Two different dogs: Very poor assessment of dogs recommending euthansia for one (who had a tooth infection) and major surgery in the amount of $3000 for what they deemed definite "cancer". If I could give zero stars I would. They have been no help to my cat. Took a look at his ear after him being seen for it multiple times, told me it was better, my cat started bleeding all over the floor with the issue they told me was resolved. I have spent so much money and time with anicira, I would like to think that they care about their returning clients but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was able to get a Monday appointment after taking my senior kitty to her previous vet on a Thursday, and she was definitely not feeling well and had been given zero treatment plan by her previous vet. She was lethargic, not eating and definitely not doing well. Thankfully Dr. Kivlighan identified the bad tooth, put her on an IV to get rehydrated, put her on antibiotics and pain meds. Within a couple days, she was definitely feeling much better, eating again and back to her usual self. So the care she received was great. The reason for the 4 star rating is that they are closed on Fridays, which is inconvenient, as they do answer phones. I'm waiting to get a prescription for my dog's Nexgard approved for an online pharmacy, as she needs to take her next dose now - and guess what? There is no medical staff in the office on Fridays to authorize prescriptions. Seriously? So now it'll be Monday before they approve it and I'll have wait however long for shipping. It's not like this is a controlled substance, it's flea & tick prevention. The vet care is great, the lack of Friday and no weekend hours is awful. read more

i came for the first time a couple day ago & had my dog neutered. a day later when i checked his incision i noticed he was infested with fleas. we have never dealt with fleas for 5 months while having him. I called them the next morning and was basically told i was going to be given a medication to help with the fleas & upon arrival to pick up the medication i was told they weren't giving me the medication they told me over the phone i was getting. then about 20 mins later another women came and gave me the medication i was told i was going to receive. (not sure why that was so much trouble, not even an apology for the confusion) then 2 days after i noticed my cats were infested (this was a saturday morning) so i called first thing monday morning (after spending almost 200$ on flea products/medicines) just to be told that they wouldn't be helping me with the cats that were infested (not even recommendations) i called 3 times in one day and no one got back with me, first it was the people were in meetings then they weren't in the office. i can't at all believe the lack of compassion through the whole situation that there place caused. i understand accidents happen but i also understand accountability. and i have now spent over 300$ in flea products to not get a call back like it's my fault that i have the fleas? will NEVER be going back to this place. and i do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Anicira offers vet care for a little less $ than other area vet clinics, and I have always trusted them completely to give routine exams and shots to our cats and to alter any we adopt. No longer! That trust evaporated yesterday, 7/21/20, after speaking to their CEO about a horrifying, tragic situation that involved our Little Momma cat and me at her clinic on 7/6/20. She just terminated me as a customer after I persisted in trying to tell her by phone exactly what her people did that day that resulted in so much pain and suffering for almost two weeks. She told me she did not need to hear the "blow by blow" account and that she was "very satisfied" with her current policies and protocols. Well, that is really frightening and explains why this tragedy has occurred so many times! You can see a picture of Little Momma below, nursing her kittens as they weaned onto solid food. She had an allergic reaction that required treatment a month earlier with a follow-up on July 6th. I brought her to Anicira in a new, very secure, high-quality pet carrier that afternoon and totally expected her to be brought back to my car, safe inside of it, just 15 minutes or so after she was taken into their clinic from their curbside. I waited patiently and then saw what appeared to be my pet carrier being carried by a small woman using just one hand. It was a long distance to walk that way with a cat inside, and it bounced around as she walked. Still, I was not concerned. I was not concerned even when I watched her suddenly stop and set it down on the sidewalk, halfway to my car. I didn't know then for sure if it was my pet carrier or not. So, I watched with calm, curious interest as that small woman first did a quick "double-take," set the carrier down, and rush off toward a busy street. I never even considered the pet inside that carrier had escaped from it bc I KNEW that type of carrier was just like mine and it was IMPOSSIBLE for it to open up unexpectedly while being carried. Impossible, however, ONLY IF the person who placed the pet inside had latched the door upon closing it. She did NOT! I was watching her chase after my very frightened, disoriented mother cat who had just fallen out of her very secure carrier! Not just her, but my frightened cat was soon being chased by at least THREE other Anicira employees that she had called to help her get my cat back. All of them were carrying big NETS, like a dog catcher might carry. I cannot imagine anything scarier to a cat or to any disoriented animal than having four strange people chasing it at high speed with large nets! It would only cause it to run farther and faster than ever. So, I actually thought they couldn't possibly be going after anyone's pet cat, and I still wasn't worried. But, I should have been. While EVERYONE knows that it is just plain stupid to chase after an escaped cat and scare it even more, bc a healthy cat can easily outrun a human, Anicira believes differently. The CEO, Cate Lemmond, actually cut me off on the phone and defended this protocol to me when I tried to convince her it needs to stop. It caused so much harm in this situation! Both my cat and I were traumatized acould have easily been injured by a car when she ran across a busy city street and back again to Anicira. If they had not panicked when her unlocked door popped open on the way to my car and she fell out, she would have stayed where she felt safe under a nearby bush until I got to her. After they were all chasing her, there was another point after about 10 minutes when she sought to rest under another bush. Rather than pulling back and telling me where she was so I could just get her back, one of them tried to grab her and she was off again! It continued another 5 minutes or so until she finally lost them. At that point, she was also very lost, too. It took almost TWO WEEKS for me to find her after a lot of effort! Anicira, to my shock, has managed to lose A LOT of cats! It could have been while doing curbside (4 months) or a longer period of time. One medical professional nearby said, as I handed him a lost cat flyer, "They have lost more cats than I can count!" That's a big problem, too, but the CEO blames all of those cases on the owners not providing secure carriers. Really? When my cat was lost, their #2 Administrator told me, "... carrier doors can be tricky." I said, "Not mine!!" I PUSHED for her to look closely at my carrier, how easily my carrier door latched, how secure it should have been! She admitted it was not my carrier's fault, but if I had not made her see this, she would have gone on believing the fault was really my carrier's. I would have been discounted as just another careless customer with a "tricky" or inferior pet carrier, when it was totally their fault my cat became lost - and mostly bc of how they responded so RIDICULOUSLY! Poor leadership leads to poor policies and protocols. That's what has obviously happened at Anicira. Please, BEWARE. read more

