!!!!! THE BEST HOBBY SHOP AND OWNER !!!!! I live in South Florida and there are absolutely no "REAL" Hobby Shops here, and what is here is god awful !!!! and I hate doing business over the internet due to the fact that no body knows what they are talking about, and you never get what you order. So... I called Shadow Hobbies (1200 miles from South Florida) and talked with Bob the owner. I explained what I wanted (a 1/5 scale RC Car Kit) which is hard to come by. Even tho they were in the process of moving, as well as being late in the day Bob took the time to talk to me and found one in his inventory. Bob even went as far as to explain what was needed to finish the kit and then went on to gather all of the Items (batteries transmitter, receiver, charger, etc....) All in all he spent well over an hour helping me and getting all of the items together then packed them and shipped them the same day. I received everything that I ordered and in perfect condition. This is a gentleman that actually knows what he is doing, does it well and enjoys what he does. This is absolutely the best Hobby Shop anywhere. I will undoubtedly continue to do business with them. As a side note to Bob... I apologize for taking so long to write this review, but I was traveling over seas and just got back into the states. i have been here several times and they have been helpful. i totally believe is supporting my local rc shop. one thing i can't deal with are emails from the owner, which are very disrespectful and insulting. this is the email he sends his members: "attention from tomorrow on no-one will be able to move past the lower level, no matter how long you have been coming here, no more than 8 people in the store at a time while clearing and cleaning we found over $800 in empty box's quite frankly i think at least 5% of you are scum-bags, you low lifes that steal,and dead beats that dont pay your bill on product i let you take, soon your names and pics will post soon for all to see, you guys that steal forget our video holds for 3 months, so you may think i wont know who you are, that would be wrong it took me 10 years to build the best store on the east coast,you ass-holes just killed it for the good people have a nice day! ass-holes we open at noon tomorrow." all due respect, i am sorry people steal from you but you sending emails like this to your possible clients will not bring them back; it is insulting. keep these messages to yourself. i will not recommend this place to anyone, nor will i return here. there are other local rc shops (within 10 miles of this place) that will help you and get what you want or need. good luck read more

This review is about yelp, yelp has been hiding over 20 4 & 5 star reviews of our business for years now, after paying thousands of dollars every year I just discovered this, they told me that there "software" weeds out the reviews! Bob is awesome! His level of experience is exceptional. He not only knows his stuff but he can make honest recommendations that dont break the bank but keep you happy and in love with the hobby. With the unfortunate closure of so many hobby stores this is definitely a dying bread of business but any enthusiast will tell you we needs businesses like this to stay around for current and future enthusiasts as well. My son (14 yrs old) had never seen a hobby store until I took him to Shadow Hobbies, he hasn't stopped talkin about it since and tells all his friends how cool of a place it is and how awesome it is to have everything you can think of available at your disposal. That convenience along with the great management of Bob makes this a must go to store for any and all of your hobby needs. I am never going back here again. Even though they have many things. The owner is very racist. Something in the store went missing and he blamed it on a group of black teens. It hurt me too see this. While when Covid-19 was very bad. He still decide too wear his mask bellow his nose and then take the mask off his face. He also yelled at his employee in a way that could be very traumatizing too the poor kid. Don't yell at your employee's, teach them. Was also getting emails from this store about political business, But I came too this store for my remote car not too head about politics. If I wanted too hear about politics I would turn on the new. I'm new to the RC stuff so I decided to give Shadow Hobbies a try because I live in the area. They have tons of inventory (RC cars, boats, helicopters, parts) and the owner said that they will be supplying arts and crafts, puzzles, and other nick nacks too. They were very helpful in showing me a great car for me to start off with. They also told me that they will carry any parts that I will need for my car and can do any type of work on my car that I can not do myself, for I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. All in all my first visit was a good one and I know I will be back. O yea, i was also told that they will be adding a 6 lane slot car track, something I used to do when I was a little kid. I've only been to the store in Paterson once, around 4 years ago to get some modeling paint. I left my email and have followed Bob and his store since then. In the past few years I have worked in retail stores that sell batteries. None of them carry RC batteries so when I can, I recommend Shadow, Recently a woman came into our store for a battery for a ride-on ChooChoo train she wanted to give to her granddaughter. We had the battery but not all of the trains functions worked. I recommended her to Shadow. Several days later she came back to our store to thank us for our help and recommending Shadow Hobbies where the train came back to life. That's high praise! read more

I needed to have an electric start repaired on my RC car, Bob and Steve were very helpful and repaired it on the spot. I am not a local customer....it was about a 45 min. drive each way, but well worth it. I have a local hobby shop which installed the electric start originally, and they wanted nothing to do with it once it broke, and tried to sell me something i didn't want, and told me the part was unavailable.I spoke with Bob prior to going to the store and he knew exactly what i needed.Once at the store both he and Steve were able to fix my car quickly. Wide selection of R/C vehicles, planes, boats/ships! Plenty of spare parts! Have designated days for racing. Bought I bought plastic military miniatures. Good Prices! Good selection of plastic models. Plenty of plastic model supplies, paints, tools, & accessories. The employees are helpful and friendly. Would recommend to families & friends interested in clean family fun and to individuals. I usually visit Bob/Shadow Hobbies when in need of misc items that i know he has in stock, which in most cases is just about everything that covers the Traxxas brand of cars and trucks and other brands aswell. Awesome hobby shop, just recently getting back into the hobby cause my son got ahold of my old RC trucks. Friendly service amazing inventory and if he doesn't have he will get it for you. Bob has an amazing wealth of knowledge, very much into the hobby himself and not there just to sell you something. Very helpful with any questions or suggestions on what's good and not good. The advantage of that is you don't just get the copy from the glossy ad or website description regurgiated back to you. You get the real been-there-done-that-got-the-t-shirt war stories that don't just tell you the "what", but also the "why". The inventory and selection at Shadow Hobbies is by far probably the best I've ever seen. Especially for a small local hobby shop. I have a hobby town USA about the same distance from home and I will always choose to go to shadow over hobby town because they have a bigger selection of inventory. great place great service! product for my sons RC toys and arts & crafts for my wife & daughter, Bob & DJ were courteous & helpfull!, They are just over the Maple Ave Bridge a stones throw from Fairlawn & Hawthorne, they tell us in June there will be a 6 lane slot car track there and an outdoor RC track for us also, this area has needed something like this for a long time! Bob is a busy guy but he will spend as much time needed to help customers and have them leave with a smile on their face. Bob employs very knowledgable people and they are always helping and engaged.
