I came in with my husband and a friend to look at Gundams. My husband recently got into Gunpla so this was like a candy store for him. It's a really big store with two floors - not just Gunpla. They have a lot of figurines and nendo's as well. The nendo's are pricier than if you had preordered from Goodsmile, but if you missed the chance, they have an extensive selection. Staff were very nice and we easily spent over an hour in the store. read more

If you have an appreciation for building cool figurines, collecting, and admiring different models you build or what is shown in displays- Gundam Planet is where it happens. Went here last night to the Hackensack location. Appears to be attached to a warehouse, however filled with a variety of Gundam plastic model kits, tools, from a beginners level, ones who collect, or others who continue it as a hobby. There is a ground floor with blinds boxes of some anime favorites and video games, Gundam model kits towards the back area from many familiar shows to build. Upstairs there is a small table where individuals can build Gundam model kits, overlooking a giant projector on the wall at a show, and explore more sections with figurines, Gundam model kits and other fun items displayed. I loved staring at the display cases. A few Gundam models inside the displays look so intricate and not sold in the stores because items were limited in quantity when it came to collaborations. It was cool to look at, gives you nostalgia for many who may remember the show or recognize some character favorites in the cases. Great store for yourself or for gifts for others who appreciate Gundam models. Helpful staff, all payment accepted. There are no price tags shown on the boxes, you'll find out your total purchase when you are ready to pay. Parking lot is small, more chance to find parking in the neighborhood. Gundam Planet is a huge store with a ton of high quality Japanese imports. The first floor was mostly model kits, and the second floor was figurines/Action Figures. They were all very good prices, close to their original prices. I was having trouble finding some items but their employee helped me find it and we were able to get everything we wanted. read more

Drove two hours from philly as a date with my girlfriend and I got greeted by unwelcoming staff members. I expressed how much I love Gundam and was excited on how the cool the store was but the staff wasn't helpful at all. They will walk back of house to put the kits away but will not show you where the kits are with out being weird. Upstairs have prices on the toys. But the gundam kits doesn't. They don't have the price label on the gundam kits and you have to bring it up to the cash register to check the price which the staff gives the customer an attitude every time you check the price. I spent $250 here to support toys and (bought two kits) and only got one cool zeku sticker. I ask may I have another one and they was trying to charge me for it saying that the sticker is only with every purchase with a gundam kit. It made me wanted to return my kits and repurchase them for the free stickers. Like I'm Asian American and been to japan with the amazing customer service and these people making a profit selling Japanese products It would be great getting the same amazing customer service. read more

It's tucked away nicely in the side of a building/warehouse with a tiny parking lot but, that's not even an issue when you come across such a rare and amazing establishment! Rows and rows of gundam supplies are quite well kept in this store. People behind the counter seem quite knowledgeable and helpful too. For those fans that are looking for something more than the standard box, you can do custom orders here as well. I'm honestly shocked there are bad reviews here, this is the store I consider my happy place! Staff is always super helpful no matter how vague I am in my requests and always spare a minute to give me advice on my projects. Having got back into the hobby after years I was a little unsure but this place makes it easy to find everything you may be looking for and At reasonable prices. If there's a kit you're looking for they'll have it or help you find it, the selection is huge and the staff knowledgeable. Gundam planet is definitely one of my favorite places to visit even just to browse, and the only place I buy my gunpla from as I'd rather support local business. I'm so glad I found a place like this so close to NYC. If you are a gundam fan, anime fan or just like to collect figures, this place is where you need to go. Gundam Planet is about a 32 minute bus ride (from Port Authority Bus Terminal) or a 15 minute ride from Manhattan to the store. It's worth the ride. Now I made it a point to mention this because I know how everyone loves the "I need it right now" type of purchases. Trust me...the ride there and back is worth it. When you get there, you notice that it "looks" like an entrance to a garage. Please DO NOT let that fool you. Once you walk in, you notice that it has a large warehouse type set up. About 5-6 rows (maybe more) filled with gundam model kits and accessories. They have PG, MG, RG, HG AND MEGA SIZED!!! Be sure to take a look at the 10% off section as well. It may have only a few items but it's worth looking at. The 10% off is because a box for the gundam (s) was damaged. All of the contents for each box are still there. No damage to the actual kit. So don't worry about that. Now that I've lured you in with Gundams, let me open you up to the other stuff: 1. Figma figures out the sphincter! 2. SH Figuarts-O-plenty 3. Statues, busts, revoltech... 4. Other building kits based off of various anime 5. Star Wars Bandai kits. 6. Kit building supplies: paints, glue, led lights I really wish I could go into everything that's there by genre and title but I'd be here for a while. The staff is helpful with picking kits, figures and just talking about the overall series that each item is associated to. OH...and there's a 95% chance that there's someone sitting up front building a kit. So if you have any questions about building, painting, or any other tips, ask. There are a lot of displays of prebuilt kits throughout the store (I'll post some picture). So if you are looking for model kits or figures or maybe just a poster, please check this place out. If you live in the NY tristate area, this is probably the BEST place to get Gundam models! They also carry Japanese toys but Gundam models are their thing. Hence the name. The store is located in an unassuming building but once you find it, you'll be in heaven. The store is laid out like a warehouse but they also have completed, built models on display. They staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It's nice to see stores staff themselves with employees that know what they are selling, as this doesn't always happen. All in all this place the best for Gundam models and the price of the toll to leave New Jersey or round trip bus ticket is definitely worth the price, which is the same as if you ordered models online. read more

Store inventory was varied, providing model kits dating back to 2004 from what I saw. They also had accessories and essentials like markers, stands, and hi quality hand replacements. They have a mass variety of kits to chose from, along with other foreign goodies if you're also interested in picking something else up while you're there. I returned once again to this Mecca of Gundam haven, and unlike the first visit, I was a little bit disappointed by the customer service and a general lack of interest and support. I ended up buying a few gundam kits and left feeling a bit...empty, especially since I drove 4 hours just to visit this store. read more

