I'm an engineer by trade and cant help apply those skills to every project I start…read more I thoroughly appreciated working with Tyler through every step. He was articulate explaining the displacement, likely root causes, prevention and mitigation steps, repair options, and the pros/cons of each approach. During the walkthrough he discussed the areas of concerns and created a visual diagram of the forces interacting on the basement walls, how its displacing the wall, and how it will be repaired. The quote contained all these areas with the total cost of repair + the project plan to resolve it. How many straps, their locations, mortar joints that will be replaced, and a 5 foot section of basement slab that needed removed to clear out the flush ports underneath and replace with new concrete. What I appreciated the most was Tyler's engineering approach. Root cause, resolution, and cost. He identified a couple areas not pointed out by other contractors that required addressing and his quote was still in line despite the additional work. And I never got the impression he tried to create work for a higher invoice. I 100% would hire Tyler and Basement Remedy if I ever purchase another house with basement issues again.

We also needed a precisely dug hole in which to bury a new LP gas storage tank. We found everything we needed at Basement Remedy! Tyler, Todd and their friendly crew, diagnosed our issues, discussed our options, gave us a free estimate; and when we hired them, they quickly delivered the results we needed at a price we could afford. They are great communicators with hands-on ownership. It was a wonderful experience! Five stars. Ask them to quote your job too, you won't be disappointed.

I rarely give five star reviews because I rarely have good experiences with service workers - let alone great experiences. However, JB Foundations earned all 5 stars. And honestly, it's not that hard - just very few companies will do the basic things that make customers happy. It started recently with a couple days of hard rain. We live in an elevated area where our driveway slopes up and our house and foundation is higher than the street. As a result, we have never had any issues with water in the basement and rarely give it a thought. The only problem we had was the pipe leading up and out of the basement had a loose connection and I was able to tightened it up. But with this most recent rain, the sump pump started acting differently. It was still seemingly working but making an incredible noise. I had just had new flooring put in on the first floor (I'll be writing that review next) and noise carries much more within the house. At first I chalked the louder sump pump up to that. But the more I had to listen to it while working from home, I realized something was wrong. The second day, I started putting feelers out. Messaging 3 companies on their websites asking if they did this work on sump pumps and in our area. NONE RESPONDED. I hate using the phone so electronic communication is my preference. THe next morning, the pump was quieter but ran non-stop for hours - despite there not being hardly any water in the tank and it also had not really rained for a while. This time I turned to Yelp (which is where I got the names and reviews of the 3 companies I reached out to via their websites). I picked one and sent a message just like I did before. I also took the option to ask a couple more companies to respond. Almost immediately, JB Foundations responded and expressed ability and interest in doing the work. We exchanged messages via Yelp and soon I had an appointment, as well as an estimate should the pump need replacing. The appointment window was only 2 hours and they were able to come the next day. Considering we had yet to take any water in the basement, I was feeling very lucky (which is rare). Jay showed up during the 2 hour window and went to work. He showed me how the pump can be tested by bypassing the floater. The pump was still working and apparently able to push water to the street. Regardless, given the 26 years it had been working - I opted to have it replaced. Jay had a new pump with him and installed it in maybe 15 minutes. He asked for a garbage bag to carry the old pump out in as it was crusted in rust and mud. He had also pulled out a few other misc. items (paper, soda can, rocks) from the hole and transported it all way without messing up the floor. Jay educated me about the back-flow valve/connector - which was apparently what had come apart before. He had replaced it at no extra charge. I always appreciate a service person taking the time to explain things to me so I better understand how the things in our house work. Jay did so without making me feel spoken down to or stupid. I don't know what else I can share if you're not convinced yet to include this company in your search when needing any work done in your basement/foundation. I highly recommend giving them a shot.

He explained well how the process would unfold and was proactive about being open to any questions. They arrived the originally scheduled day and although there was a delay due to some pretty extreme weather causing traffic idiocy, I was notified about that delay. They worked hard until the job was complete. Every indication so far is that the job - a crawlspace drainage/sump - was successful, considering there has been another very hard rain since and no more basement leakage.

The painters noticed some mold and water damage near a few of the walls. I called Ohio Basement Authority and Jordan came out the next day. Having a finished basement makes figuring out if there is water coming in tough, but he walked me through the possibilities, and how we could remedy each one. Not being used to having a basement (I historically lived in *much* drier climates!), I really appreciated the thoughtfulness and attention to detail that he showed in walking me through the different situations. I decided to go with the interior waterproofing. I was scheduled to have my new flooring installed a day later, so the speediness that Jordan came out literally saved me thousands of dollars (and the time of having another floor installed!). Thanks OBA!

