Summer must be here, because the lake tourist crowdis definitely here. It's a worthwhile pier front restaurant where the bar is oh so filled with patronstaking a break from their water aports activities. We arrived for a late lunch, and the crowd was still growing. The parking area is next to the marina shops. So you will need to walk amd pass the building to get near the restaurant, unless you arrive by boat. If so, then you can park the boat by the dock. There was at least a 20 minute wait for a table. We just decided to sit by the bar. There were two seats available only. We ordered the flavorful and juicy Buffalo wings and herbal flavored smoky wings, crunchy tator tots, and a pepperoni pizza. Also good, we ordered a couple good locally made beers. Their food was fresh, not frozen. If you'd don't mind the noise or getting bumped occasionally by random strangers, then this is a good respite to grab some food and ale. BTW, our servers/bartenders were great. They kept their attention on us while we were at the bar, gave us good recommendations, and accommodating. I would return here, because their staff were alert, quick and friendly.

    A view from the water.

We stopped by here while visiting a friend on Lake Gaston. We pulled up to the dock and got gas for his boat then docked. We had a large party so it took a few minutes to get a table. We sat outdoors but you are covered over head . You have a nice view of the water. To start I had the fried pickles appetizer. They were good. For my main meal I had the pimento smash burger and sweet potato tots. The burger was really good and the tots were excellent. I had the pain killer drink. It really hit the spot for a hot day on the lake. Service was good for being a large table. I would recommend this place. It's a good spot on the water to enjoy a meal and drinks.

Went here for date night and enjoyed the outdoor bar area and live music on a Friday night! The food was delicious and the beer was cold! Our bartender was very personable and provided great service.

Tried the restaurant this lake trip. Busy for a Thurs night, but our party of 8 was seated promptly. There was DJ blasting music in small area - unbelievably loud, we almost left, it was ringing music not pleasant at all. How you loose not attract customers. Food is above average, esp for such a small town. Lobster roll was meaty, bread toasty chewy. Tuna tostadas, had to dig for tuna, which was the melty star but way too much piled lettuce. Sweet potato tatter tots, Brussels sprouts with pork belly were other highlights - apps were more creative than mains. Drinks were meh but service friendly.

    Beautiful view!

My family came here yesterday visiting family who lives in Lake Gaston and we ate here for lunch - what a fun spot with a beautiful view! The wait staff were all very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was very good and came out timely for our party of 6. They have a cute little boutique inside the marina store right beside the restaurant which has cute Lake Gaston items. Definitely excited to come back here next time we're in town! Bonus - they have 2 single stall restrooms outside that I was surprised were air conditioned!

Real lobster vs whatever on the right. Mystery something.

Lobster roll on left in New England. "Lobster" roll on right at Shady's. For God's sake, take it off the menu!! Pizza was excellent as well as the service.

Shady Shack offers a great view but it was hard to see since we were at a regular table. We both started off with a beer, the selection was decent. The draft beer that I sampled was a tad warm so I went with a Blue Moon bottle instead and my husband had a Corona. For food we split the Crab Bites to start followed by the Lobster Roll with sweet potato tots for me and the Gaston Grouper Sandwich (blackened) with rosemary fries for him. The food and service were both really good.

We ate at a comfortable bar seat due to full house. The bartender, Melody knew her job & made perfect mixed drinks. She was also our server. We were served in a timly manner & left after an un-rushed hour. Our meal consisted of bleu cheese apple salad, she crab soup, filet done to perfection with potato & asparagus. Dessert was key-lime pie (delicious) & crem brule (slurp). Including 4 bar drinks, total was $105 and worth every penny. Our server was quite nice and was able to answer our menu questions. Our meal began with the soup of the day, Chicken Tortilla Soup. It was quite tasty, full of veggies that you would find in a pico de gallo nestled in a rich tomato broth, topped with crispy tortilla strips and served in a very small 8oz cup. What was missing was the chicken... I think I encountered one very small cube of chicken in one of those bites. My husband had the bowl size and echoed the same sentiment. For entre, I ordered the Blue Cheese and Apple Salad and made it a meal with the delicately fried oysters. The portions were great for a meal, but I expected more diversity in the salad greens. I received a mound of spinach that would make Popeye extremely happy. I would have loved some crispy romaine to vary the density of the spinach. However, the house dressing and candied walnuts added a great touch. My husband ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta which I sampled. I loved the sausage and the complexity of flavors for this dish. My son had the crab cakes which were also greatly portioned. He said that the cakes were very good, but for the premium prices he'd expected more crab and less filler. Nevertheless, he still cleaned his plate. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but for what you pay for a meal, I expected a little bit more.

Was really impressed by the hospitality of the bartender Toulson (spelling?). He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave me detailed recommendations. -- The Hamachi Crudo was so bright and light. I really enjoyed the puffed rice on top and the basil ice complemented the dish well. The grapefruit added some nice acidity and the little crunchy bites were the perfect texture contrast. The pieces of fish were large and thick. -- The Manchego-herb Biscuits were awesome. One order comes with four small biscuits. Crust was flaky, the inside was soft and moist, and the flaky salt was the cherry on top. -- The Seared Duck Breast was phenomenal. The duck was juicy and tender and salted well. The skin was thick, sooo flavorful, and melted in your mouth but I would've liked a little more crispiness on the outside. I enjoyed the mix of fresh vegetables and warm cooked vegetables served with the dish. -- The Lemon Yuzu Tart was a nice bright and rich dessert. The tartness comes from the jam on top of the tart but it doesn't overwhelm the dish. The creme brulee style top was a nice touch. The buttermilk ice cream was more on the icier side than creamy. I really enjoyed all the dishes I tried here and am looking forward to my next visit.

Since we were informed that we couldn't make reservations on the same day, we did have about a 45 minute wait when we got there but we didn't mind. We were sent a link to track how far we were in line, which I thought was very helpful. Once we were seated, our server came over right away with waters. She was extremely nice and gave us time to look over the menu. The Potato Leak Soup was on their March Specials Menu so we decided to order that with a Bread Basket to start. The bread was delicious, very soft and warm, it was served with a whipped, honey butter and herbed oil. Unfortunately, the soup was cold when we received it. I'm not sure if it had been sitting a while but we did have them returned. Oddly enough, they were returned in a larger bowl, not the same size cup, but with the same amount of soup lol. It definitely was weird but it was indeed piping hot and the soup was delicious. The Crab Stuffed Mushrooms were great as well. I decided on the Crab Stuffed Shrimp, my daughter chose the Chicken Marsala and my sister went with the Hand Cut NY Strip. I thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp, the flavors were great and the NY Strip was cooked perfectly. My daughter wasn't a fan of her Chicken Marsala but they did switch it out for some Salmon. Overall, my daughter had a great birthday dinner yet again. Our server was new but we couldn't tell because she did a great job at making sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant is beautiful and the food is delicious! I will always recommend Sedona Taphouse for anyone looking for a great meal and dining experience.
