Krupa and Aaron were very hospitable, with Krupa greeting us, directing us to good food in the area (Mesquite Canyon Steakhouse), and letting us know her husband Aaron would be making eggs in the morning, included in the very affordable room charge. Very sweet couple & they were up cleaning rooms as soon as a guest checks out. They also let you use their only washer & dryer at an extra cost.... its their commerical size machine. Several assurances every thing including the room and breakfast would be good gave us a false sense of confidence. The air conditioning woke us many times cycling on and off. Most notable was breakfast. The orange juice was like orange kool aid, there were no potatoes, sausage or bacon, and the few biscuits and very small amount of scrambled eggs were gone well before 9am. We got a little which we shared. Quite a few other travelers repeatedly checked for expected refills before giving up with their families starting their day without food. read more

My husband and I were on a cross-country road trip and decided to try staying in an old-style Route 66 motor court, so we chose the Shamrock Country Inn. We had a delightful stay! Let's be clear: this is not a luxury hotel. But for a basic roadside motel, it's a swell place to stop on a road trip. Our room was clean and fairly spacious; the beds were comfortable; the water pressure in the shower was good; and the location was just far enough off Route 66 to be quiet and afford us a good night's sleep. The solid construction of the building contributed to the quiet. The exterior of the building is well-kept, and everything has been recently painted, with the Texas star on the outside of every room's door. The rooms are equipped with old-fashioned wall heaters and A/C units; we stopped here in October, so they were sufficient for our needs. The buildings form a "U" around a paved parking area for cars and trucks right in front of the rooms; there is also a central gravel area for semis or larger vehicles. The night we stayed there, many of the rooms were occupied, and this seemed to be a favored stop for hunters. Wi-fi is available and free, but outdated by current security standards, so we did not use it. There is a breakfast room, with all the usual offerings; there are limited hot food selections, but they do have a waffle maker. Breakfast is included in the price of the room, which is already a great deal. The proprietor was very courteous, and check-in and check-out were extremely fast and efficient. It's just a 10- to 15-minute walk to Rusty's (a GREAT place for dinner) and the U Drop Inn Café (known from Disney's "Cars") on the corner of Route 66. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Shamrock Country Inn and will definitely stop here again on our next trip through the Texas panhandle. read more

Budget friendly. Immediately greeted when I arrived. Check-in is clear and quick. Hot breakfast is included. We slept so soundly we didn't partake in it. We are currently at a Marriott brand, and the Shamrock was far superior to this. Price was under 63 USD with tax for the 2 bed room. Parking is right out front. I have not stayed in a $39/night motel since the last time I drove cross country in 1988. It was in Albuquerque and the desk clerk asked me if I wanted the hourly rate or the whole night. So, I was dubious that there was a $39/night motel with such great reviews as the Shamrock Country Inn. But I decided to roll the dice and was so glad I did. The owner Chris took my reservation over the phone, greeted me warmly and with plentiful information when I arrived around 9:30pm. He noted there were some road construction workers staying who were chatting outside their rooms and to let him know if they were too loud or out too late. They were not a problem. This is an older motel on Old Route 66 just off I-40 but the room was immaculate. The bathroom was as clean as any hotel I have stayed in. We were up just after 6am and already Chris was out and about, preparing breakfast (eggs, biscuits and gravy) and checking rooms. I hope I have occasion to visit Shamrock again so I can stay at this motel. read more

This is sweet find. The hotel is immaculately clean and the beds are comfy! The owner was very sweet - turned on our AC before we arrived and left complimentary water for our arrival. The breakfast was real hot food - scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, waffles, toast and more. The price can't be beat - $52 + $30 for our 2 large dogs. Plenty of space to walk them and real door knobs (not the kind the dogs can jump on and open), so a perfect stay with pets. We will make it a point to stay again when passing through Shamrock! read more

I was traveling through, headed west, when I decided to stop and try to get a room. It was a little after midnight and I wasn't sure if I'd find an available room, on short notice, and so late at night. The gentleman at the front was so helpful. I was able to get a room for $55. Cheapest I've ever paid for a hotel. The room is small & cozy, but let me tell you THE BED. According to my Samsung watch, I got the best sleep I've ever had on that bed, lol. The room had a fridge, microwave, safe and coffee pot. A large TV mounted on the wall. Toiletries and complimentary water bottles. The wifi worked great. I was able to work in the room and it supported all of my work programs. Overall, great experience, great value and even better sleep lol read more

Definitely one of the more clean places I've stayed. It's old, but it adds to the charm. The tvs have this sort of filter over it that makes it look like one of the old ones. Pet friendly, which is a plus. However, my cat was able to get into the box springs of both beds. read more

Shamrocks should produce good luck, but not in this case.  Good friend traveling cross country to start a new career stopped in the Shamrock Country Inn for the night.  Was in the room for twenty minutes, pulled down the bedsheet and was surprised there were not shamrocks, but instead found bugs.  He immediately went to office to report and requested a refund.  He was refused.  Shamrock Country Inn Management needs a lesson in Irish hospitality.  May good luck be your friend in whatever you do and may bed bugs always be a stranger to you. read more

The rooms were not at all as represented on Yelp. I noticed on the office door. There were signs from trip Advisor endorsements. I hate writing a bad review for a business, but that night in my bed felt some tickling my leg. I pulled back the cover and there was a spider crawling across my leg. The room was way back in the corner of the hotel and felt like they had not opened it in a long time. It was so dark in there there's no windows or light other than on the wall switch. It felt like the room hadn't had any attention since the 1960s the bedding and everything felt like somebody had slept in it and not washed, it was kind of nightmarish. To be honest I would say for any traveler that they might want to pass this one up. even though the room was cheap it had misleading reviews that led me to think it might be worth a try. I think I would've rather slept in my car. The two stars is for the kindness of the host. They were very hospitable and kind, but they should pay more attention to their rooms or make sure that at least they're cleaned and aired out and debugged before renting them read more

