In late October, 2025, I contacted SGL Moving Service about packing and loading services for a move I was planning. On October 27, 2025, I paid a deposit of $105 to Richard Bourgos. On November 19, my wife was diagnosed with a serious illness that forced us to cancel the move. I immediately contacted Mr. Bourgos, explained my change of plans and the reason, and asked for a refund of my deposit. The work was not scheduled to be performed until December 8 and 9, so I was giving SGL almost three weeks notice that I needed to cancel. Their office is only a few miles from my residence. After sending several very professional text messages to Mr. Bourgos asking for a refund of my deposit, on December 3, 14 days after I first explained my problem and asked for a refund, he finally informed me that he would not issue a refund. Under the circumstances, I was quite surprised. Was Mr. Bourgos decision the result of greed? Is the company short on funds? Hubris? Would a reputable company have kept my money? Decide for yourself. What I do know is I would never do business with them again. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I've had a LOT of moves in my day. Most aren't very memorable or if they are it's not a pleasant experience or even worse, it's a no show... what I'm sure a lot of others have also unfortunately dealt with. This IS NOT one of those companies. Family ran, hard working, respectful, personable, communicative prior to arriving. I'd hire them tomorrow again if I had to. Couldn't not recommend them more. read more

sgl movers* stay away*well just say, dont give a deposit --and then 7-8 days before the move ,,we called 4-5 time to ask ????/s about the move & with texting, before the move and no return calls,-7-8 days **no communication** what company,after giving a deposit to does this ,, never got deposit back,,thats ok,, wish ricky the best--good luck-- -i would not trust any one that does not call back in 7-8 days ***** found an other mover company *****in 2 days a great moving company that was over the top and**professional -on time-communiction was the best- moving with no damage- men where great*** gave a big tip* read more

Do not hire this company. They showed up 1 hour and 45 minutes late. Worked for one hour and then the owner Ricky stated his asthma was too bad and he needed to drive the truck that was halfway full of my stuff to his place to "swap out another worker" Ricky's words. They were gone for another hour and 45 minutes. When they finally came back things in the back of the truck were broken from not being properly secured and driving the truck half full. At this point I just wanted to get done because it was so late in the day, so I started loading stuff in my SUV. We finally got to my new place and it took forever to get unloaded. I got in the truck and started carrying stuff upstairs myself. When they finally got done I was presented a text with my balance due. I asked to call Ricky and when he got on the phone I stated that the total due should be different because of the lost time and all of the issues Ricky was having. He stated it was a fair price and that he was allergic to cats and that was the problem with his asthma. In my opinion he SHOULD NOT have taken the job or stated he was allergic to cats and I would have hired someone else. I felt taken advantage of and forced to pay the total. He should have done SOMETHING to compensate me for the wasted 1 hour and 45 minutes I stood around waiting for them to come back. Ricky even had the nerve to text me thanking me for tipping his workers and that "everything always tends to work out. Maybe not over night, but eventually it does" again Ricky's words. read more

This was my second time using SGL Moving Service and I have to give them "5 Stars" !! Owner/Manager Ricky Burgos and his guys do a TOP KNOTCH job, they are so thorough, efficient, reliable and professional they make it look easy. And moving is NEVER eAsy!! Nice, polite, hard working fellows, that's what you want when your personal belongings are getting handled. Don't mess around with the big companies e.g. MISC rates Box rates, what floor are you on rate, distance rate . just call these guys and it will be quick and easy. And probably cheaper. SGL Moving is a service that provides a unique quality of work for each of our customers. Every move is equipped with perfection. Doing what we must to make our customers happy is the only thing we focus on. The two main additional services that we provide to better our performance is Wrapping and Disassembly of furniture. Wrapping comes with plastic wrap, tape, and furniture pads. It is a must to wrap any TV's, glass, picture frames. Even though we prefer to wrap every and any item, we leave it up to the customer to direct us with what they'd prefer to have protected, if not all! Sometimes, the only way to remove a piece of furniture from a location is to carefully have it taken apart. But the most important part of all is to put it back together. Not only reassembling the item, but to have it done, correctly. Putting every screw back in its place. Making sure it is assemble to stay nice and sturdy until your next move!

Established in 2006. SGL Moving started off like any other company. Learning from others, correcting our mistakes and improving on them so that we can run a successful business. This has always been the key in success for everything. Over the years we have learned that customers need not just an affordable rate, but a rate in which provides a great deal of extras. The rate is the rate. We leave everything up to the customers if we deserve more.

Meet the Business Owner: Ricky B.

