We were in Littleton to see our son play at The Acorn Center and found Blue Jay Bistro. We walked in and discovered a beautiful oasis in this little town. Our server explained everything was made from scratch and that dinner is a great experience. We only had about an hour and a half window. She went into the kitchen and explained the situation and everyone couldn't have been more accommodating. My son and I had the best pork chops we ever tasted, my wife had the homemade pappardelle, which was amazing. We started with two apps, the bread plate and a burrata, which were amazing. We had a gelato dessert and drinks with everything. The service was top notch, the food even better, and the nicest people in the world making sure we were happy and on time. The best food and service in the area by a huge margin. Blue Jay was lovely in all respects. We were welcomed and checked in on by the manager, the food was perfectly prepared and artfully plated, the wine list was good, and desserts delicious. We spent a week eating all over the Lake Gaston area and this is the only restaurant we'd return to. Highly recommended. read more

This place was great. We had the hanger steak, short ribs, and short rib empanadas. We also had the banana beignets and olive oil cake (which I had never heard of before). Everything was excellent, ... well prepared and lots of flavor. The manager came out to tell me that my hanger steak wasn't right so they had to prepare another one. Nice touch! The staff was on point and the ambiance inviting. We highly recommend this place in little Littleton. The hams & jams and friends appetizer was fabulous I had the Hanger Steak with A141house steak sauce, Texas red collards, cheddar potato press and black garlic onion puree. Wife had the Scallops (pan seared) duck fat grits, molasses cured duck bacon, wilted greens and cherry pecan argodolce. What an amazing pearl tucked away in Eastern North Carolina. Blue Jay punches above its weight in a major city, let alone a lake town. Apparently the owners are from the area and have done well for themselves. Time to give back, Blue Jays seems to be part of a regional non profit revitalization effort which involves a brewery, artist collective and even a charter school. As for the food, it is venture off 95 for 25 mins worthy. If you want high class food in the low country, this is your spot. We had amazing service, couldn't recommend more. read more

Came here last year for the first time for our wedding anniversary, and enjoyed it so much we had to do it again this year. Once again, the food was incredible, the service was fantastic, and the whole night was nothing short of phenomenal. We will return for sure. We arrived for our reservation and were seated in the bar area. My husband and I started off a round of drinks, it was a beer for me and the sunset peach cocktail for him. I also tried a pour of the tempranillo and port. To start for food we chose the squash soup. Next it was the pork chop for me and the flounder for him and we split the hazelnut nutella for dessert. Nothing short of phenomenal! This was a 10/10 experience - food, service, ambiance, we had such a memorable meal for our first wedding anniversary while staying nearby. Our food was exceptionally seasoned, plated beautifully, and had such great flavor. One of the few "fine dining" choices near Kerr & Gaston lakes. Food was better than average, if not spectacular. Service was friendly and helpful, if inexperienced. Nice outdoor patio area. Prices were high enough to expect the food to be spectacular and service experienced, but hopefully they'll survive a difficult environment long enough to kick it up to that level. read more

The drinks were plenty and the food offered was cooked to our taste. The selection was limited but we enjoyed everything including the drinks. Friends had raved to us for months about Blue Jay Bistro. So last night was our first time. The food was delicious and the flounder was seasoned and prepared with perfection. The ambiance is that of a five star restaurant with beautiful decor! And we would have given five stars except for their wait staff appearance. Our server was good but dressed like western attire while the other staff was a mismatch of clothing with no uniformity. The first young lady to greet us with water looked more like the dishwasher with a half apron and stood in the dinning room throughout the meal as if ready to bus the tables. Again the food was great but we expected a much more polished appearance to match the fine decor. read more

Ok the food here was amazing I had the Duck which was cooked to perfection and the side that came with it was just the cherry on top. The service was also good the waiter was always so helpful and it's options and the manager was so good to us he tried to make a drink I didn't even know and I thankful for his help trying to recreate it. The ambiance of the place is so nice but not to nice that you feel like you need to come to it's a suit and tie. When I say five stars hands down!! I love love love this place it was phenomenal. The service the drinks the dishes! The ambience. I've been eyeing this place since we moved here in September and I'm so happy we finally went. It's reservation only and I was thankful we were able to get our booth for two. We came in and we were seated immediately. It was a bit of a wait before we were asked what we wanted to drink but we had time to peruse the menu. I think the bartenders name was Sarah. She was phenomenal. She gave my baby daddy a drink called blue lagoon I think and she made a drink up for me that was phenomenal. All of her recommendations were on point. My baby daddy doesn't even drink but he enjoyed all of the drinks we had. We ordered the oysters and the duck for our appetizers, all of the sauces were great and perfect compliments and the dishes were fried and seasoned to perfection. For our entrees we got the short rib and the hangar steak but we swapped the sides out for the sides of the chicken. And then we ordered another appetizer of oysters and another bartender creation of a drink. I would come here again and again. I plan to whenever I visit my baby dad and his family. FIVE STARS! Can't review the food because we didn't even get seated. Made a reservation and arrived at the restaurant. It was 41 degrees outside and they wanted to seat us outside with my 80 year old mom. We asked for a table inside (reservation did NOT specify outdoor seating) and they said there was nothing else available even with plenty of open seats inside. We left as we could not sit outside in 41 degrees with an elderly person. Very disappointed. read more

Fantastic experience last night at Blue Jay Bistro. We arrived 15 minutes early and were immediately escorted outside to their delightful covered patio to sit by the fire pit. We all ordered delicious cocktails and thoroughly enjoyed our wait. They seated us at our table after about 20 minutes. Our group decided to start with the Hams and Jams and the veggie fries. Both were delicious. For dinner we had a couple of the kale salads to share for the table. For entrees we did the short ribs and the catfish. We finished up the evening with the s'mores, cheesecake and sorbet desserts. It was all excellent. We will definitely return often. read more

He was super attentive and very professional aiming to please. He is an absolute asset to this restaurant. We can't say enough good things about him. What a great place !!! It's so nice to see the improvements made in this beautiful town . It's refreshing to see a quality restaurant right in the heart of main st . I have dined here a couple times since they opened and was not disappointed . The food was amazing and the staff and management are very friendly . From the short rib to the wagyu steak to the pork chop everything was cooked and crafted with care . The shrimp appetizer is a delicious starter and there are plenty of appealing choices . Being so new there are expected bumps and adjustments but they seem to be adapting nicely . The only suggestion I would make is the lighting needs to be significantly dimmed when the dinner service begins . I look forward to many great nights at the Blue Jay in the future read more

The shrimp bisque was perfection, the pork chop was a unique and delicious blend of flavors, hams and jams, fried oysters and kale salad were yummy as well. But the desserts! Their tagline is, "Escape the ordinary", but the menu and experience were both VERY ordinary. We had high hopes considering all they hype about the time, effort and money put into this place. But in the end, it's just a clone of other North Carolina restaurants with pretensions of haute cuisine that deliver uninspired versions of the same old dishes. The charcuterie plate was comprised of low-quality meats that you could buy in any supermarket. Their attempt at beef tartare was beyond vile, with a cheddar "powder" added to low-quality beef. The crab cakes were decent, but nothing you haven't had in dozens of other places. The pork chop could have been good if it hadn't been overloaded with sickeningly sweet sauces and crumbles. Sometimes less is more. Service was friendly, but they don't know how to set a table or serve wine. The less said about the wine list, the better. It's pretty obvious it was put together by someone who knows nothing about wine. read more