spoke with a woman that was down right rude showing no signs of compassion or concern. offered me an appointment on the 18th for my sick dog. said they were not there for emergencies. when I took him there 7 years a the person I spoke to was kind and friendly. when I took my Cookie Monster Buds mama there from having had at least 2 strokes they put her down for me let me hold her in my arms. that was 2 years ago. never was it about getting paid they had grant money they used and bei way below the poverty level I was very grateful. idk what to do read more

Dr.Chelsea Bond was amazing , She listened to all of our concerns was very personable. Made both my dogs feel very comfortable and at ease. She also was very knowledgeable and made all my concerns get addressed. She diagnosed both my dogs with what was wrong with them after months of not knowing. Wonderful staff! I brought in our dog to be spayed because the price was so reasonable. I had such a positive experience that I asked if they were full vet service or just a spay/neuter clinic. They are a non profit but take patients like any other vet so I switched all 3 of my dogs and have been very happy so far with the care they have received. The price is about the same as my previous vets office, maybe a little lower but vet care cannot be free and their office is much closer to where I live and work. I highly recommend them! read more

Made appointment to adopt second animal from them past weekend ( please note we offered to meet earlier in the week but anicira choose Saturday at Petco. Come to find out they gave the animal to a new foster the night before we are suppose to adopt the dog and didn't have a phone number for the new foster ( who does that ?), so we didn't get to meet and adopt the new dog that we applied and was approved for. When we arrived on site Saturday we were just told " dog isn't here" ... no offer to help , find or resolved issue ... just "dog isn't here" ( great customer service ) .... wasted our time and efforts and made a 3 yr old little girl very sad because she couldn't get our 1.5 year old dog a little brother ...... extremely disappointed with process and customer service this time attempting to adopt from this company. My family will not recommend to adopt from these people in the future read more

