three hour adventure began in Sausalito and out towards the Golden Gate Bridge and underneath it. Our group saw so many dolphins and sea lions. After exploring the West side of the bridge, headed back towards Alcatraz and the sunny back side of Angel Island. We elected for the 11am-2pm timeframe which was the right recommended choice. Less boat traffic on the water and the rays of the sun are the perfect temperature. Captain Kirk donates 10% of all of their net revenues to support several non-profits.  A portion of our trip went to Guide Dogs for the Blind.
