FALLING OFF! My window shades work: They substantially and consistently reduced my cooling costs, but after five (years), the window shades have started falling off (I find them on the ground after the fact) with many others just holding on by a shred. At a cost of over $1,100, I expected better durability. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CLIMB LADDERS TO RE-DO THEIR WORK. I purchased Shade Shield screens five years ago. All was fine until they started falling down after three years. It was very common to walk out in the morning and see them splayed across my bushes. Solar Shield used Velcro to attach them to the window frame. After a few years in San Antonio sun, the velcro fails, and so do the shades. Unfortunately so did Solar Shade service. I have called them multiple times over the past six weeks and literally cannot get them answer the phone or return a message. One time, they did return a message and stated they would contact a technician and have them call me. Well, no calls have been received, and no response from Solar Shield to messages requesting someone contact me. Very poor customer service. I decided to move on from Solar Shield and called another company. This company actually answers the phone, and is quite responsive to requests for service. I am purchasing replacement screens from the new company. They actually use4 screws to fasten screens to the frame. read more

Appointment for inspection didn't take any time at all, and neither did the installation. The "longest" part was just waiting for them to put my measurements into production. We have done business with Shade Shield a few times and have been very happy with what they've done. We had them install solar screens in the front of our house, insulation on the garage door and most recently screen enclosure for our patio. The work they did for the patio screen is great. They use Structal aluminum powder coated framing, great product. They did so well on a home I just sold I have them installing at my new home this week. This company does a great job! We have used this company before on our previous home and they did a remarkable job then too. We are very excited to start saving some money on our electric bill because it saved us us 40-50 dollars a month on our previous home. Very disappointing with this company, was promised that the screens would be ready within three weeks and after four weeks my wife called to check on it and that they did not know what the problem was and they would get back with her waited another week called again and they had missed placed the order and that they would get it out right away waited two more weeks called again and was finally told that the screens were ready but they needed to try to get it scheduled. At that time I told them that if they could not get the screens installed they could just please refund my money after that they said that they would call me back. I waited for two hours and no one returned my call so I called them at which time I was met with a little bit of hostility by the lady that answered the phone and said that someone would be out tomorrow. The technician showed up and did not announce himself and in the process of installing some of the screens broke some of our landscaping figurines, when I questioned him about it he said well why didn't I move the flower pots at which time I told him had you requested me to do this I would've been more than happy to do it.I would suggest looking for another company if you are in need of screens and the sad part is is that the gentleman that came out to do the quote and take all the measurements did an outstanding job. Also the gentleman did offer to pay for the broken figurines but at that time I had had enough and told him thank you but no thanks read more

Had called to set up a free estimate and was given a date/time for an appointment. On the appointment date/time no one showed up or called to say they were running late. I called the office an hour later and unfortunately had to leave a message. Now, the office is closed and still no word/apology from anyone. A real disappointment. I purchased solar screens for my house and although expensive they reduced the amount of direct sunlight coming in my front rooms and heating them during the summer. I did however find out that this company is deceitful in their promise of a check for 10% of the cost when referring someone to their company. I referred my sister-in-law and she purchased from them. When I inquired about the referral program I was given the run around every time I called. I see the same signs in my neighborhood (Greenshire in Schertz) and I feel like stopping by and letting them know not to expect any kind of check for referrals. So Buyer Beware! read more

Darren was awesome! He went above and beyond what was needed to make sure that I got exactly what I needed. I bought a home that was built in 1960 and it had a wall of single pane windows- great for the view but the house got very hot with the afternoon sun. I also had a sliding glass door that needed the frame replaced. Unfortunately, they no longer manufacture screens for sliders that are that old. Darren found a local company to make me new sliders that had the solar screens inside them. They look great. The benefits were 3 fold. My house is cooler with less glare, I have privacy during the day- it is a lake house located very close to the water so people could see inside my living room and kitchen and I had old aluminum windows and the screens make it look like I have much nicer windows. I could not be happier. I will also get a rebate from my utility company. Best customer service I have ever had. Highly recommend. read more