When i finally got ahold of them to see if they could schedule my cat because something major was wrong with him they told me it would be weeks. EVEN WITH IT BEING AN EMERGENCY! Anicira does nothing but scam people for theyre money and pussy foot around the bush. I had to put my cat down two weeks after they Put him on medication he shouldnt have been put on. It made a little easier leaving there all day for her surgery knowing she was in good hands. They even sent an email the next morning to check up on her! I love Anicira! I will start with saying that no business or person is perfect. I have seen several of the negative reviews for them but you have to remember that Anicira is a place that has grown very rapidly in the last few years. You're bound to have some kinks in the gears when you're growing fast, changing systems, and working with tons of people, organizations, rescue groups, and grants. I understand that if you're unhappy, you take your business elsewhere, that is your right. But let's not forget that most of us all have the same common goal, save the animals. I have had both my cats fixed at Anicira, and now our new husky Po loves it there. I will continue to give them my business, not because they are inexpensive, but because I believe in what they are fighting for and their mission to help our community. I encourage you to give them a chance, I know I'm glad I did. read more

Please--if you value your pet, go elsewhere. I had major reservations about a low-cost vet, high volume clinic---we recently moved from a major metropolitan area and this place was recommended. We typically opt for a much more high value care. My husband and I do not have children and we have the financial means to provide the very best care for our pets. I have had amazing experiences with incredible vets in the past. THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE TIMES. Our cat was vomiting but still eating and acting quite well. I took her in for her well visit and mentioned the vomiting. She was then taken for an x-ray. The incredibly young (and apparently inexperienced) vet came back to tell me that there may be an obstruction. There was no mass noted on palpation. This differential diagnosis was based on a "gas pattern" seen via x-ray. An ultrasound was not conducted. I was then pressured to leave her overnight. Against my better judgment, I opted to leave her so that she could receive IVF in the hopes that this would clear her gas pattern. From this point on, we were repeatedly told that something terrible would happen if we did not agree to a $1300 surgery. I asked multiple times what our options were and I was scared into agreeing to the surgery. We had reservations about the potential risk of the surgery, particularly because our cat appeared quite well. When I asked if this was really necessary, I was told that "there is an area that is really concerning". I was repeatedly told that we were "going into the weekend", "I would hate to have anything happen to her", "I have the surgeon standing right next to me, ready to jump in, right now". This "professional" then had the audacity!! to tell me " I know your husband wasn't really on board...but...". When I told this young girl that I needed to talk with my husband to make a mutual decision, she acted as if this was not appropriate. Eventually we agreed to the surgery, despite major reservations. This decision was based entirely on the "professional's" opinion. I then get a call that they have finished and "everything is fine". Apparently she has some inflammation in her gut. Tell me how a vet can be that ignorant? You can't differentiate between an obstruction!!!! and an "upset stomach"??? You can't read an x-ray??? Jesus! This would be considered MALPRACTICE in the human world. You are in the wrong profession!!! Now--we have a cat that will have to heal from a very invasive surgery due to an upset stomach! But---they got their money!!!$$$$ And to top it off--no antibiotics to go home to stave off infection, no cone to prevent her from licking the incredibly huge incision site, and they lost her collar and tags! AND she still hasn't received her annual shots. $1300 for a completely inappropriate and UNNECESSARY procedure. We will never return to this horrendous place. We will be following up to correct the mistakes of this place with another vet. read more

I took two kitties to Anicira today. I was under the impression that they were a no-kill shelter. I was informed that they don't take in cats. Oh, but they take dogs. They save them from other shelters. Why are dogs anymore worthy of being saved than cats. The one kittie was a beautiful 6 mth old Calico. I had gotten her so that I could pet her just like our 3 domesticated cats that live inside with us. She would make someone a sweet friend . Beautifully marked as well. I couldn't keep her. But, had to get rid of her and about 20 others. Neighbors complained and we got a police visit. So, they went to the SPCA. No guarantee that they'll be adopted. Broke my heart to take them. read more
