"Of all the flowers, methinks a rose is best." - William Shakespeare, The Two Noble Kinsmen I enjoyed walking through this part of Central Park for the first time on a recent trip to New York City. This four-acre dense space is full of trees, flowers and shrubs and is near Belvedere Castle. It is also near the Delacorte Theater which is home to free Shakespeare in the Park productions. There are a lot of wood benches in this garden and a cool sundial. I enjoyed reading some of the bronze plaques with quotes from Shakespeare as I was passing through the garden.

There are plenty of reviews that explain what is happening in the garden. I am just there for the rabbits....

Shakespeare Garden has been on my list of places to really spend time exploring. Today I left the East Side a couple hours before my doctor appointment so I had plenty of time to enjoy a garden visit. I'm sorry it was a cloudy day. I still took a lot of photos. The flowers and landscaping are beautiful. I love the wooden fences and stone steps. There's many twists and turns in the Shakespeare Garden. I'm still not sure I covered it all. What can you say about a garden? It's absolutely beautiful and clean! It's also great that there's bathrooms nearby. There's lots of local folks out in the morning and tourists visiting too! I'm recommending you visit. Also if you haven't been in awhile it's Spring, time to visit again!

My love of the Shakespeare Garden is always a 5-star, but my experience was more like a 3-star, so I'm leaving a 4-star to meet halfway. I'm at a little war with myself about posting such a great review even though this is a fantastic place. As a native New Yorker, I've utilized this place to sit and think, bring my friends, enjoy a coffee, listen to the birds, and maybe even bring a book. I would love to share my passion for this garden with others who are interested in visiting, but I found myself stressed by the number of tourists and visitors present when I was trying to enjoy a quiet afternoon. I don't mind it when other people are enjoying the space, but it began to feel less serene and more like Times Square. Overall, I would just like future visitors to respect the space and be mindful of the other people coming and going in. It felt less peaceful, and I hope this isn't a permanent thing. It's not good when your favorite places become tourist traps although that doesn't mean that I don't want visitors to enjoy themselves here.

Even though it was a bit late in the year when I visited in early Oct, a surprising number of the flowers were still in impressive bloom! I loved meandering through this tiny little haven in the park. I really does feel like you've been transported "Secret Garden"-style to some small corner of an English garden. I enjoyed the sundial, seeing several bees pollinating the various flowers to their hearts' content, and finding the Charles B Stover bench when leaving out the other side was a nice little treat! There are plenty of benches, so this is a great spot to take a break if you've been walking through CP and a need a sweet-smelling and somewhat quiet respite!

This is a beautiful garden in Central Park. You have to look for it, and you will find it close to Delacorte Theatre. The garden, which is small at 4 acres, is in a very quiet part of the park which isn't usually very busy. In the spring and summer, when the flowers are out, you see weddings or wedding photo shoots here. It's really pretty and peaceful. According to Central Park website, the garden used to be called The Garden of the Garden of the Heart but was dedicated to Shakespeare in 1916. They also say that there is taken from a tree planted by Shakespeare himself in 1602! There are plaques with quotations from Shakespeare's plays and plants mentioned in the plays. What I love best are the benches made of pretty branches. I went last in February before the pandemic craziness and even then there were spring flowers starting to bloom. It looked pretty on a chilly rainy day, with some mist.

Shakespeare's Garden is set within Central Park and is a beautiful setting and tribute to The Bard. Location: West side of Central Park closest to 79th. The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre is to your left, and the main steps to enter Shakespeare's Garden are directly ahead. The garden is filled with plants and flowers mentioned in Shakespeare's plays and poems, as well as those featured in his own private garden in Stratford-upon-Avon. Plaques with quotes - corresponding to his works - adorn the gardens. My personal favorite is from "Romeo and Juliet" (after Juliet meets Romeo at the party, falls in "love," finds out he's a Montague, and laments the logic): "What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet..." The flowers are in various stages of bloom (mid-June), and the ones that were were beautiful. One of the highlights is Belvedere Castle, which is a Victorian-esque structure perfectly placed to take in the view of Turtle Pond and Central Park itself. There are two sets of stairs leading to a landing/lookout prior to the castle. Note that the stairs to the 2nd and 3rd stories of the castle are of the narrow and winding variety. Shakespeare's Garden is definitely a serene must-stop on your Central Park visit!

