When we arrived, I was juggling a bunch of stuff and heard someone yelling from a house-like structure that we needed to pay. It was a little awkward since payment isn't collected near the entrance, but she apologized for shouting and explained they try to catch guests right away. Totally understood--and I had every intention to pay once I set our things down! The kids had a blast in the water and loved the volleyball net. We weren't thrilled about the ducks everywhere, but other families seemed to enjoy them. The snack shack had lunch options and snacks at reasonable prices. Just a heads-up: it's cash only for both admission and food. All in all, a great day outdoors with plenty of space and friendly vibes!

Yes, it is quite hilly throughout the campground, but the individual sites are very level to park the camper with almost no blocks needed. We had two sites this trip with water and electric, but they do have quite a few full hook-up sites. Overall the sites were large, with trees between, providing additional privacy. Except for the Plateau sites, which have the amazing view, the rest of the campground had a great tree cover! Too often private campgrounds attempt to squeeze as many sites as possible and end up with campers on top of their neighbors, but at Starlight, the sites felt very secluded. Water pressure and electric were both great throughout the stay. There is no internet, but we had good cell phone service. The employees in the camp store are amazing and go out of their way to make you feel welcome! I felt everyone went above and beyond to help me from the reservation process through check-in. The camp store is well stocked and also serves hand-dipped ice cream. Starlight is a nice campground to relax or explore central Pennsylvania.

If you want to take a shower in an actual bathroom, it will cost you 4 quarters. I have stayed at about 20 different campgrounds and this is the first time I have seen such a thing. The laundry is $3.00 in quarters. Make sure you have a lot of quarters! The roads in the campground are full of holes, so be careful you don't drop your transmission! And to get in the gate, you have to call the office. Every time. Also a little odd to me, but I suppose it keeps out the "riff raff." The store is rarely open, seems like about 3 hours a day. Other than that, it's great!

We stayed at Adventure Bound Campground at Oak Creek for a weekend with our family of five, and…read moreunfortunately, we were not impressed. We really wanted to give it a fair shot, but overall, it just wasn't a good fit for us as weekend campers. The sites are extremely small and very close together. We barely had enough room to fit our camper, car, and golf cart on the site. On top of that, our site was very unlevel. We went through a ridiculous amount of wood trying to get the camper level. One staff member was kind enough to bring us a few extra pieces of wood. Unfortunately, that was one of the few positive interactions we had with the staff. With the exception of a few people, we found the staff to be pretty unwelcoming. There is mostly seasonal campers, and the campground doesn't feel as lively as it should when you are on vacation. As a family who primarily camps on weekends, we didn't feel particularly welcomed or comfortable. The cable also didn't work during our stay, and the camp store was very underwhelming. There's no dog park, which would have been a nice amenity for families traveling with pets. One of the positives was the gas-powered golf cart, which was great to have and made getting around the campground much easier. There is also a lot of tree coverage, so there was plenty of shade. As far as the location, don't expect to be right near everything Lancaster has to offer. Be prepared to drive at least 40 minutes to many of the popular Lancaster attractions. Between the extremely small and unlevel sites, and the overall atmosphere, we wouldn't choose to stay here again. We're weekend warriors, and we're looking for a campground that feels more welcoming and accommodating for families coming in for a weekend. Unfortunately, Adventure Bound at Oak Creek didn't meet that for us.