I love this place and I mean it. When I first moved to NY, I was very disappointed. I mean there were not that many places to buy GunPla (Gundam Plastic models). Trust me, there are places to buy in NY, but not very good. Either they have amazing selection with terrible prices or exact opposite. But then one day I accidentally slipped into Gundam Planet with a good friend of mine and I was almost teary eyed. They had reasonable price tags and to top it off amazing selection that gave me a warm feeling right in the deep cavity of my heart. It felt like a spring in my desperately gunpla wanting mind, as all the years of no gunpla melted away. There is one thing at this place, that was far different from any other stores I've ever been to and that is they have a broken box section. Now they have all their merchandise shipped from Japan mostly. But once in awhile with all things, the package might be damaged, only on the outside. Now there are collectors out there, who would devalue the model because the box was damaged. So in this corner, the damaged goods receive a special discount. THAT WAS CRAZY. I always check this section even if I wasn't planning to buy anything that day. You just gotta go and check this place out, it's like my dream land. Will continue, when I have more time. read more

This place is incredible. If you are a Gundam model (GunPla) fan in the tri-state area, you owe it to yourself to take the time to travel out this way one day and see it for yourself. It's in an unassuming (on the outside) warehouse-type building, but inside it's huge and has gigantic shelves filled with basically every GunPla you could imagine. High Grade, Master Grade, Perfect Grade, Real Grade... from every iteration of the show, not to mention a few of the old original models. They also get brand new stuff in all the time. They also sell paint, markers, panel-lining pens, water slide decals... you name it, if it's for GunPla they probably have it. They had a shelf full of Hobby Japan and Dengeki Hobby magazine too, as well as a shelf of toys/figures like Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Saint Seiya, etc... The people running this place obviously love what they do, and they're really happy to chat about Gundam/GunPla with you as well. Check out the display of employee made models in the front of the shop. They do also do mail-order and shipping is free over $100, I think, so worth checking out. It is set up very very well everything is easy to find and the Staff was great. I only wish I got to go here sooner but the drive is a bit.. I will be going here a lot more now. They also have a responsive twitter account that was helpful rumors of a new item coming out. This is THE PLACE for Gunpla. Japantown in San Francisco? Chinatown in Manhattan? Why bother, when mecha mecca is in (kind of the middle of nowhere) New Jersey? Great staff, amazing selection, and fantastic prices. You might be able to find kits a little cheaper online, but then you've gotta pay shipping, so why wouldn't you visit this hallowed hall of mecha models? Getting to the store can feel a little sketchy, as the store is located in an old building in kind of the middle of nowhere north Jersey, but buses run from the Port Authority and go straight there for a few bucks. The building itself is old, kind of yellow-ish brick, and from the front all you can see is the entrance to a dojo, but go around the side to the parking lot and you'll find Gundam Planet. On my first visit there was a guy sitting out front doing paint work on a Hard Graph kit, which was a great first impression. Inside, it's a warehouse space, and it's packed with rows of shelves full of Gunpla from not just the "mainstream" Gundam series we see over here in the States, but also from Gundam manga, games, and anime that Bandai never thought we'd care about. If anywhere in the States has the Gunpla you're looking for, it's probably Gundam Planet. They carry some other Gundam collectibles, as well as kits and collectibles from other (mostly mecha) anime franchises, but as the name implies, Gundam Planet is Gundam focused. They also have a good selection of tools, everything you'd need as a beginner for sure, and most of the things you'd need to replenish your supplies if you're a Gunpla veteran. And finally, they have ramen. Most of one wall is dedicated to many varieties of ramen, and a delightful selection of seasonings. Chili oil? Aww, yeah! So, to re-summarize, any Gunpla fan who ends up anywhere close to North Jersey owes it to themselves to make the trip to this amazing store. read more

Upon coming in, Gundam Planet is heaven for Gundam merchandise but also other animations such as Dragon Ball, Naruto, and even pop culture such as Star Wars & Mario Brothers. The only real Gundam supply store in a huge area, there's a reason this warehouse of model kits has been around for years. They have an enormous stock and the ability to special order kits if available, the best think around besides waiting weeks for shipments from japan. they also stock all the high-end modeling tools, from tamiya clippers and panel liners to godhand nippers. They also stock a huge supply of Gundam Markers, and more importantly, have almost the entire line of Mr. Hobby products! Paints, Varnishes, and Aerosols in large selection and quantities! I understand what some people are saying about the staff, there was a teenage kid working there when I came in who was kind of cold at first until I established that I wasn't a rank amateur. After that he became pleasant enough. Between Reddit and YouTube, I have enough places for craft banter that all I need this place for is an excellent selection of all types of models at a fair price. P.S. they have models in stock before many other retailers/sites. I picked up Gundam that was slated for a late September release on Amazon in early August here, they had 30 kits! read more

This place is a Gundam model hobbyist' dream come true. My cousin first introduced me to this place. Dont let the unassuming exterior trick you...once you go in, you will immediately realize there's no other place that carries more Gundam model kits, and die-cast collectors toys. What really surprised me was I have been able to find many model kits here thats more affordable than what I find online. Even those items that you can only find online, they'll most likely have it. RG, MG, PG, stands, weapons, LEDs, accessories, etc. They also have a website which is accurate of stocks that they have so you can either order it online or visit their store in Palisades NJ. First time visiting the shop after following them on Facebook. I have to say the shop is quite amazing. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, almost to a fault. I have been a fan of model kits for a long time, nearly 25 years in fact, and their selection is outstanding.
