On the few occasions I was able to meet with Dr Roohparvar he was attentive, not rushed, and pointed me in the right direction. He answers messages with a little delay, but overall he responds. The office staff is friendly and "on paper" they run a large practice with multiple doctors, so a patient should always be able to see a doctor when they need attention. However, in reality, finding an open time slot to see ANY of the doctors, especially Dr Roohparvar, is extremely difficult. Very often, when trying to find an appointment to see the doctor, the earliest available appointment is a month out or more. Fortunately, I don't get sick often, but on the few occasions when I really needed to see my doctor, he was not available for weeks, and I was redirected to Urgent Care. Somehow, all the other doctors in the practice were booked for weeks ahead too. This is unacceptable. What good is it to have a family doctor when you can't see him for a month because he is so overbooked?? People don't schedule or plan when they will get sick or hurt themselves. A family doctor is there to help and see you when these unexpected situations happen. Being able to see someone on the same day is likely unrealistic, but waiting for a few weeks for an appointment is simply ridiculous. Being asked to just go to urgent care whenever we need attention and when we have a family doctor is almost insulting. Why do I need a family doctor then? If the doctor has way too many patients, and he is oversubscribed, maybe he should communicate this better with his staff and patients, so we can all plan better and maybe seek another family practice. Overall, very unhappy with the lack of availability of the doctor and the lack of effort to offer another doctor's services from the practice when needed. read more

After reading positive reviews, I went to his office for infection I was going through for last couple of days. I told him how my medical problem is effecting my personal and professional life. He suggested me to go over the counter medicines and commented that infection will go by self in next few days. All Dr. in USA, more or less go through same theoretical professional degree. When it comes to diagnosis, each Dr has individual perception. A good Dr always keep in mind lot of factors e.g. age of patient, patient capability to fight over infection etc. If I have to fight my disease by my own why I need to see Dr. I really wasted my time and money with this visit. Next day, I searched another Dr in his neighborhood , He/She prescribed me Prescription medicine and I got relief within 48 hours and able to enjoy my life again. So, in short if I don't get service for what I paid, I will take business elsewhere. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Roohparvar's for over 15 years and he's always been a great primary care doctor for me with my HMO insurance plan. Most of the time I see him for yearly physicals and issues like colds or minor injuries but he's also helped me manage cholesterol and blood pressure issues too and always refers me to a specialist when needed. He and his office are always accommodating and I can usually get an appointment pretty quickly if I need to especially for more serious issues. He always refills prescriptions on time and sends out reminders when I need to get blood work or physicals or follow up appointments, and his office always calls to remind me of upcoming appointments so they are really on top of things and well organized. Dr Roohparvar is a board certified physician and extremely knowledgeable about pretty much any issues I have and he explains things in a calm and relaxed way that always puts me at ease when I'm in his office. When I have needed external specialists, he has always sent me referrals to excellent physicians and keeps in touch with them on their findings so he stays updated on any treatment with them. In short, I highly recommend Dr Roohparvar if you need an excellent Primary Care Physician or are looking to make a change from your existing one. read more

Dr. Roohparvar is a great GP. I never feel rushed. My own input seems wanted which is particularly important as I feel I often have more information than my doctors. I just moved here from the east coast and was quite anxious about finding a new doctor given that I have a lot of health issues. I read reviews for him here on Yelp (that two star one didn't deter me) and went in. He's extremely pleasant and thorough. He takes the time to explain why he has come up with certain conclusions and really works hard to fix what's wrong by actually listening to me. I've had some terrible and even ignorant doctors in my past. Dr. Roohparvar really cares for his patients and I'm glad that I found him. On the plus side his assistant Melissa is awesome! She's very friendly and warm. She has always been extremely accommodating when it comes to appointments (even during an emergency) or responding to an email when I've been out of town. Shahab has been my doctor for some time. He's a attentive, complete and very competent internist. Handles a wide age spectrum (I'm in my mid-50's) and can handle emergency visits and routine health check ups. Nice person to boot. Only rub is not a great electronic presence via EM but you can get a call back the same day if you leave a message. read more

Very uncaring doctor, no matter how many times I emailed him or left messages, he mostly never cared to respond or to follow up about my condition. I guess he is only pending on his front desk staff which can't provide a professional opinion or results. Since then, he established his own practice in Mountain View and I have been to him regularly over these years. He is not only an extremely competent doctor but a wonderful person as well. He takes time to talk to you and explain any diagnosis and medications. Waiting times are usually just a few minutes and his referrals to other specialists have turned out to be great. I have been a patient of the doctor's for over 10 years, through probably four different HMO plans. I have never had a problem getting necessary referrals for my back problems (which have also been with me for 10 years), and I like that he tends to err on the side of caution. He always asks, at the end of each visit, if there is anything else I'd like to speak with about and has never once made me feel like I'm being rushed out of the office. His office staff are also top notch, especially when it comes to getting referrals straightened out through SCCIPA. I have always been seen in a timely manner, and have often been squeezed in at the last minute for more unrgent needs (sudden, sever illness, strep etc). I cannot recommend this doctor and his staff highly enough, especially as a PCP as part of an HMO plan. read more

I saw him for an itchy eye and he just told me to get some over the counter eye drops which didn't work. I asked him what I could do to relieve my cold symptoms since I didn't want to take anything that would be harmful since I was nursing my baby, he said ask your pharmacist. A good doctor is hard to find Another doctor of mine referred me to Dr. Roohparvar because my Internist retired. Despite the negative reviews online, I trusted the recommendation so I made an appointment due to experiencing symptoms of a kidney infection. I saw Dr. Roohparvar on Monday, January 25th. I explained my symptoms. Dr. Roohparvar dismissed them saying he believed it was just back pain. He asked me if I had lifted anything heavy like a child. (I am a Court-Appointed Advocate for foster youth.) I replied; "No". He talked about Sciatica. I explained I have had that before and this pain is definitely different. When I asked him about the cloudy urine symptom I was experiencing, he said it was "common in men". I thought this was odd because I'm clearly female. He proceeded to add some lab requests to an existing lab order from my other doctor and wrote me a prescription for 2 weeks of physical therapy for "chronic back pain." The next morning I went to get the labs done. The lab assured me that Dr. Roohparvar's office would have the results the day after, on Wednesday, January 27th. I never heard from Dr. Roohparvar's office. Still experiencing symptoms I called a week later, at 1:47PM on Tuesday, February 2nd. There was no answering service, only a machine with a recording that states not to leave a message and to call back during business hours. I called again at 2:33PM. I asked if they had received my lab results and the woman said she would look for them, have the doctor review them, and call me back. I never heard back from her for the rest of the day. The next morning, Wednesday, February 3rd, she called at 9:25AM stating they had not received the lab results and asked me which lab I went to. I gave her the location and she said she could call the main office and obtain the results. Today is exactly two weeks since I saw Dr. Roohparvar and I never heard back from him or anyone on his staff. I have since received a copy of the lab results confirming the infection. I highly recommend trusting the negative reviews and NOT going to Dr. Roohparvar's office. read more
