I hired Shaheen and Gordon to help me with a neighbor who was encroaching on my property. I became a little concerned when they made a mistake on their engagement letter and decided to stick with them since I needed assistance and finding a lawyer who could assist in real estate law in New Hampshire has been challenging. I received a draft within approximately two weeks which matched the expectations set during the initial meeting. After week three and requesting a status update, the letter was sent to the neighbor, and my issue was quickly resolved by the neighbor. A new issue was identified with a different neighbor, however after reaching out to the attorney for assistance, this was missed without resolution. I then cancelled the request for assistance and closed my account. Around the time of the second issue, I was asking for assistance with a living trust and a different attorney was recommended. I made an appointment to meet the new attorney and hear what services he was able to provide. When I called the billing department about receiving the balance of my retainer, billing informed me that she wanted to hold on to the retainer for future possible business. I decided to cancel my appointment with the individual who might have been able to assist me with a living trust to receive the balance of my retainer and help their billing team understand that holding on to my retainer balance was not going to be an option for them. I'm not entirely sure how Andrew Piela made partner. He was completely unprepared for trial, failed to communicate, overbilled and under delivered. I found procedural deficiencies a seasoned attorney like him should have spotted immediately. He failed to provide sound counsel and was a complete waste of money. I expected more from Shaheen & Gordon, this guy over promised and under delivered like a used car salesman of the law world. I expect that trend runs through the entire firm. I sent an email asking a question to update trust and getting a DFPOA. A rep from Concord returned call and asking me about my beneficiary and their names and addresses???? I said why do I need to tell you that personal information when I don't even know if I'm going to use the firm or not. Then she said she'd have an attorney contact me, it's been 3 days. Called for a consult on a wrongful death of a family member. The attorney took three weeks to return a call , after I called to complain. I would certainly look at other firms before calling this firm in Portland Maine office. I spoke with three other attorneys willing to pursue a lawsuit for my family. It appears that they cherry pick what cases they are willing to represent. Best advice , find another law firm. read more

Shaheen & Gordon welcome's Chris Ratte. I want to say I do not have any experience with this firm, but do have a comment about a lawyer they just hired. Chris Ratte did not represent us well. I wish he did a good job for us. It was the worst experience we have ever had, It is a very stressful situation when you have a boundary dispute and when your attorney becomes radio silent, it is very upsetting. We are members of the Hyatt Legal Service which is an insurance offered by our employer to subsidize legal fees. Chris Ratte is a member of the Hyatt Legal Plan and accepted to represent us. However, we were told by Chris that he doesn't get paid much from Hyatt and then he became less responsive to our heated boundary dispute by not returning our phone calls or emails. I had to make several calls to complain about him to Hyatt and the firm he work for prior to joining this firm. Then we would get a quick email stating his is working on the case and will get back to us soon. I could write a book how unresponsive and poor follow through he has shown over the past 2 years.