Bryant Park in Manhattan has a rich, quirky history and many surprising secrets -- from its days as a poor person's cemetery to hosting over 12 million visitors a year. Between 1823 and 1840, the site was a potter's field -- a burial ground for the city's indigent. Bodies were later moved to Wards Island, and the land became the Croton Distributing Reservoir. The western lawn sits directly above underground stacks holding 3.2 million books and 50,000 reels of microfilm for the New York Public Library. In the 1920s, during subway construction, a replica of Federal Hall was built in the park to celebrate Washington's bicentennial In 1853, the New York Crystal Palace hosted a major world exhibition here. It burned down in 1858. Tesla spent time feeding pigeons in the park; one white bird allegedly inspired him. The park renamed 40th Street & 6th Avenue "Nikola Tesla Corner" in his honour. The Josephine Shaw Lowell Fountain - Visitors toss $3,000-$4,000 worth of coins yearly into this fountain, all going toward park maintenance. In winter, the park transforms into a Winter Village with an ice rink, shops, and restaurants -- built from scratch in just two weeks. Bryant Park is the most densely occupied urban park in the world, with daily visitors often exceeding 1,000 per acre. Guided tours reveal hidden mosaic installations and even a Buddha statue tucked away in the park.

Today being 9/11, we were able to observe many family members coming to this park to place a flower on their loved one's chairs. I am not sure if I would call this place a park but technically I guess it counts as one because it has tables where people can come and sit down and eat or drink their morning or afternoon coffee. There are also random places where kids can play including a carousel and playground for little ones. There are other places where you can grab snacks, coffee, and hand held bites but we didn't try any of those today. We did sit around the table to enjoy our New York bagel and coffee from blue bottles. The trees around the park were super tall which I enjoyed looking at trying to crane my neck as far back as it would bend lol. I appreciated small birds and pigeons that seemed used to being around people. Overall it was a relaxing experience. This park is located nearby other landmarks you can choose to check out after experiencing the park.

We were on our 4th game of 5 on 5 on this slanted, slippery court with double rims as the Midtown skyline looked over us. We had gone 3-0 and already on wobbly legs but wanted one more to really push ourselves to exhaustion and be WHOOPED. A group of 5 17 year olds showed up and I was lowkey like damn I don't wanna play these little kids for our last game but whatever, they got next. We were going back and forth, and to be fair they were actually pretty good but just too frail to give us any problems. At 5'10 174 lbs, I'm a BIG guard. I'm left handed, but shot a right handed floater fading to my right as I'm trying to get better. If you can hit a weak hand floater on the run you will be tough to stop. I bricked it and this little 17 year old kid goes "that's a TERRIBLE shot" looking at me dead in the eyes. Like bro y'all are losing and you suck why you talking? He woke me up and I started actually trying really hard and lowkey busting their ass... but tbh normally I'm not even that good. It was just one of those days where everything was falling. I hit a 3 and yelled out "THAT'S A LAYUP." I drove hard left, euro stepped and hit a tough finish through 2 and yelled "I"M TOO BIG," while flexing. I switched onto little homie and he took a terrible stepback shot after I turned him 3 times and bricked it. I just whispered to him "I don't even gotta say nothing after that one it speaks for itself" which really pissed him off. Then I hit the game winning 3 and did the Dame wave to him as he walked off the court PISSED as hell. I sat down and then he got the courage to say "STOP TALKING SO MUCH" while he put his hand together to mimic me YAPPING. I almost stood up and said "HOW BOUT U GET WIN?" But then I realized I'm a grown ass man and there is absolutely no reason to be jawing at this little kid on a beautiful Friday in New York City. I just kind of laughed at myself and asked what is wrong with me lol. All in all, these runs were kind of weak and this court is in horrendous condition. The court on the westside highway is still my favorite in the city. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

I came here Saturday night for Converse City Carnage featuring The Kills, Black Bananas and Viva Viva. As a venue it was pretty great! There is a women on their security team (probably doesn't have anything to do with the Hudson River folks or Chelsea Piers for that matter...) but this woman was so incredibly bitter and I was quite happy-go-lucky when she accused me of yelling at her.