It took 3 crews and 5 days. On day 1 they jackhammered the perimeter and laid half the drain tile and left at 2:00 for a family emergency. I checked the progress and found that the weep holes that were supposed to be drilled on every block had not been drilled at all. Day 2, no show. Day 3 crew 2 (different people), they removed the previous laid tile to drill the weep holes Day 4, no show Day 5, crew 3 (different people) they finished the job The worst part of it all is that the plastic barrier hung to keep the cement dust from an adjacent room had fallen, and they did not bother to put it back up. The entire room and all It contained were covered with a thick coat of cement dust. Everything must be wiped off, and all the shelving must be taken outside and hosed off costing thousands of dollars. After hiring a 3rd party to clean up the mess, the reimbursement was slow and was only a fraction of the estimate.

It has now stretched past 4 months, with ongoing delays, damage, and no real accountability. The issues started before the job even began. The salesman was pushy and aggressive, asking "how much money do you have today for repairs?" almost immediately. He also pushed hard to start the project right away--in the middle of winter--during the coldest and wettest time of year. That decision clearly set the tone for everything that followed. The work itself has been careless: Trash and personal items (energy drink cans and a hoodie) left in our side yard Crawlspace door left open for days, risking animals getting in Crawlspace light left on for multiple nights They also caused significant damage: Broke our water line twice Destroyed our fiber optic internet line, which still hasn't been properly resolved The job site has been a constant disruption: A backhoe sat in our yard for over a month Another has been left in the street for weeks, limiting traffic On two separate occasions, the site manager wasn't even aware that their crew had left heavy, expensive equipment behind Our neighbors are just as fed up as we are. The most frustrating part is the communication. Instead of fixing problems, they rely on excuses and empty reassurances. There's always another explanation--but no real progress. At this point, we are exploring legal options and will be hiring another company to complete the work. This has been stressful, costly, and completely avoidMy family and I had an absolutely terrible experience with this company, and I cannot recommend them for any type of project. We had 10 foundation piers and a stability beam installed in December. What should have been a relatively straightforward project dragged on until late April before it was finally considered "completed." Even now, we're still dealing with the aftermath and trying to restore our yard and property. We were repeatedly promised that everything would be returned to the condition outlined during the sales process, but that never happened. I'm still scratching my head over why they purchased 20 bags of topsoil for the project and never used a single one during the restoration. At this point, I've had to hire other professionals to complete repairs and correct issues that should have been handled by this company from the beginning. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is management and leadership. The company has plenty of technology and systems, but basic communication seems nonexistent. Throughout the project, it often felt like nobody knew what anyone else was doing, what work had been completed, or what still needed attention. Crews, supervisors, and office staff frequently appeared out of sync. That's not a field employee problem--it's a leadership problem. The sales process wasn't much better. The inspector/salesman came across more like a used car salesman than a foundation expert. If you're told the inspection is free and will take about 90 minutes, be prepared for something very different. Ours lasted over four hours and eventually resulted in a $45,000 project. After everything we've gone through, I still question whether our foundation is actually in better condition than when we started. I've even consulted independent general contractors to get additional opinions. What frustrates me most is the lack of attention to detail and quality control. The company damaged far more than it repaired. Work wasn't consistently checked, unfinished items were overlooked, and basic responsibilities seemed to be ignored. Tools and trash were left behind, gates were left open, lights were left on, and equipment wasn't always disconnected or put away properly at the end of the day. Let's also talk about the damage that occurred during the project. The crew broke our water line twice and severed our fiber optic internet cable, despite both utilities being marked beforehand. The Frontier technician who came out to repair the line was shocked by where the damage occurred, noting that the cable had been cut before it even entered the ground. What should have been a professional foundation repair project turned into months of frustration, delays, property damage, additional expenses, and countless headaches. I have photos and videos documenting much of what happened, but the overall experience speaks for itself. My advice is simple: get multiple estimates, do your research, and seriously consider other companies before signing a contract. This project became one of the most stressful home improvement experiences my family has ever dealt with. Looking back, I wish we had chosen someone else.able. I strongly recommend going with a company that is actually organized, accountable, and professional.
