The sunlight pouring in the front window, people walking by jealous of the love and attention you are receiving, and the warmth in your heart knowing that a positive nonprofit organization is being supported. I walked by this place at least twice before surrendering to the cuteness. There are two rooms (which you can switch between during your 30 minutes) and one was full of kittens. I learned that it was the mother cat and her newborns. I spent most of my time in there. The furry momma seemed worn out so I let her rest, but the kittens were ready to play. I tossed the toys, let them bat at my shoelaces, and smiled as they climbed all over me. It truly is animal therapy. So how it works is you walk in, fill out a short form, pay for 30 minutes with the cats/kittens, and then wait (if there are others in the rooms). Your fee supports the nonprofit, but if you decide to adopt one of the cats/kittens (which is why they're there!) your fee rolls into the adoption fee. Between the tiny paws and purrs and sunlight beaming in, I was so relaxed afterwards that I went back to my hotel room and took a nap. If I lived closer, I would be here at least once a week. I highly recommend you visit soon.

Thankfully, Massanutten Animal Clinic could handle it and they were conveniently located near my family. They did an excellent job and were patient/kind when dealing with my tight timeline. I plan to use them in the future for both travel paperwork and regular checkups when I am home visiting family. Cheers!

I had the valid prescription from our regular veterinarian, who was even willing to speak directly with the veterinarian at Massanutten to verify both the prescription and my dog's medical history. Despite that, the clinic refused to sell the prescription food unless they first examined my service dog and charged me for an office visit. This was not a request for a diagnosis or treatment--only to purchase the exact prescription diet that had already been prescribed by his veterinarian. I understand that veterinary clinics have policies and professional responsibilities, but I was disappointed by the complete lack of flexibility or compassion in a situation involving a traveling service dog with documented gastrointestinal issues. My veterinarian made every effort to verify the prescription, yet no accommodation was offered. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this clinic. I believe they missed an opportunity to put the well-being of a service animal first, and I left feeling that helping my dog was secondary to generating an office visit. I hope they will reconsider how they handle similar situations in the future so that other traveling pet owners--especially those with service animals and established veterinary care--receive a more compassionate response.
