Variety Blinds did the installation for the entire new home. They took time to discuss the options, and scheduled a quick turn around on installation even with covid delays. We opted to go with blackout motorized blinds in the master (recommend!), which took a little longer. While we waited temporary blinds were installed for privacy. I decided i wanted to move on blind due to a weird set up with the modern house windows. Jhet came out a few days later to fix. I noticed the sliding door blinds started to "sag" a little. Jhet came out again in a couple days to identify the issue and fixed in roughly 10 minutes. Recommend! read more

Jhet does amazing work. Initially, he came out for the consult, took measurements, and walked us through samples. He was extremely courteous, took off his shoes, and wore a mask the entire time. After quickly ordering the shades, he provided frequent updates and then scheduled a single day for installation. On installation day, he worked quickly, organized everything for the room to be installed, neatly stacked the old shades in the garage, and finished within 5 hours. Again, he wore his mask the entire time, was very polite, and very efficient. I don't have that many more windows that need treatments, but I will certainly have Jhet out to do them when the time comes and will recommend him to friends and neighbors. His work was meticulous and the change to our house was a dramatic improvement. Highly recommended. I didn't want to cover the view to the night sky (moon and stars), and I wanted top-down bottom-up, but the first window treatment company I called had impossibly expensive prices, and the next one said they didn't have TDBU blinds wide enough and asked would I mind a split down the middle (I would), then tried to sell me drapes or roller blinds. Even in my first phone call with Jhet, he knew he had top-down bottom-up blinds by Hunter-Douglas that would be wide enough. His prices were very reasonable. He's a great communicator, and he knows his products. He's intuitive and logical , noticing what you want, finding a solution. He'll say "I'm not a decorator," but in fact he does have a good eye for what's going to look right. You can't go wrong with this company. read more

I bought a new house in South Austin, in September. It was my first home buying experience and I decided to go with a new construction home. One of the selling points of my new home was the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows in a couple of the rooms and the oversized, wall-to-wall windows in the bedrooms. When I was thinking, what a beautiful effect this created, I should have been thinking about how expensive and challenging these windows would be to cover. I spent over an hour on the phone with Blinds.com and almost 2 hours with Home Depot and walked away from both experiences feeling confused and frustrated. I was beginning to give up hope when a friend referred me to Variety Blinds. I called Jhett on a Saturday afternoon and he answered and was so pleasant and professional that even before we met, I started to feel much more relaxed about my window covering nightmare. We made an appointment for Jhett to come to my house and discuss options. He was on time and arrived with so many samples that he had to make multiple trips to his car to carry them all into the house. Jhett sat with me for what seemed like forever, patiently describing options and working with me to ensure that I had a pleasant experience and got exactly what I wanted. He was not your typical pushy salesperson. He really wanted to ensure that I was happy. Installation was faster than I imagined and since he is so trustworthy, I was even able to take a conference call, while he was working throughout the house. This review is long overdue. Last February... And by last time I mean 2013 (looooong overdue)... I was in the market for new blinds for my house. After searching the inter-webs relentlessly I came across a Variety Blinds on Yelp. From the very first phone call, to the day the blinds were installed, it was a great experience. Jhet is a super nice guy and came prepared with a ton of options for me. He never tried to upsell me once. in fact, he actually suggested cheaper options of what I was looking for to save ME money. Gotta love that! The blinds came in sooner than expected and the install was quick and painless. At least for me at once. My battle was taking the original blinds down and leaving gigantic holes in the wall. :/ Now, the reason I'm writing this review a year and a half later is because I just had Jhet come back out to measure for blinds for the last window in my house. He showed up on time and was as nice as I had remembered him. He even made a comment about how he didn't see my dogs around. I cannot believe that after 18 months he remembered I had dogs. As a crazy dog lady, that made me think Jhet was even more awesome. This experience with the Variety Blinds was just as good as the first. I can't wait for my last thing to come in. Classy, Local, and AFFORDABLE! We have now used Variety Blinds in THREE of our houses. We were so happy with the quality installation, quality product, and quality service with the gorgeous 2' faux wood blinds throughout our cottage in southwest Austin we didn't even think twice when we needed a high end look at a low cost for our flip in south Austin. Jhet has an efficient demeanor with an eye for design and install finish that puts an OCD eye like mine at peace. We just recently had Jhet out for the third time at our newest property, and while I was at a loss of what to do with some tricky window situations, Jhet had the perfect solution that allowed for a very high finish at cost that came out to half of what we had expected.
