We had a Hunter Douglas shade collapse yesterday morning. When we called they said there were no service businesses in Humboldt County. We rediscovered Shady Lady in Henderson Center, Eureka! They took our shade in at noon and they had it repaired for us at the end of the day. Amazing service and very reasonable price.. They have a wonderful store loaded with great products . Paid $ 4800 to get black out curtains for our four windows, one of which is sky light window and one door. Not only the curtains didn't do it's job fully, the sky light window is loose. Which makes light come in from all around the window. When my husband called them, instead of coming and fixing it, they told my husband to fix it himself. Not worth $4800. Save your hard earned money. Very disappointed !! read more

The woman who bought this business has no intention of doing Shade Repairs. All she wants to do is sell you their "high end" shades (she repeated "high end" a dew times). I was prepared to even buy all new 3 shades for big windows (she quoted me $800 plus delivery/installation/taxes for their cheapest ones). But she kept interrupting me, acted like I wasting her time. She talked herself right out of a sale! The man she sent to assess whether the cords/strings could just be repaired (which my dead husband, who knew nothing about shades, did himself on 2 of the six cords in the past), was very nice. They talked about me "behind my back" in Spanish on speaker phone, assuming I wouldn't know I was being insulted. By her, anyway, not him. read more

WOW DO NOT try to spend your hard working lower middle class money here-like I tried. If you don't have a BENBOW historic inn money or a big project then chances are It wont be good enough! I don't want to claim she is racist but for once in my life I think I felt racism. The owner of the store came out to my house in October 2015 she says which is impossible because I closed escrow November 2,2015 Which I agreed and went along with her story I said ok. Which - you know is probably somewhat something I would do -ok I might have been a little excited and not remember having her over. I know at that point I didn't know what direction my home "VIBES " would go so that's valid. I MIGHT HAVE done that in NOVEMBER 2015. Then she claims she had been to my house another time which I do remember. She claims she spent three hours in total taking measurements and going over blinds with me. Ok- for about a week I had been excited to go into shady lady. At times I can take my time to say the least but like a car when you sit or see something everyday you want to at least feel like you made a educated decision. After all at this store you are paying for the SERVICE! I was in her store with 2,000. When her 10,000 job project came in to make a appointment for the next day. Which she seemed to throw in my face. Later in our discussion. And there are no excuses for the way you treated me I gave you so many opportunities to calm down and come down to earth Susan. I understand This might not be as big or as easy but in sales to s sometimes it takes effort and working with people you just wouldn't be friends with. I was there to get started on my project of spending almost 170.00 (each) on some "basic laminate blinds" is what she said to support you and your efforts and not to mention of course your time years prior. Your customer service was horrific you truly made me feel like I had personally done something wrong to you. When I said "I just want to love my blinds" and then tried to reason with you on why I hadn't been back sooner I then tried getting a appointment for again the measurements you didn't take as a professional window store maybe you should have taken it just some advise *take all of them. You stated you wouldn't come out to my house again you would send somebody else that you had spent enough time there almost 5 years ago! But then also said you didn't come out to do measurements anymore! It's not what you said but it's the way you kept trying to sell me yet PUT ME DOWN at the same time! You mocked me and REPEATED the phrase - when I said "I am sure you love the things you love" I was just trying to say- I want to love the space I live in. I take great pride in my little rickety old house. but YOU seemed to have a chip on your shoulder. Over the time you spent 5 years ago and I understand you completely SuSan but today I was there to buy everything you recommended and I told you this! I kept reaffirming that you were right and correct. We had enough time to have worked it out in the store just you and me and even when I kept trying to support your business it's hard to justify 170.00 basic laminate blinds (each) -installed. When you can buy them everywhere else much cheaper without being bullied. Before I left I asked her if she would show me her notes to see what could have taken so long she said no because she didn't want me taking a picture of her measurements PETTY. I told her I was going to have to voice how she treated me on Yelp And she said she would just come and defend her self. Which is valid. I have one question why when I started to walk out from your store did you call my name? Did you need to say something to me? You have my number. But you just walked away. read more

I called this place last year to get some help with choosing a window treatment for a 6' window. I was absolutely astounded by this woman's aggressive rudeness to a potential customer, clearly giving the impression that I was a nuisance and wasting her time. I was told that the only way I could come into the store to look at merchandise was to make an appointment, which I did. I was in a state of pure shock when I hung up the phone. After regaining my composure, I realized that I didn't need to pay someone to abuse me, and decided to look elsewhere for merchandise. I did extend the courtesy of a phone call to cancel the appointment, and will be shopping elsewhere for window coverings and installation service, with the addition of several other windows to my order. read more

The Shady Lady (the service man) was great. My elderly father in law was not in the mood to move from his chair and Bob just worked around him. It made it more difficult for him to do the repair, but he went along with it. Great service! read more

shady lady is the perfect name for this shady business. do not give your hard earned money to this company. the new owners know nothing about customer service and will treat you like dirt. they also lack basic customer service skills and are aggressive. after spending thousands and thousands of dollars, they act like they are doing you a favor. do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. new owners have terrible attitude as evidenced by all the recent 1 star reviews. all the good reviews were for the prior owners read more

Highly recommend this business! The previous owner of our new home installed shades from this company throughout. There is an app where we programmed in when the shades should open, close half way, close all the way etc. the company is owned by a husband and wife team. They have a showroom in Eureka and offer a variety of style and options. read more

My husband and I would like to get window coverings on out living room and dinner room windows. We were going to just go to Home Depot and purchase them, but my husband wanted to try local first. He called today to speak to someone about getting a quote. The woman was very rude. He didn't hear her when she answered and wasn't sure if he got the right number so he asked what she said. She spoke slowly and rude as if my husband was the issue. She then told him that they give free quotes but ask the the customer do most of the leg work. Really?! So we do all the measurements possibly incorrect as we are not the professionals allegedly she is. The rudeness continues so he ends up hanging up on her and returning the rudeness. It seems that people are always pushing the shop local thing but this isn't the first not great experience with "shopping local" I have had. The one star is because I am forced to put one or I can't post the review. read more
