Where to start... Not all physicians, medical, mental health or otherwise are created equally. Jeremi truly is one of the best at what he does. When my partner and I were in crisis mode almost 1.5 years ago, both as individuals and especially as a unit, we didn't know where to turn. My partner called a bunch of professionals for couples counseling. Only a few responded. Jeremi was one of them. Now, I have to admit. Coming to the conclusion that I was a straight male, that is just discovering that he's ENM/Poly, was a bit terrifying. I knew the judgements that would be thrown my way, the comments and the looks from society. I was hesitant at the very least when getting a therapist, as even they can feel and act biased based on beliefs. After one call with Jeremi, we cancelled the other potential "suitors." I found out about SF Relationship Coaching from a friend of mine who had met Jeremi some years back and had had some success from just talking with Jeremi informally about his lack-of-good-available-women dilemma. I had finished up a looooong relationship about a year before working with Jeremi. I was nervous about reaching out to a relationship coach. The entire notion of paying someone to tell me how to handle myself differently in front of others seemed a bit strange - especially as I consider myself to be a relatively personable and attractive guy. However, what drove me to seeking out Jeremi was a desire to improve my interactions with others, romantically, platonically, and professionally. From the first phone call it was clear that Jeremi really "got me." Almost immediately he was asking questions that got to the heart of what my issues are. Exploring topics from my cultural upbringing to my life today, there were many times when I would say, "I never thought about that, but it's really true." From a dating standpoint, Jeremi talked a lot about my "personal toolset." This is not a pick-up artist's attempt to craft me into something that I am not (i.e. The Game), but rather a way to take my authentic self and hone the skills/traits that are innate in me and use them to my advantage. However, while we set out with the goal of helping my romantic life, I soon learned that the same lessons could be applied to my work and professional life (i.e. how to handle conflict with roommates, showing strength in work interactions, etc). Definitely an unintended surprise but these are lessons that make me a better friend, family member, and colleague. This is not a quick fix. I had the pleasure of attending Jeremi's Better Relationship group back in 2011. It was a well run, intimate group of good quality people. The group met for 8 weeks (2 hours sessions) in a comfortable studio right off the Mission in SF. The price was quite affordable considering 16 hours of total time. I tend toward the introverted side so I'm often caught up in my own thoughts. It was really great to get out of my head and share in the inner experience of others. We covered the gammut of relationships - from reconciling long term relationships, to aftermath of a break up, to dating and finding new love. We also discussed work dynamics and relationships such as feeling excluded in meetings or bullied by a co-worker or the guilt of being on a project that succeeds while your co-worker's project fails. It was interesting to hear other people's personal thoughts on these kinds of interactions. A lot of the time I realized that they reacted to things in much the same way I did and as I result I felt more in touch with them and people in general. Some of the times the person's experiences differed from mine and that was interesting too to see how our earlier experences shape our reactions today. Another part of the group I really enjoyed was being able to give feedback to the other members. There were a couple of times someone shared a problem and I tentatively offered feedback - I was the young one in the group and wasn't sure what I offered would be helpful - it turned out to be very helpful and the person even refered back to what I said in a subsequent meeting. Finally, it was really great for me to be able to share my thoughts and feelings in a friendly, supportive environment. This kind of disclosure does not come easily to me but in that group it wasn't so difficult. I got some great feedback from the group that I carried with me to the outside world. All in all, Jeremi created a great group environment where we all felt safe to express ourselves, ask questions and give feedback. He was very respectful of our different opinions and let us share as much as we wanted while somehow also making sure we also all got a chance to speak. I highly recommend this group! read more
