Terrible experience. Seated after about 20 minutes (several tables open the entire time) and then waited for about 45 minutes after we ordered and the food still never showed up. When we asked how much longer, we were told that there was still several tickets ahead of us and they hadn't even started making it yet. We left immediately and took our businesses elsewhere. So I'll start off by clarifying that this is a review of Shady Oaks that's right across from the turn off for Beavers Bend. The map here on yelp shows this place downtown Broken Bow. The cheeseburger was good. Your typical small town, cooked to order food that's really good but the building itself is kinda rundown. Like the other reviews, the onion rings are a must. Just wish I got more for the extra $3 spent. The pecan pie was good as well. Cheeseburger, onion rings and pie cost me a lil over $10 with water to drink. read more

BRUNCH! Friendly staff... Clean place. Food is ok. It wasn't bad food, but it wasn't great. Nothing really special, but it was convenient to where we were staying. We took it to-go so that we could eat on the porch at our cabin and enjoy a Bloody Mary! It paired well with our drinks and got our belly's full, so I really can't complain. read more

We had a good breakfast here this morning... 2-14-2012 a good way to start Valentine's day....

Went there for breakfast on Memorial Day. Small parking lot was full, but we managed to squeeze in a spot. No wait, though. The waitress wasn't exactly friendly, just was. She DID say it would be "a little bit of a wait." Hah! Famous last words! We had omelets with biscuits and gravy and pancakes. The pancakes were tasty, but nothing I couldn't get at IHop. My cheese omelet was made with a Kraft Singles slice of cheese. The gravy tasted like it came from a packet. The hash browns were super crispy and tasty, and the biscuits were fluffy. It was a decent breakfast, but nothing to write home about. But, here's the kicker. From the moment we sat, to the moment we got our food, it was 45 minutes!!! THAT was more than a little wait. I've heard the burgers are good, but we probably won't make it here another time. Also, they have a "for sale" sign up in front. Doesn't bode well. read more

We came in for breakfast a little before 11 and had to wait on a table for about 5min which we understand your busy no problem but at 11:02 after we were sat we asked if we could have breakfast & our waitress told us no so we ordered around 11:05 it took forever to get our food (46 min) table next to us got their BREAKFAST order at 11:37 we got our LUNCH order at 11:51, we should of been able to order breakfast & nothing was said about our long wait on our burgers. Wife and I stopped on our way home this morning. We both ordered omelettes, which were really really good. Hash browns need to be cooked a little harder as they are somewhat mushy, biscuits were great but gravy was plain Jane. French toast was pretty good for the money. For $20 you can't really beat it. Solid choice for burgers, fries and other typical American lunch fare -- relative to other choices around Beaver's Bend. Our go-to is the chopped beef BBQ sandwich with a side of their coleslaw. The onion rings are the size of a small dinner plate and could easily be shared. Waitstaff is always pleasant. Their pies are excellent -- I only wish I could remember to save room. read more

I should have known this was a bad place by it being empty on a Friday night! The wait staff was not friendly at all, and rude. I asked for a ribeye and got a lame excuse for that... it was also overcooked, I ordered potato salad and they were out. So i got mashed potatoes that were bland! This place looks a little shady but the food and service were both fantastic! There were several other tables of locals but the waitress made us feel like we were part of the small town crowd. We ordered fried green beans...they were basic fried green beans. I ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and my husband ordered country fried steak with mashed potatoes. Both were delicious. The onion rings were my favorite! They also had delicious looking desserts although we were too full to try them. Definitely check this small, friendly place out! read more

Robin was amazing. As soon as a table came open she let us know. She quickly came over and helped us and cleaned the table all the while running food to her other tables. She also never left us hanging with coffee and updates on when our food would be out to us. So with all that being said, service was amazing and food was good. Shady oaks restaurant is a great place to eat breakfast or any other meal while in the lake area. The food is cooked just right. The portions are adequate. You won't leave hungry...in fact you should leave stuffed. The prices are a little higher that I expected, but was well worth the drive. The atmosphere is homey and comfortable. The wait staff is friendly and attentive even with a packed house. I was impressed. Shady oaks restaurant has been a staple in the Beaver Bend area for quite some time now and I can see why. We went in at 12:30 and it was very crowded. Maybe more crowded than they were used to. It didn't matter, the waitress seated us right away in the back. She took our order before larger parties that were already there. We both had cheeseburgers and they were some of the best burgers I've had. (I'm something of a master burger finder.) No preformed frozen patties here. Try we're nice and greasy and juicy where the grease came through the bottom bun. The only complaint is the buns weren't homemade but I'm picky about that. I'll let it slide since the waitress went out of her way to attend to us. If you're between Broken Bow and Ft. Smith, make a point to go here. read more