This was truly a magical stay. It was like we were back in the 50's cruising down Route 66. We read the awesome reviews and decided to stay at a local hotel versus a chain and we were glad we did. Aaron, the owner, provided us an awesome rate and it was totally worth it. The room was extremely clean and the bed was very comfortable. We had a wonderful nights rest for next days adventures. But we also met some great people. As the sun was going down people came out of their rooms to see the view and the neon lights on the roadway. We actually talked and shared our travel stories, not via social media or text but by talking! It made our trip even better. This was a planned visit on our trip across country. I wanted to stay because ot was a small, quirky town. Though we had booked through Expedia and had been delayed 1.5 days, the staff found a way to accommodate us. Instead of the room we had booked, they had to put us in 2 rooms. There was no charge for the second room. We were completely exhausted at that point and really appreciated they went the extra mile for us. Accidental find that was just what we needed! Hotel is super clean, breakfast was real eggs, biscuits, gravy, and waffles. We made this reservation late in the evening after realizing we were not going to make it all of the way to Amarillo. We were greeted at the front desk by the friendly owner. Our family of three and dog slept comfortably. The room was clean (no mold smell anywhere), cold, and quiet. Breakfast served from 6:30 to nine. This is our first time traveling with the dog and the owner made sure to ask that the dog slept on the floor and not the bed. I love this because I definitely don't want to sleep on a bed that's had other people's dogs sleeping in it--or mine either. We will definitely sleep here again on our way back from camping trip. read more

From that first interaction, he was impressed. The owner who took his call was welcoming and so helpful, ensuring there would be a room reserved for him when he arrived. When he got there, he noted that the outside appearance is outdated, but said "don't let that deter you"! Shamrock Country Inn is the best! We've stayed here twice on road trips. Arron is so nice and so accommodating. The place is completely pet friendly, which is our favorite part. We have two big dogs and they're completely welcome and it's so easy. The place is also so inexpensive and the perfect stop off on our cross country road trips. Arron always accommodates our super late night arrivals, and yes the rumors are true, we always look forward to the Texas shaped waffles for breakfast. Shamrock is extremely charming. Nothing fancy but it's perfect for a one night stop through. And it attracts some of the friendliest travelers from all over the country! We stayed here last night, paid for 3 rooms at $39.00 each. Upon driving up to the MOTEL it appeared sketchy, however anyone that knows me, I'm big on reviews of Trip Advisor and Yelp, so I researched this place thoroughly and had overall lowest/impressive 4.2/5.0 score for a 1-star Motel. As we pulled into the parking lot, Marc's kids were hesitant and wanted to go pay elsewhere. After seeing the rooms, they were extremely clean like that of the reviews. The bathrooms are definitely outdated in green and pink, and VERY CLEAN. The owner Aaron takes pride in his establishment as is proud of his Motel awards 4.9 from Booking.com, Hotels.com, TripAdvisors. He had several awards along with guest notes and sincere cards in appreciation of their stay that he displays. Breakfast was decent, like that of Continental with Waffels, Eggs, Bisquit/Gravy that he makes. In asking the kids this morning how they slept and if they'd stay there again. They said beds were comfortable which allowed them a good night sleep and YES, they'd stay there again Keep up the great work Aaron. This will be our stopping place when we travel from CA to Mo or IL. CANT SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THIS LIL PLACE IN THE MIDDLE OF NO-WHERE. read more

We were skeptical about this motel, due to its low nightly rate. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. The owners are super friendly and the rooms are kept very clean. Yes, it is an older motel from the glory days of Route 66, but it has been well maintained and nicely presented. Free bottled water, clean rooms, real eggs and b and g for breakfast, unlocked my door prior to checking in, friendly staff and only 42 bucks?! Because of my Irish ancestry, I picked this one site unseen on an app. This has to be the most awesome $39.95 room in the world. The best value. What makes a difference, is the owner is the operator and I could see the pride he took in every small part. This man thinks about what travelors would want. He also knows people talk and no amount of advertising will overcome less than stellar reviews. I would stay here over and over. The only negative might be the retro commode. It worked fine for me-just 5'10" and 167 lbs-but someone bigger, I.e. Most of America, who is overweight will have a difficult time. Overall a super place with a very caring owner operator. This is really a treasure of a cheap motel! Very very clean, the toilets even have the paper ring to show has been unused. The carpets, walls, bathroom, bed and all surfaces are spot free. The owners are very welcoming, my rate was $40 plus tax. I tell ya this is the best $40 room I've had in a long long time, they really take pride in their establishment! Free wifi, fridge, microwave, a nice desk, even a little dresser with a coffee maker, with a couple chairs adorn the room. The bathroom was nicely tiled, and other than having a pink tub, was very nice. Heck even the toilet was good looking. If needing a room in the area i suggest stopping here. read more

We called after hours to inquire about a room, we were pleasantly surprised that they did have rooms available and even got us next to each other- despite the motel being very full! Front desk staff was fabulous and even called to check on us when we were on our way. Room was clean, well stocked and so cute. You cannot beat the price! Breakfast was awesome- waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, all homemade. Also included several choices of cereals and bread for toast. The service, cleanliness and food was fantastic.
