TLDR: Dave came in, did the work as per estimate, cleaned up after himself, and showed up on time. Priceless. Long version: I'm the contractor's worst nightmare, a homeowner who thinks they can do certain tasks. Sometimes I'm right, I could do it, but I'm getting too old to go crawling around in attics and on ladders and such. I had a coupla electrical things I needed done, some of which meant fiddling about in my breaker boxes, which I'm always leery of. I called a few people, who were too busy or had crappy communication skills and no sense of time and politeness. Dave, on the other hand, has his proverbial you-know-what together. Organized, very clear communication, and timely. First he scheduled a virtual get-together to go over what I wanted. He was on time and was willing to listen as well as talk. After me running around with the camera and showing him what the outside boxes looked like, he determined that no, the style of thing I wanted wouldn't work well, but says, hey, you know, there's this other one you can get on Amazon and put in yourself. Sent me a link, boom, simple. Saved a few bucks on that side. The other half of the work I did have him come out and do. Again, scheduled, and showed up on time (I have this thing about folks being on time and not wasting MY time, which Dave has down to a science), and taken care of. He might not be cheap, but face it, when hiring a professional you should be looking for professional work, not the lowest price -- or at least you should be when the downside is the risk of your house burning down. (If I wanted to take the risk I'd do it myself =)) I tried not to shoulder cruise much, but what I saw was done The Right Way, so I'm pleased with the results. We spent a bit of time talking about other possibilities, upgrades and such. I didn't feel pressured or anything, it was just chat about someday if I wanna change up the house or go to sell and need to meet code for inspection or whatever. Dave is awesome! I needed lots of electrical work done and submitted a Yelp request. Called back some of the top rated companies that replied and only got the runaround, "Oh we can't get out there for weeks", etc. Down the list of replies was Dave's, a simple "Hi sir, I can certainly help you with those issues" and his cell phone number. I left him a voice mail and he called me back in 2 minutes (even though it was a Friday night), then we scheduled a time for him to come out. He addressed everything to my satisfaction, did top quality work and was respectful of our home. I was very satisfied. Some of the repairs I requested, those "other guys" told me "Oh geez we'll have to send multiple people out, that could be really tricky to troubleshoot", etc. Dave figured every single problem out in 5 minutes or less. He does meticulous work too; when he's done he uses his personal vacuum cleaner to vacuum every last speck of dust away from the area he was working in, you literally can't even tell he was there! I've had other electrical issues that needed addressing and Dave has come back two more times. Once again he set a clear date and time, showed up on time, assessed all work that needed to be done, provided an estimate then fixed everything perfectly. Dave also teaches you as he works so you clearly understand why something isn't working, and what he did to fix it. I'm the type of person that really appreciates observing and learning from a highly skilled person, and Dave is a great teacher; not a lot of companies or independent electricians will do that. He is smart and very skilled and it's nice of him to share his knowledge with the rest of us. Dave is very patient, great with people and just an incredibly nice man to deal with and talk to. Honest too. On one occasion when he was replacing a ceiling light fixture the drywall around it cracked slightly as he removed the fixture (not his fault at all, a normal occurrence). It was so minor I honestly couldn't even tell. He came and told me right away, and said he wouldn't charge me for that hour of labor to make up for it. He didn't have to do that, but he did. Just a solid, honest man all around. 5 stars all the way. Dave should be your first call for any electrical needs. I'll never use anyone else. read more

Dave is an outstanding and pragmatic electrician and is the most reliable tradesman I have found. First, unlike the past electricians I have worked with he both called and texted me back when he said he would. His voice mail said he was booked until Wednesday and on Wednesday like clockwork he called back. He's also a very personable and nice guy. Highly competent, reliable and nice. He took the time to understand the problem before he arrived and also clearly explained his fees then as well. We scheduled a day and he got back to me with a two hour ETA window for his starting the work. Again, he was right on time and also texted me beforehand. Once here he took the time for me to walk him through the problems I was having with a number of my upstairs circuits. Then he went through the diagnostics in short order. He provided me a few options to preserve some old switches and breakers or replace some or all of the components. I chose the "clean it all up" and he went through the fixes very efficiently. While here I had a number of other items I wanted to get done at another time so he did a walkthrough of that and provided a clear estimate. He also provided good advice on options for the additional ceiling wiring I wanted and also what he would stay away from....and what would keep costs reasonable and what would be excessive.
