At first everything seemed to go quite well. However, after about 5 months one of my screens ripped at the bottom across the length of the screen. I called the number and the person who answered took my address and advised they were very busy but would work me in within 30 days. Three months went by and I called again. This time the person apologized, took my address and said they would send someone out immediately. That was 2 months ago. We had them do solar screens for all windows on our house. They came right out to measure to custom make them and said they'd be ready in 10 days. They were ready sooner and just in time for the Texas heat. We literally felt a temperature difference in the house with each screen they installed. Just finished our solar screen install on our new house in the medical center area (we live in another city so the idea of getting this done and maybe not always being around for a question, meeting or install was a little scary). We are most pleased with the finished results. The process was a little bumpy in the beginning but once we got the things straightened out it was pretty easy. We were a little anxious after a 2 weeks and no response of a completion/install date but as someone else wrote in a review, please be patient. This company was by far the fairest and most accommodating with my schedule. Answers all your questions and received all my calls. Good family business with integrity, very rare in this day in age. Day of install and I could not be there, but they did the job anyway, thats trust. They even went to go rent a 40' ladder to get a few of the windows that were too high; they never called me to tell me there was an issue, they just saw a problem and fixed it. Not until a payment time and a 2nd final install of my patio door screen did I know of this issue. Give them a try, we will certainly use them for my inlaws house next! read more

I had my solar screens installed a few weeks ago and what a difference they make. You can NOT go wrong with this company. I had been pricing many places before them and the reviews are what helped me make my decision to go with Alamo, and i am sure glad i did. The owner came to measure my windows. He spent quite a bit of time out there in the 104 sun that day taking his time. He never did come inside, did everything from the outside so he didn't invade anyone's privacy. Very respectful company. He gave me a quote and explained they also will split the payments in 3 months no interest and does not require anything down. There is no other company who does this. Such a very trusting business. They are like a mom and pop type of business. The owner in his late 60's, his wife answers the phones and does the financial business part, and they have another co-partner. They do all the work themselves. So if someone wants to give them a bad review for not answering the phone fast enough, then thats why. His wife is one person in the office, so that is not worth a bad review like one person gave. And if that is all you can find wrong with this company, then you will be hard to please where ever you go. My home looks beautiful now with these solar screens and boy do they work. I felt relief as soon as he was installing. You also have to be patient. After they measure it will take about 11 days to make because they are all hand made. For 14 windows and a 20% discount it cost exactly what he quoted me, $907. So $302 per month for 3 months. You can't beat that. They also will come just to install one screen, something other companies will not waste their time doing. I chose to have my whole house done and i'm glad i did. If your not home when they are made, they call you the day before and will come and install even if your not there and tell you to just mail them a check. I called Alamo Discount Solar Shades in June 2016. The office clerk told me they would get back with me in two or three days to set a date to give an estimate. I called the next day to say that I had not gotten call. I had up to four contractors working in my house, and had found I needed to stay on top of everything. Anyway, I called and realized I should not have called. She was unfriendly and very rude. I apologized for truly it was my mistake. However, four weeks later, I had not heard from them. After things settled down at my house, I went to the shop, and to say the least I was upset. I wanted to talk to the manager! A man from Alamo Discount called and apologized to me. Made a date to see me, then he did not show up. I called him and told him not to come to my home. After dealing with different contractors, I was not going to pick someone with bad manners. If they want to run their company like that, then the best thing I can do is to blog them with a negative report. I chose Star Shade Solar Screen Mfg.