Growing up in Hoboken New Jersey helped me obtain the idea of starting a moving service. After working for a local moving company in my younger days, I felt like my boss never gave us enough credit. At first, the younger ones like myself were used on jobs that had a massive amount of stairs. We were only meant to do small items such as boxes and miscellaneous stuff. I could not let my potential stop on something so simply. I wanted to do more and prove that I was better then his most experience workers. As more jobs went on, I was called on completing more then just jobs that included stairs. I became one of the top guys. Going on my second summer. Still not getting paid much, I decided to venture off. At first, it wasn't much. But knowing I had something to call my own was enough to keep me going. And here I am, 9 years later with my own fleet of workers, trained by me. Now that's something to be proud of. I hope that you will see our success in motion with your very own eyes.

Well after another year we needed to move from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom in the SAME apartment complex. So my wife and I being probably too nice of people said the guys were really good and we can't control the crappy management let's give them another chance. 2 more guys showed up. Went straight to work. Worked hard. I was keeping a close eye on them but obviously can't watch everything. Load up and drive 30 seconds over to the new building and they start unloading. Well they ended up breaking a nightstand, bed frame and stained the side of our couch. My wife ended up cleaning the side of the couch herself. We got a new nightstand and our bed frame is still cracked but holding up. The guys felt bad again and apologized but at this point my wife and I were just over it. No point to file a claim. We'd be lucky to get probably 20$. Stay away guys. Pay the extra 50-100$ and go with a quality company who cares about your stuff. We definitely will next time. We tried to save some money and it cost us in the end. Don't make the same mistake me made TWICE. My wife and I understand that you have to run a business and we weren't looking for 900$, but 70$ and half hearted apology is unacceptable.

What a great moving company. Professional as can be, nice, caring, and extremely efficient. When the owner Ricky arrived, I asked him for an estimated amount of time to do a very big move. His response let me know that I might be able to manage the budget. I asked him to work as quickly as possible, and he made my budget. Moving is never fun, always stressful, but SGL Moving Services took a lot of the stress off me. And then, I acutally didn't have the funds in my bank, and my check to him bounced! Was he livid? Nope. He let me know he understood times can be tough, and he was patient for the next few days until I did have funds in the bank to pay him. This is not normal, and don't hire him on this premise. I just wanted to share how amazing he was in this particular instance. I highly recommend SGL Moving Services to anyone ready to move, no matter the size of your place. I had some movers cancel on me. I called Ricky and he showed up after they finished a move that they had in the morning. Ricky and Ryan did an amazing job. It was truly a blessing in disguise. I do not remember what size truck they brought but it was a lot bigger then what we needed. Since it was a last minute move, they told me it was what they were working with that morning and came straight to my place right after. It did not bother me, however, I did not want my things to be thrown around. Ricky and Ryan used their straps which kept everything from so much safer. I hired this company to help my mother unload her POD in Naples, FL, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. These guys did an amazing job for us. Their rate included a truck with all the necessary equipment. And when they say free wrapping and assembly, they mean it. After speaking with Ricky he gave me two options. Either they can provide the truck or I can. My move was a bit of a drive so I decided that they will provide the truck.They did arrive about 20 minutes late, but they made it up once they got to work. The move went extremely smooth. I was worried about getting so many heavy items down a flight of stairs and through a narrow door but they handled it all very professionally. Bobby and Jeffrey, even though I knew they were exhausted, took the time to really put things where I wanted them, and helped me get a little bit sorted so I can live in the new place. I can't stress enough how much that helped me! I have a couple of physical issues, and I was pretty much done half-way through, but they just took care of it all, and now I can at least get ready for work in the morning. He was able to accommodate us on a very short notice. Packed everything up with 3 great guys and on truck same day. Price was very reasonable for all he did. Mike was responsive, courteous, and very professional by phone. Never met him in person. Gave us a…read morefair price for moving a three-piece living room furniture set. The two men he had assigned to move the furniture were very friendly and polite, but not very professional in the sense that they asked the homeowner that we purchased the sofa set from to use their bathroom and asked them for some water. One also asked to use our bathroom upon delivery. It's my opinion that they should have their own water and should have used their facilities before they left or stopped to use the facilities somewhere before they picked up the order and/or stopped before delivery. Although they were 15 min late for the appointment time already, so maybe that's why they did not want to stop on the way, but that's still no excuse to ask to use a homeowners bathroom in my opinion. They did do a wonderful job of protecting the furniture by wrapping it with moving blankets and plastic. They also did a wonderful job of setting up our furniture in our home. For the delivery, Mike also had given his team the wrong delivery address for our home, missed a digit, so it took longer for them to get here. Since they charge by the hour, that isn't a good thing, although I'm sure it was an honest mistake. They did adjust their hourly rate by an extra 15 minutes, so that probably made up for any additional expense that it would've made. We just had to wait a little longer for our delivery than anticipated. Not a huge difference for us, but might be critical to someone else.
